Love thrift stores and charity shops, probably about 80% of my wardrobe's from them. True you have to do some hunting but the bargains are there: I've found Ralph Lauren and Levi's jeans for £5, department store items for 10% their RRP, and with a bit of polish brand-new looking shoes for practically pennies. Plus a portion of your cash is going to a good charitable cause, it's win-win!
Sometimes I wonder why me and my date did not work out then after I watched your videos I realized I looked fat with a shirt that did not fit me (I took a pic on the date) . I'm actually an athletic guy and would have achieved more of a V shape with a shirt that actually did fit me.
im in my 29 years of age and stil dont know what to wear to suit my age. what should i wear to the mall? button down t shirt with jeans? snickers? or loafers? thanks. i disovered your channel today.
This reminds me of a time when I was in Vegas, I am walking next to my friend who was wearing, Louis Vuitton Shoes, Brand new True Religion Jeans and a Gucci Dress shirt and my outfit was worth less then just his shoes YET people came up to me saying "sick out fit" :D
wow!! I just found your videos and love them. I do all of my husbands shopping and sometimes run out of ideas as to whats it for men right now. Thanks and keep it up :)
@jcronin2009 he's right; thrift stores. check out crossroads trading if you live in california or buffalo exchange which are throughout the country. basically consignment stores.
Just wanted to say that thrift store shopping is what has turned my life around to be a fashionable male or "GQ" as some would say. Untill my wordrobe became to large to shop anymore, I would go to the Goodwill (thriftstore) once every month and spend about two hours each time in there. buddy i found some great suits, my best find, an untailored/un hemmed blue pinstripe Armani suit. $10.00 tonnes of great treasures in these places. Diamonds in the rough shall we say?.

Dude great stuff, but id add to that eBay, if you know your size and measurements, you will find some AWESOME stuff which pretty much guaranteed most people wont ever find in shops and will want to know where you got them from. Give it a look, maybe do a video on Internet buying and the risks so people know.
I spent $45 for alterations on 1 clothing. I had it tapered on the body to make it more fitted cuz it's too loose and then I had the sleeves shortened to fit perfectly. Was that a rip off??
@blackviper88 Depends on the item. Did you try on a size smaller? Did you buy a regular length vs. a short length? What is your height? What is your dress shirt size? It all depends. Sometimes you can try on a different brand that will have the same size written on the label, yet have a completely different fit.
I'm moving more into that professional part of my life and im finding out theres a lot more to the gentleman look than i had thought..i always had my g-ma and her band of old ladies with wine and cheese to help me lol...but now that im finishing up my jock/wrestler/emt/college days and shes not around..im having a hard time finding a good gentlemens dinner date look..im looking for a blazer, jeans, and untucked shirt combo but idk...nothing im finding seems to "work"
Hey Aaron i found an AWSOME store for designers suits and sport jackets at a very very low price! hope you mention this store more often and hope you can go check it out! "BURLINGTON" they have great great deals on everything! please go check it out!
Hi Aaron! I'm from Ireland and have been watching your vids! Some great advice and tips so thanks for taking the time to share it with us all. I was wandering what your thoughts are on headgear like hats etc? Havint found you doing a vid of that yet. Might be worth while doing? :D
I love your channel! My wife is so glad I found it and am taking your advice. Also, the thrift stores are AWESOME!!! I get a lot of nice stuff from there.
Goodwill and related type stores are not a bad place to look. In many cases you can find stuff that has never been worn and still has tags on them. I know a guy who got a pair of $300. boots for $15 and they were brand, never worn. Amazon grate site, $1500 suit for $150. I would go to Stein Mart as well. Better place for mens clothing than just TJmax.
Aaron, I'm planning to buy a new suit soon, and if you could give me some advice, I'd appreciate it. I'm rather short (5'6") and wear 36" suits. I've also discovered that sleeve length needs to be Short, as Regular sleeves reach to my knuckles!
Given that I'm a young guy (just out of undergraduate university), this is one of my first suit purchases. Previously I bought suit separates at department stores...J. Ferrar $100 coats.
You need to look for a suit that is a 36 or 38 short. They also come in Regular and Long. This will help with the sleve and jacket length. It is hard to say about a price, depending on where you shop and what stores you have. But, you should look for a sale 250-400 for a good suit on sale.
Very helpful. Thanks. "Budget" to a lot of other people out there means paying $30 for a t-shirt. If you're a student, that kind of thing doesn't help whatsoever.
Aaron: i've got some great things from Target, JcPenney, TJ Mtaxx and Target over the years, plus thrift stores, which either have a lot of nothing or a lot of a great thing. I lost my job over this past year (like so many others) and was blessed enough to find employment. But I have put together some great outfits at a fraction of what others pay. Like you, I work with highly paid guys who dress all dumpy and drab, while I look better for next to nothing. Merry Christmas, buddy!!
Hi Aaron, H&M in California have huge selections for men. Anyway, i wanted to ask you what colors, are in for the winter. ive seen more browns, grays and blacks displayed on stores now-a-days. For me they are too drab..but im scared to wear too much color as they may not fit the season..Also, is it true, its a NO NO to wear white shirt after Labor Day? Please enlighten me. Thanks
you forgot to mention Nordstrom Rack. They have designer brands 50 to 60% off the retail price. ive tried tj maxx and ross several times, gave up cos i cant find my size.. I agree Target is a great store to buy stuffs. i bought a great sweater for $15.. summer shirts for $10 a piece.
dont forget your local "good" store, i got my $1100.00 top coat for $110.00 at the end of the season and its a classic cashmerer topcoat, which fits grat over a jacket or suit, not so much over jeans and a tee, but cant beat the deals. got prada loafers at same store for 79 nbucks
great video aaron, wern't we just talking about this last mounth whe you were trying to help me (chris mortensen) how much was the jacket you r wearing? it is so cool! do you know about H&M stores. they have great clothes (that look like express) let me know whats up?
hey Chris, I do know about H&M. Most of their stores just have women's clothes, but some of the larger stores do have men's stuff. I gotta tell you that I was only in the store once, but the prices were great and they do have some cool stuff
I also want everyone to know that Macys and Dillards have incredible clearance sales a few times a year - 70% off regular price and then for 1 week at end of season an additional 50% off :) I've picked up designer clothes for 95% off!
yea Aaron like i told you before i work preowned furiture biz and i know people in the thrift stores they great clothes for almost nothing. once again great tips and great video. john from vegas
I worked with a guy who bought a crazy amount of stuff on ebay. Sometimes it was a good buy and worked, other times...not so much. But he just re sold the stuff that didn't work.
ive found stuff an consignment stores that were obviously made by tailors. like they were never finished, the pants were like 6 feet long, based on designers and stuff. you buy them and get them hemmed. then you brag about how you have a tailor. lol.
i think somebody ordered them from the tailor but never picked them up or changed their minds about them or something, so the dude just consigned them. nice stuff.
Aaron, as I watched this I was thinking "great idea about the thrift store sport coats, but he probably won't mention you have to change the buttons" but you did! Great Job, you truly cover everything. Just to let you know in Canada there's a huge chain called "WINNERS" which is the same thing as TJMax if you ever want to mention that in your vids. Great work, keep 'em coming!
if consignment stores dont sell stuff by like 90 days, the stuff goes down to half price. thats the trick, because mostly only women shop at those places. ive gotten tons of nice trendy ties too. and shoes.
ive got three tuxedos, two of which ive put together from parts at thrift stores and one i got all at once at a consignment for like $40. it's great if you're active in freemasonry. i've got a fat tuxedo and a skinny tuxedo, in case i blow up during the holidays. lol.
a good thrift store or two is invaluable. you have to know designers though. i've got a ton of ralph lauren, joseph abboud, kenneth cole, oscar de la renta, perry ellis, liz claiborne, pierre cardin, all awesome stuff. shirts, pants, blazers.
secondarily, consignment stores can be a gold mine. i got a nice powder grey pin stripe armani suit for under $100.
the only thing to be careful of is to look over the garment for stains.
I'm so glad you talked about those places, my best dressed friends are actually thrift store shoppers and i picked up the habit from them, I've found ralph lauren pants, my favorite levy jeans i have, banana republic pants, some other levy's all 3 bucks, i always find great stuff. I've also bought a few flannels and shirts from target. Right now is a really good time to save money even going into old navy, gap, pacsun, j c penney...great sales...checked it out 2 days ago =P
