Plus Donnymid also had flawed game play. In past versions of the winner's circle round, the guess word alone was accepted whereas in that version, the word had to be PHRASED correctly. Example, "Fattening FOODS" was not accepted for "Fattening THINGS" once
I know that here in Dallas, we got the Clark 1985-88 version at 5:30pm on KDFI Channel 27, following Mork & Mindy, and the Davidson 1991 version was seen at 11:30am on the local NBC affiliate KXAS Channel 5.
One other difference that it had "New" in the title was that Bill Cullen wasn't hosting this version. On the version taped in New York, Dick would host the network version of "Pyramid" in daytime, Bill in syndication at night.
You two are in the great majority. Seems that $100K is the version of Pyraid getting top priority on GSN, and it's just as well, seeing as how $100K is considered the more superior of all Pyramid editions.
That alone sucks, because GSN needs to stop acting like the $100K version is the only version worth watching, and that every other version is a piece of junk.
No. But if they do, I hope they bring back more than one version this time around.
I really think it's sad and depressing that casual viewers would rather watch the 1986-1987 episodes of the $100K version for the umpteenth time, till the tapes fall apart, than have interest in checking out other versions of the show.
It is rather upsetting, yes. It is also disappointing that GSN doesnt have the rights to the late 1983-mid 1987 seasons of The $25,000 Pyramid to rerun. I really miss the good old days of the USA Cable Network.
Well, GSN must have been the ones who decided to lease for everything that is owned by Sony one season at a time.
I mean, think about it, do you think Sony themselves are to blame as the main reasons you don't see more than one season of their shows on GSN? If anything, they're probably only partially to blame, and that the real blame should be placed on GSN.
Not anymore. Now it's jointly owned by Sony/Liberty Media. But to be fair, even after LM bought out GSN, they still continued to air multiple seasons/episodes of Sony shows. In fact, at one point, they had the 2nd and 3rd seasons of the 80's $100K Pyramid on their schedule. But after that dreaded changeover, GSN must have decided to lease for one season at a time for a Sony show.
So yeah, in short, I think GSN themselves is to blame for this.
It would be SO awesome if someone posted a full episode of The New $25,000 Pyramid from the 1983-1984 season here on YouTube. (sigh) one day, maybe....
its funny back in the 80's dick clark had a shown on all 3 networks bandstand on abc, bloopers on nbc and pyramid on cbs wow lol

WJHL-TV (CBS 11) "U.S. 11" & now CBS NewsChannel 11 in Johnson City-Kingsport-Bristol, TN-VA airs "THE (NEW) $25,000 PYRAMID" from 1982 to 1988.

While annoucning The (New) $25K Pyramid for a few years, Jack Clark would also announce Wheel of Fortune at the same time as well.

Which theme do you like better? This version, or the original "Tuning up?" I would love to hear a combination of both; they're both awesome!

Donny Osmond sucks as a host...the only game show best suited for him is a musical game show or NONE at all.

Reruns of the Cullen version were airing in syndication at this point, so they added NEW to the title after a few weeks.
