Unfortunately not all countries have the same policies-- often they are encouraged by Western countries to deforest their forests so that we don't have to. There is a major shift going on though as we are reducing the amount of paper we use and people are becoming closer to nature. I think humankind does feel for Nature in every age.

I get goosebumps everytime the music starts when the Ents come out of the forest. Even after 10 years these movies have lost none of their power.

On a sidenote I always loved how they put in the accuracy with which Merry and Pippin throw the stones. It was explained in the prologue "concerning Hobbits" in the Books, that Hobbits have keen eyes and are natural born marksmen who can be deadly enemies with thrown stones or with Bow&Arrow. PJ loved putting those little details in.

@Wurzelknecht Too bad he didn't properly show this scene. The ents knew of the scorched ground there for soem time and decided to go to war after the entmoot as joint decision. However in the deleted scene you can see the Huorn's moving to Helm's Deep. Which is a nice touch.

@azurewrath999 To be honest that was one of the script changes I rather liked (at least concerning the pacing of the movie). The original scene was a bit anti-climatic with the ents already aware of the scorching and debating for days about it and then destroying Isengard offscreen. Also it gave Pippin and Merry a more active role by giving the evidence which prompted the ents into action. Yeah I love the addition of the Huorns. I consider the extended cut the superior version anyway.
