MKI also carries more advanced weapons....for eg. KS-172...longest Air-Air missile range in the world...upto 400km..

@rohitb3 India needed a fighter for its Air Craft Carriers that is why they chose the Rafale. The EF always beat the Rafale in dogfights as it has better radar, systems and agility (as good as the F-22)- the only difference being the F-22 is stealthy.
EF got beaten in some recent dogfights against Rafale. EF also lacks decent Air-Ground Capabilities....Talkin bout the Radar, both will have the most advanced AESA radar by 2015...so that's not a prob. But the thing we missed by not choosin EF is the new TVC controls which we were offered along with EF.
EF also offered a Carrier model, but Rafale is faar more Value for money....EF is unnecessarily overpriced for it's capabilities.

@rohitb3 It's been a while rohitb3 :) The EF is not supposed to be a Ground Attack platform, that is what the Tornado is for and what the F-35 will be used for mainly (by the RAF). The Rafale is better as a Carrier Borne air craft but over all the EF could, and would beat it. But that would mean the UK going to war with India or France so I don't think that they'll ever fire their weapons at each other in anger. They're both great planes (in their specific roles) but the EF has an edge.
And yes, EF does have a slight edge over Rafale......But costs almost 50% more than the Rafale.
Also,since the Su-30mki is already the most advanced frontline fighter, and the 2nd most advanced in our inventory is the HAL Tejas....we need a jet to bridge the technology gap between the two as a 2nd line of offence...
Maybe if we didn have the MKIs, IAF wud have chosen the EF...

RAF- showed picture of a training aircraft and a retired aircraft. With hundreds of Eurofighter Typhoons and Tornado GR4's aswell as Apache's and soon F35-C (5th gen multirole fighter) am pretty sure we should be higher than 5th, the RAF have showed numbers dont count for much, its all about the pilots and tactics.
While participating in the 2008 Red Flag advanced combat training exercises in the US, the F-15Cs, F-16Cs, and F-22s deployed by the USAF bested the Indian Su-30MKs.
Correction mate....USAF never used F-22 in Red Flag 2008.
And during the exercise Su-30mki didn use it's radars and it's data link was not compatible ith NATo data links, so didn use it either. Thrust Vectored Maneuvers were also not used.
Even after all these handicaps...there was a general acknowledgement that IAF had performed very well.
When USAF came to India in 2004, they also flew under some handicaps, but unlike IAF, they were Whitewashed.

They didn't face off with the Americans and go 61-1, they simply had a 61-1 kill:death ratio. If you knew anything about Red Flag you'd know that there's a very small American force (Red Team) vs the large combined military force which also includes Americans (Blue Team). That number looks good on paper, but it means nothing in real life

BAE also make the worlds most complicated warfare vehicles on the planet from invisible tanks to nuclear subs. We also own Lockheed Martin who make most of the parts of American Designed planes such as the B2. (a very useless plane thats never ever used).
so air cadets - taking control of an aircraft is very different from flying it, and you don't get to 'fly' and actual fighter jets like eurofighters etc, or fire any weapons. a far cry from learning how to fly it. mostly you just fly in light aircraft.

There is a lot more to a fighter plane than just being fast, stealth, agility, weaponry, sensors etc. None of the Su- series are particularly stealthy, and US avionics have always been better then Russian.

The US and the UK are working together on the worlds first 6th generation fighters. You're Argentine so you can't possibly start talking to me about good air forces. The EF is the best plane (apart from the F-22) in the world at the moment, it is as agile and carries better weapons. The UK and the US do still rule the skies and we Rule the Waves too!

RAF- showed picture of a training aircraft and a retired aircraft. With hundreds of Eurofighter Typhoons and Tornado GR4's aswell as Apache's and soon F35-C (5th gen multirole fighter) am pretty sure we should be higher than 5th, the RAF have showed numbers dont count for much, its all about the pilots and tactics.

Correction mate....USAF never used F-22 in Red Flag 2008.
And during the exercise Su-30mki didn use it's radars and it's data link was not compatible ith NATo data links, so didn use it either. Thrust Vectored Maneuvers were also not used.
Even after all these handicaps...there was a general acknowledgement that IAF had performed very well.
When USAF came to India in 2004, they also flew under some handicaps, but unlike IAF, they were Whitewashed.

I think we don't even have to use an anti-aircraft gun to shoot it down. Our SA80 will be enough for them.

China has no jet to match India's Su-30MKI.......Yes,theoritically China has a more powerful airforce,BUT a practical battle may be different as IAF pilots are much more experienced.
Russia has started the production of Su-35 which is better than MKI, and also they have a much larger size, so ,yes Russia is undoubtly stronger..

@yarin5051 The numbers you're referring to come from Red Flag, which is an international training exercise put on by the US at Nellis AFB. They didn't face off with the Americans and go 61-1, they simply had a 61-1 kill:death ratio. If you knew anything about Red Flag you'd know that there's a very small American force (Red Team) vs the large combined military force which also includes Americans (Blue Team). That number looks good on paper, but it means nothing in real life

I love all the TVC talk like it matters the only thing that matters are beyond visual range capabilities if your plane is stealth no one can see you beyond visual range.

@zezema535 I'm 13, i'm in HMS air training corps and i fly in (and take control) a fighter jet fortnightly. Second, BAE, (British Aerospace) have invented all most all regularly flow jets. BAE also make the worlds most complicated warfare vehicles on the planet from invisible tanks to nuclear subs. We also own Lockheed Martin who make most of the parts of American Designed planes such as the B2. (a very useless plane thats never ever used).

so air cadets - taking control of an aircraft is very different from flying it, and you don't get to 'fly' and actual fighter jets like eurofighters etc, or fire any weapons. a far cry from learning how to fly it. mostly you just fly in light aircraft.

DARPA makes the worlds most advanced technology, including vehicles - not BAE.

Funny how a good friend of mine who is a USAF Major agrees with me then :L and funny how one RAF EF2000 managed to outrun and lock on quicker to two F22s who were up against it? And I'll think you'll find that in P3 Orions they have a video camera with tape in it. Plus your Recce is terrible, more of our soldiers were killed by you lot at the start of the Iraq war than the Iraqis. I've worked with the Yanks, they cant work with other countries.
