Lol. Van Damme has far more realistic training than him. He actually fought Muay Thai in the freaking Netherlands (better Muay Thai there than Thailand). Seagal on the other hand does Aikido, which is an art that does not spar (in other words, completely useless). There's no comparison in the real world. Seagal also pooped his pants in his last and only fight.

Frank Dux is infamous for being the biggest fraud in all of martial arts history. Almost everything he said he made up. He even went down to his local trophy store and had his trophies made for events which never happened.

@usmc965 VD has put several co actors and stunt people into the hospital, because at times he is incapable of judging distance correctly. Physique is irrelevant. Once you have seen a fragile old Tai Chi master throw someone built like VD around like a crumpled up newspaper, you will change your mind. Muscles will fade, but internal strength will increase in time. My 70 yr old Tai Chi master withstood pushes from 3 men simultaneously. I doubt that "brussel sprout" could have moved him either

Van Damme has a record of 18-0 in kickboxing. That's Dutch Kickboxing btw. So yeah, he's actually the most qualified out of all the movie martial artists out there (including Bruce Lee). Seagal on the other hand does a martial art that doesn't spar and is based entirely on trying to flip your opponent by twisting their wrist. The closest thing to a fight he's had was when Gene Lebell choked him out and made him poop his pants.

I'm not aware of any aikido chokes (there are in aikijutsu)...he may have thought "you can't choke someone out that fast, and volunteered.

Well it wasn't an actual fight. Seagal boasted he could escape a choke using the ki in his neck (this is actually a common, weird belief in Aikido).

This sounds plausible. I find it difficult to believe there was a "fight". There is no shame in not being able to escape a choke, ESPECIALLY when you are not in a life or death fight. What are you going to do, gouge the guy's eyes? No. Also the "pooping" bit is silly: if you gotta go, and you get unconscious, it's gonna happen. the way people repeat it it's cowardice or something.
Supposedly what happened was Gene put a choke on him twice. The first time Seagal tapped and said he wasn't ready. The second time he supposedly tried to hit Gene in the nuts with a backwards ridge hand, and Gene just held on to the choke till Seagal was out. I do believe the story. All of it is nothing out of the ordinary and adds up given what we know of the personalities involved.
The pooping thing is pretty rare even in BJJ competition, but does happen on occasion when you go unconscious.

Yes I agree Chuck Norris is a bit more real than others like Bruce Lee or even JCVD. Van Damme had a damn good fighting career too, but he's a bit nutty. Chuck Norris received his BJJ black belt from the Machado brothers before UFC 1. That alone is enough.

At the age of 12 he joined the Centre National De Karate (National Center of Karate), studied there for 4 years till he made the Belgian Karate Team. He particiapted in several tournaments. He has a Karate and kickboxing record of 20 Wins (all by K.O), 2 Losses , 0 Draws. In 1980 he won the European Karate Association's middleweight championship.

Seagal trained under the best in their art in Japan and most respected teachers. Common sense wise: Seagal 6'5" 300, V. D. 5' 9" around 165.

Van Damme has a record of 18-0 in kickboxing. That's Dutch Kickboxing btw. So yeah, he's actually the most qualified out of all the movie martial artists out there (including Bruce Lee). Seagal on the other hand does a martial art that doesn't spar and is based entirely on trying to flip your opponent by twisting their wrist. The closest thing to a fight he's had was when Gene Lebell choked him out and made him poop his pants.

This sounds plausible. I find it difficult to believe there was a "fight". There is no shame in not being able to escape a choke, ESPECIALLY when you are not in a life or death fight. Supposedly what happened was Gene put a choke on him twice. The first time Seagal tapped and said he wasn't ready. The second time he supposedly tried to hit Gene in the nuts with a backwards ridge hand, and Gene just held on to the choke till Seagal was out. I do believe the story. All of it is nothing out of the ordinary and adds up given what we know of the personalities involved.
The pooping thing is pretty rare even in BJJ competition, but does happen on occasion when you go unconscious.

@adam29e I'm sure your not talking about those little fights he had against a bunch of nobodys in Brussells, Belgium. He's never been in any Major competitions against any serious competitors. Those bunch of nobodys would have been practice fodder for any real martial artist. Van Damme's highest compliment is that he practiced a few times against Chuck Norris. Ask Don 'the dragon" Wilson if Van Damme is the real deal and if he ever fought anyone.

@HUNTER7697 Van Damme never sparred with Don Wilson. Wilson, unlike Van Damme, was a world champion many times over. Ask him what he thinks of Van Dammes so called martial arts abilities. He, along with so many real martial artists over the years have made fun of Van Dammes so called background. Who ever trained Van Damme. He is more accomplished in Ballet. Seagal trained under the best in their art in Japan and most respected teachers. Common sense wise: Seagal 6'5" 300, V. D. 5' 9" around 165.

@Vader58 Aikido versus ballet. Yawn. Neither is even related to fighting. Van Dyke would ponce around, doing the splits every five minutes and Seagal would realize that, in real life, you can't grab a fist when a REAL punch is thrown, but I'm sure he'd make a good show of being serene and spiritual as if either of those things are truly related to martial arts. (They aren't. That crap has been tacked on since martial arts stopped being used every day in war for their one true purpose)
