It's beautiful, but I personally like not quite such a theatrical sound to this piece. No attack on the organist or organ, simply personal preference. :)
Sorry, but I am NOT incorrect. The Wanamaker organ in Philadelphia is the second largest organ in the world. The Atlantic City organ is actually larger. These, however, are "straight" organs, built along more classical lines.
More to the point... enjoy the music and forget the sophistry of trying to decide which is the bigger instrument.
@pipeorganman1 - the Atlantic City organ has 449 ranks to Wanamaker's 462. The Wanamaker organ is also reputed to weigh about twice as much as the ACCH organ, at nigh on 300 tons.
You Statement At The Beginning of this video is Very Incorrect it is the Wanamaker Organ It has 28,000 Pipes And then the Midmer-Losh, Opus 5550, Built in 1929 with 33,114 found in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA
@lukebenford It is difficult to say whether these 2 are theatre organs or not.
I would say no, they are to big to be a certain kind of organ, they are everything, they have typical church organ stops, but typical theare organ stops, too.
A truly ungracious comment. It reminds me of the story about Max Reger. Max read a review of some of his work, and sent a message to the reviewer: "I am sitting in the smallest room in my house, with your lousy review in front of me. Soon it will be behind me."
i just so happened to be at this very concert at the sanfilippo estate. and this guy really knows this organ very well. it happens to be the largest and most complex manual wurlitzer in the world. He truly is one of few who handles and plays this organ to it's full potential. :D
@ThePetzable It seems to me that it would be more gracious, and perhaps reflect better on your knowledge of the organ to not feel the need to praise the organ and pan the organist.
I have been an organist for many years. And this is one of the greatest pieces I have ever herd. Truly beautiful, and very well done. I am very happy this was posted. Thank you, and blessing on you.
Great camera angle taken from the balcony of the Place de la Musique in Barrington Hills, IL. I've been there several times and have about eight CD's from there. Frankly, the balcony is the best place to hear the blend of this magnificent instrument. You literally can get run over by it. Great sound! The mics handeled all of the dynamic ranges including the 32's. Love it!

what would impress me more, is to see what kind of monster air-compressor is needed to play all those pipes!

He does a very good job on this song. Probably not a difficult piece to play, but playing this on a grand organ,is a masterpiece in itself.

I think it sounded great, anyone who can handle even two manuals and pedals, let alone hand registering, has my vote.

Truly revolting. Pity, as it's a great organ. Why doesn't anyone play them inventively any more?
