@metalwolf8 And so Tampa doesn't deserve a team because you THINK their fans left in a rough spot of the team's history? Do you have any proof? I've been to that stadium a few times for work, and let me tell you those fans are intense about sports even when their teams aren't doing well.
@metalwolf8 Whatever, dude. Tampa Bay is now a force to be reckon with now that Steve Yzerman is the General Manager, Jeff Vinik is the Team Owner, and Guy Boucher is the Head Coach. The Tampa Bay Lightning are ON THE RISE!!!!
@guitarz330 I'm an Avs fan too and I second that notion. Iginla is one of the good guys in hockey. I hated seeing Tampa win this Cup because I see it like most Canadian fans - southern hockey doesn't work and it's nothing more than Buttman's vanity project. Fire Buttman!
i wouldn't say that southern hockey doesn't work cause it does seem that tampa bay has a loyal fan following same with Los Angeles and even Phoenix didn't do too bad... ...but the Flames deserved the cup more than Tampa but Iginla's career is far from over.
@guitarz330 Phoenix didn't too too bad? Are you kidding me? Phoenix can't even draw 10,000 fans with the team they have, which by the way is a REALLY good hockey team. Phoenix ain't keeping that team once Quebec City is ready...they dodged the Winnipeg bullet but the second Quebec City has its ducks in a row that team's gonna be moving. I'd also like to see Hartford get a team, even more than Hamilton because with Hamilton you got the issue of Toronto, Buffalo, Ottawa close by.
well i guess you're right. see i just don't understand why people don't go to hockey games because i would be at every game if my city had a team. im from portland, oregon and all we got here is some shitty basketball team that everybody is on their knees for. phoenix should move here lol and i bould a center ice season ticket
@guitarz330 I'd love to see Portland get the NY Islanders if that franchise continues to have problems. Portland has supported the Winterhawks very well and I'd love to see them get the shot. It's far enough removed from Canucks country (Vancouver and Seattle) and yet far enough removed fom Shark territory (SJ and the Bay Area) to really create its own niche.
@thomasgreendog Bull shit calls are part of the game it goes both sides. Get over it Flames fan no matter what you say or think it will never change the fact that in 04 The Lightning are the champs that will never change like it or live in a fantasy world im still a bit pissed off the Saints won the bowl last year but i atleast accept that it happend and theres nothing I can do.
@DarthVader28 I agree, I'm also a huge Rays fan. I was pissed when they lost the World Series to the Phillies in 2008, but I'm over it. Flames fans - GET OVER IT!!!! What happened in 2004 between Calgary & Tampa Bay was a long time ago!!!!
oh god to all people who say it crossed the line think about this now i'm not say it didn't but don't you think it's funny how fair only seems fair when it happens to you?
Honestly one of the best Stanley Cup finals ever in NHL history. Both teams were quite unexpected to get that far, and both battled SO hard for it. If there was a series where both teams were EXTREMELY worthy of the Cup these two would be those two teams in my opinion.
I just moved back from Orlando to Switzerland and Im missing my Bolts already like hell. I just want to hit the I4 and heading to the Forum but everything is so far away. 2004 Stanley Cup is something ill never forget and gives me goosebumps while watching this video. Thanks for posting it mate.
I am the psychotic dude with the playoff growth and the C on the chest who brings in the broadcast. I thought I would never see this again. Our DVR malfunctioned and we lost the video. THANKS MCKAY~
This is one of the most amazing pregame opener pieces I have ever seen for any sporting event. It brilliantly depicts a competitive desire that seemingly borders on a psychotic madness. After last night's game I had to dig out this old game from 04 just to watch this piece on my tv again.
I'm from Canada, but have to say, NHL on ABC was awesome to watch:-)
Game 7 in the NHL playoffs is excitement in itself, but when it's for the Stanley Cup?:-D
Most of Canada was for Calgary, but I cheered for the Lightning, mostly because of Andreychuk, but also because LeCavalier, Richards, & St-Louis were exciting players to watch throughout that playoff run....:-)
This was a great series. Both teams played with so much passion. You gotta love a tough played series! I wanted Calgary to win but I'm happy Andreychuk was able to win a cup!
the funny thing is there was no game 7 tampa took it in 6 games

@rockndude87 Tampa was expected they were the #1 seed in the east lots of people expected them to go far but not Calgary
tupluck699 1 year ago
@tupluck699 That's true, I stand corrected...Calgary was by far the more physical of the two teams and I hope to see them back in the Finals soon.
rockndude87 1 year ago
It was a great series so much emotion so much heart but I think the cup never should have came back to Tampa because that Gelinas goal was in
