Stage 2 costs $15,500 and with pump gas and meth you will get 549 WHP. Also I can install an HPF kit myself and do the tune so instead of 65K try 35K :) HPF over 335 anyday!

@m4a1jason 333hp vs 306hp is not accurate by any means. In 2007 the way horsepower is rated was changed. If you apply the same Measurements that the pre-2007 M3 had to the 2007+ 335i, hp would be nearly identical. Its just weight that slows the 335i down.

@TheColonelAdama FYI: Audi uses a quattro system distributing power evenly to all 4 wheels and is often fwd bias meaning a majority of power will be sent to the front wheels causing understeer a usual occurrence in almost any audi model, BMW uses xdrive a rwd bias system, info is sent from wheel sensors show whether a wheel is about to spin and providing data gathered by DSC stability control. xDrive consistently spreads out drive forces perfectly between the two axles eliminating understeer
@jberta323 Uh not true at all buddy. Quattro, depending on what iteration your talking about, has the ability to distribute as much as 100% to any axle, but by no means does that mean it's often fwd bias. The Torsen 1 iteration was a 50/50 front rear split, and the Torsen 3 iteration moved to a 40/60 front rear split. Also, the reason Audi's have a lot of understeer is because the engine is placed to far forward over the front axle, especially the B6/B7 S4 models with the 4.2 V8...heavy.

@joshluvsdani for you information the 335i stock is better in every way than the e46 m3 (acceleration, breaking, etc), and yes is sad the same year the 335 came out in 2007 bmw were still selling and e46s for a way higher price than the 335i, only then in 2008 when the v8 m3 came out that was better, but no by much for the xtra $18k+ over the 335i, and with only ~$600 you can by th JB4 "beta" that will smoke the new v8 m3 by a lot
BMW made a very stupid mistake by putting 2 turbos on that 3 liter ingine. Because now 335i is allmost as fast as M3 cheaped is even faster), and 135i is faster than M1 wich will not come for the same reason.

1 series m coupe will be faster then e46 m3 by 12 seconds around the Nordschleife and a 135i is around 15 seconds slower around it than a e46 m3. But 1/4 miles a 135i is only 0.1 second slower tha e46 m3.

We have a 325d coupe, z4sdrive35i and a 135i with all the performance mods which has been in uk bmw performance magazine as it was pushing out 420hp with mods.
I question why we have the z4 when the 135i is a similar car but its for the lady of the manor!!
I love the Internet people who will never own an m3 that say no other car can ever beat it. I love the m3 but clearly it was just beaten in a straight line by a chipped 335i. And to say a 335i can never handle like one is garbage too. The world of aftermarket is too vast to say that. You can make a Honda civic beat an m3 in most performance aspects. Of course not in appearance, luxury, sound etc but it can be done with enough money and proper tuning.

Buy an older m3 for 22000 then pay 13000 for the hpf stage 1 upgrade which comes with warranty and you've payed 35000 for a reliable w/ warranty better handling higher top speed 630 rwhp m3 shove that up your ass 335 owners it's a plain 3 series not a racing built machine

Tuning a 335i from Dinan, their S3 package costs about 50K and you'll get approx an extra 100HP. So after the chip and modding total Hp output is about 398.
chip chip chip is better...bmw's 3.0 L engine is meant to crank up a lot more!! plus if you chip it, it will be more natural inspired...it is surpressed to not overrun the previous model of m3

@hsinhunglin be carefull thou with the chip if you over do it u reduce the life of ur engine by 80%. The more CC the engine ahs the less vounrable it gets to be ruined by chiped mods. 3 Liters is right on the border line, and extra 50 hp should be no prob. and watch out bmw might cancel your warenty if u do chip it, better go and ask them before u do it depends on who does it for you,. if u let ATU do it (since they are TUeF accepted warrenty remains) you should be fine

Once the turbos are upgraded along with fuel delivery, we will be seeing 600-700+hp 335i. This is no doubt mark my words.

It didn't sound like the e46 was trying but I don't know. I have an E46 m3 and I have raced a stock 335i sedan and he did OK against me. LOL, as fast? The 335i Sedan stock for stock is ALREADY faster than an E46 M3. Putting a tune on it will put it in the high 11s-low 12s, which is much faster than an E90/92 V8 M3, let alone a weak little E46 M3. Cheers, from Socal.
Thats bullshit, any 335 with just a tune will not see any type of 11's sorry. I agree it may be faster than an e46 m3, but going to 11's from a mid 13 stock car is a HUGE jump. Getting to mid 12's would be attainable with a good chunk of cash, but after that every tenth would come with huge compromises and huge amounts of cash.
dike27, you are generally correct. Most moderratley tuned 335i (Vishnu Proceed or JB3) are in the mid 12s but there are a few 'tune only' cars in the high 11s - drag radials and race gas mind you - trapping about 120.
Hmm yes I was assuming stock pump gas and street tires. Trapping in the 120's is no joke, and do that with a sub 1.7 60 and your flying. I just don't see that being the average 335 with an exhaust or tune, let alone the driver being up to getting the launch consistently to those 60' times
I have a 135i , its got a Vishnu V3 rev2 ( i prefer it, as its got built in o2 sensors, delimiter, and other features the JB3 doesnt) tune, AFE intake, Full Supersprint system ( downpipes), K&W adjustables and a new oil cooler ( essential for track use only)... the car does a 2.05sec 60ft on street tyres, 7.9 sec 1/8th mile at 145km/h and 12.3sec 1/4mile @185km/h... with drag radials its easily in the 11s... and thats on normal 98 ron petrol.
the guy forgets to mention this is in south africa - specifically in gauteng, which is at very high altitude. N/A engines are strangled by the low pressure air. turbos rule the landscape up here. actually its not fair on the e46
U read some stupidity around here, the 335i has twin turbo's, M3 is natural aspirated, and chipped means, simply said, higher boost on the turbo's. Oh and keep driving like that and ur turbo's wont see the end of the year,when chipped ;)

depends on what BMW would allow for boost...I worked for a BMW dealership and one 335xi (6spd) we had come in had a full turboback exhaust (custom tubular exhaust manifold) cai and Procede ECU upgrade... and rumor has it it was around 450hp (and idk if it was at the wheels or estimated) but seeing it run and driving it, it wouldn't suprise me if it was wheel hp.
Ur telling me the selltalk of chiptune companies, yes there's a greenzone to chip, but eventualy the turbo's will not last as long as they were standard. The temp in the turbo goes round 1000degrees when chipped. U dont need to tell me how it works, i already had 2 turbo's blown,But hey its your car, just a tip, let him cooldown after every drive before u turn him off and in very hot weather drive slower. Quattro, depending on what iteration your talking about, has the ability to distribute as much as 100% to any axle, but by no means does that mean it's often fwd bias. The Torsen 1 iteration was a 50/50 front rear split, and the Torsen 3 iteration moved to a 40/60 front rear split. Also, the reason Audi's have a lot of understeer is because the engine is placed to far forward over the front axle, especially the B6/B7 S4 models with the 4.2 V8...heavy.

@joshluvsdani for you information the 335i stock is better in every way than the e46 m3 (acceleration, breaking, etc), and yes is sad the same year the 335 came out in 2007 bmw were still selling and e46s for a way higher price than the 335i, only then in 2008 when the v8 m3 came out that was better, but no by much for the xtra $18k+ over the 335i, and with only ~$600 you can by th JB4 "beta" that will smoke the new v8 m3 by a lot

BMW made a very stupid mistake by putting 2 turbos on that 3 liter ingine. Because now 335i is allmost as fast as M3 cheaped is even faster), and 135i is faster than M1 wich will not come for the same reason.

straight 6 3.0 twin turbo.
1 series m coupe will be faster then e46 m3 by 12 seconds around the Nordschleife and a 135i is around 15 seconds slower around it than a e46 m3. But 1/4 miles a 135i is only 0.1 second slower tha e46 m3.
m coupe is going to be the true upgrade to the e46 m3.

I love the Internet people who will never own an m3 that say no other car can ever beat it. I love the m3 but clearly it was just beaten in a straight line by a chipped 335i. And to say a 335i can never handle like one is garbage too. The world of aftermarket is too vast to say that. You can make a Honda civic beat an m3 in most performance aspects. Of course not in appearance, luxury, sound etc but it can be done with enough money and proper tuning.

I'm pretty sure the e46 could go around a track a bit faster than a 335i just because the m3 was solely built for performance, while the 335i offers a balance between performance and comfort.
The m3 looks more agressive and it'll turn more heads.
When it came down to me, for 30k i could have gotten an "old" m3 (the e46 design has been out since the late 90's) or picking up an '08 fully loaded certified pre-owned 335i. I think the choice was obvious.

For the price you pay for chipping the 335 you can pay 3 grand more for a stage 1 hpf m3 upgrade which will put you at 630 rwhp that's almost double m3's 333hp stock... Buy an older m3 for 22000 then pay 13000 for the hpf stage 1 upgrade which comes with warranty and you've payed 35000 for a reliable w/ warranty better handling higher top speed 630 rwhp m3 shove that up your ass 335 owners it's a plain 3 series not a racing built machine

it is an active autowerks supercharger, check it out online it was around 7,800 of something when i baught it two years ago, and you get the ecu flashed from them, possible that we could get it done for free if we tell them we just need a reflash. also they have the injectors

Tuning a 335i from Dinan, their S3 package costs about 50K and you'll get approx an extra 100HP. So after the chip and modding total Hp output is about 398.

@hsinhunglin be carefull thou with the chip if you over do it u reduce the life of ur engine by 80%. The more CC the engine ahs the less vounrable it gets to be ruined by chiped mods. 3 Liters is right on the border line, and extra 50 hp should be no prob. and watch out bmw might cancel your warenty if u do chip it, better go and ask them before u do it depends on who does it for you,. if u let ATU do it (since they are TUeF accepted warrenty remains) you should be fine

Easy? No. Possible? Absolutely. You should keep an eye on the scene. They are JUST starting to tap into the cars true potential. All these cars with JB3 are putting about 360-400 hp to the WHEELS. Not the crank. And this is all on the stock fuel system(Which is absolutely craptacuular) as well as stock turbos. Look them up, they small as hell, smaller than srt4 turbos. Once the turbos are upgraded along with fuel delivery, we will be seeing 600-700+hp 335i. This is no doubt mark my words.

It didn't sound like the e46 was trying but I don't know. I have an E46 m3 and I have raced a stock 335i sedan and he did OK against me. Thats bullshit, any 335 with just a tune will not see any type of 11's sorry. I agree it may be faster than an e46 m3, but going to 11's from a mid 13 stock car is a HUGE jump. Getting to mid 12's would be attainable with a good chunk of cash, but after that every tenth would come with huge compromises and huge amounts of cash.

dike27, you are generally correct. Most moderratley tuned 335i (Vishnu Proceed or JB3) are in the mid 12s but there are a few 'tune only' cars in the high 11s - drag radials and race gas mind you - trapping about 120.

I have a 135i , its got a Vishnu V3 rev2 ( i prefer it, as its got built in o2 sensors, delimiter, and other features the JB3 doesnt) tune, AFE intake, Full Supersprint system ( downpipes), K&W adjustables and a new oil cooler ( essential for track use only)... the car does a 2.05sec 60ft on street tyres, 7.9 sec 1/8th mile at 145km/h and 12.3sec 1/4mile @185km/h... with drag radials its easily in the 11s... and thats on normal 98 ron petrol.

depends on what BMW would allow for boost...I worked for a BMW dealership and one 335xi (6spd) we had come in had a full turboback exhaust (custom tubular exhaust manifold) cai and Procede ECU upgrade... and rumor has it it was around 450hp (and idk if it was at the wheels or estimated) but seeing it run and driving it, it wouldn't suprise me if it was wheel hp.

Ur telling me the selltalk of chiptune companies, yes there's a greenzone to chip, but eventualy the turbo's will not last as long as they were standard. The temp in the turbo goes round 1000degrees when chipped. U dont need to tell me how it works, i already had 2 turbo's blown,But hey its your car, just a tip, let him cooldown after every drive before u turn him off and in very hot weather drive slower. U got a grown up car, now act like one.Greetz from Germany :)

im not selling shit, im letting you know the 335i comes factory detuned tuning it to the proper amount it should have been in the first place is not gonna do much damage to the turbos with a proper tune. greetz from Cali

335i doesn't need turbo cool down or any turbo timer. It has the new technology already there for turbo cool after you turn off your car.
