Guys, dont be fooled by the 8 speed tranny, in sport mode, and with hard driving, if the computer "senses" a heavy foot and plenty of steering input, it only lets you use 6. The 8th speed is for housewives not to kill themselves when they accidentally floor it, it's a means of making that 5.0 V8 more docile for everyday use. Just one of the things that makes it brilliant. I wont swop mine for anything but an LFA, or a GTR, seeing as I will never afford the LFA....:-)

Oh my God. After the AMG v8's this is the one of the best noises i've ever heard. Yamaha really pulled it off in this AND in the LF-A. These guys know what they're doing. The one thing I don't like is the bell ringing everytime you change the f****** gear!

Idiots, the fact that it has 8 gears is what adds to how FAST it is. Because it has 8 gears, the gear ratios are smaller, so it shifts faster, by having this it lets the lexus stay in higher rpms and in the high horsepower powerband. When you have 6 gears for example on the same Lexus ISF, it would be slower, because each time you shift the rpm starts from a lower number, rather than being at higher rpms, like i said, it stays in the powerband much better with MORE GEARS.

AWESOMELY edited, but i must note that i have been sorely disappointed by Toyota/lexus' decision when it's come to making sport/fast cars again. The IS-F didn't really come close to beating the M3 (it's main contender) when it came to performance and looks (if you ask me). The LFA is a engineering marvel, yet it's price tag is an unreasonable step up from the IS-F, and performance you can buy a for 1/4 of the cost and almost* do the same. Long live the supra, if they only recreated it...

I'm looking to get a BMW 335d which only has 265HP and a whopping 425ft..lbs. of torque. It's $50K and it would take this Lexus off the line due to the 100+ ft..lbs. more of torque. I'm a diesel man now.. They're clean and more fuel efficient than these V8 gas guzzlers..
