For every idiot here who said that this is a wii-mote controller clone. Accelerometers exists since more than 20 years and this mouse use it. The wii-mote use an IR camera with a IR source (the sensor bar) to know it position in space. This mouse is using the same technology as the PS3 controller, the iPhone and many others. It is WAY more advance than a wii-mote position tracking system.
btw, youre information is kinda misleading, the wiimote ALSO uses gyros, but in cooperation with the ir, plus the wii announced the gyro thingy before ps3 was even thinking of it
There's plenty of games that use the accelerometers in the SIXAXIS. I can give you a list if you'd like. It's just that it wasn't designed to be used as a pointer (like this mouse for instance). And the wii-mote doesn't use them for that ether.
The iPhone use the accelerometers about everywhere. Do you know why? Because it just work, it doesn't need external hardware and is not a real battery sucker.
If you want to argue about who's first fine, have fun. That wasn't my point.
It is because accelerometers are more accurate than IR to track object in space. They doesn't need intensive data conversion to work (IR source to photo to coordinates) so there is no loss in the original data. Also, the original data is not full of garbage. Ever tried an IR cam? Now point it at the IR bar that came with your WII and try to isolate the little dots. The only way to add interference to an accelerometer is to put small blackholes all over the place.
reminds me about apples Magic Mouse

how long is it ???
please answer XD
Chrisimpact1995 2 years ago
Wouldn't it be tiring/annoying holding that thing up all the time? Good thing about a normal mouse is it's always resting on a flat surface.
region1111 2 years ago
It can also be used as a regular mouse.

In fact it use accelerometers but not for "mousing". And there where PS1 controler with accelerometers so yes, sony used it first.
KawazoeJapan 3 years ago
Correction: There were THIRD PARTY PS1 controllers with accelerometers.
It has been admitted that the PS3's accelerometer input was in response to Nintendo's inclusion of it in the Wii Remote.
And even if you argue ^ that ^ point,
If Sony's SIXAXIS is quote "WAY more advance than a wii-mote position tracking system" why isn't it utilized, AT ALL?
P.S.

For the way more advanced part:

wii remote doesnt have gyros yet.. that's what the Wii Motion Plus is adding.
brandon9271 2 years ago
Oh yeah, how do you suspect the nunchuck works? Pixie dust magic? The motion plus is supposed to smooth the Wii motion system.

I bought a custom HTPC from Xtreme Power Computers and this mouse came with it. I really like it. It's easy to use and it's really shiny. LoL.
