@shuby12 depends.. actually I'm planning on doing a bowflex vs powerbocks video real soon!! so stay tuned :)) for really heavy weights probably powerblocks.. but I'll explain fully in the video. If you're really anxious then just go to a store and compare the two.. both have advantages and disadvantages in size, speed of change of weights, etc. more to come in the video!!
I would need the larger model and honestly I am a little hesitant. It would really be a bad thing if the weight attachment mechanism broke and the weights fell on your head. I am sure these are well made and won't do that but I still don't feel that reassured since I have heard of the mechanism breaking.
@tomhalloween did you get them yet? i'm considering it. The price isn't bad really, the only thing i'm concerned about is how large they would be at 90lbs, and durability, i tend to drop my dumbells at the end of a set.
If you tend to drop your weights at the end of a set, you may have trouble with any/all of the adjustable dumbbell sets. These are not meant to be dropped - for example the SelectTechs have a hard plastic mechanism that holds the weight plates on, and with enough roughing will eventually wear out/break off.
Powerblocks are very durable though I've read that they have broken the mechanism from 3 foot drops. Try to get in the habit of carefully setting them down.
when did you get these? I'm just curious because the date on the video is April 2010, but these aren't the latest model (the 2009 model). You can tell because (a) the grip looks different, (b) the top has a grey band and not a red band
I thought these dumbbells were horrible. My brother was so excited when he got these and let me borrow them for a week. The length of these dumbbells are a big problem doing a lot of different kinds of exercises and the rattling is annoying. Its just not worth the money, the dumbbells just get in the way, the smaller static dumbbells are still the way to go if you're doing various kinds of workouts.
Excellent review. Most reviews of dumbbells are people breathing heavily into the camera and not really saying anything productive. I'm trying to decide between the Selecttech and the PowerBlock dumbbells.
@wcombs Hey thanks! Powerblocks definitely also have their advantages. I would go to a store and compare one next to the other to chose. Good lifting! Cheers
@Frankiej27 Hey there Frankiej27! No I don't use 90px. Lately my routine has been mostly boxing training (for mostly cardio and some strength training) and weight training. Cheers

MurfMedia 1 year ago
@MurfMedia It's not bad, I would go down to a store and compare it with it's biggest rival, the Powerblocks, I would choose one of the two
