@petemcewan: Sure, in the Middle Ages the Scots were a quite warlike remedy for any English annoyance, we French had therefore a constant alliance with them; but once Oliver Cromwell had subdued Scotland the Scots never reclaim their freedom and there last serious attempt was the Battle of Culloden which was a devastating defeat; and that same Oliver Cromwell did also subdue Ireland but the Irish continued their revolts against the English, though the USA had a hand in it 1920.
One cannot deny that the Irish are much more restive than the Scots or Welsh, who accepted the English rule after some centuries, but the Irish started uprising after uprising for 700 years, though of course Catholicism did help them a lot as it did divide the conquerors from the conquered and became somewhat a substitute for the missing political entity of the Irish; by the way: The fighting scenes look quite good; can someone tell me from which movie they are taken?
On one hand, fuck imperialism, and throw the invading bastards out. On the other hand, killing in the name of one type of Christianity is hardly what Jesus had in mind.
alright gotta question that needs answering but do the irish still support the ira or no? and do the ira actually smuggle drugs or is that the brits lying trying to seem like the good guy?
@nitewolf89 Yes alot of people still do support the I.R.A and the other question yes the Brits are still trying to look like the good guys search up bloody sunday and you see hope it helps.
@Irishandpround1 ah ok i know what happened with bloody sunday british paratroopers shot innocent civil rights marchers. there are 2 bloody sunday events aren't there 1 is when michael collins killed the g men and the one with the marchers?
@Irishandpround1 you know it just occured to me that mexicans and the scots and the irish have a few things in common what i mean is the irish were invaded by a foreign force and made into slaves by the vikings and lot worse. the aztecs in mexico were also nearly wiped out by the spanish from what i heard they also made them into slaves.
@Irishandpround1 Your probably wondering how i know these thing bout irish history the thing is i love history and everything that is in my blood i look into such as Mexican,German, and Irish. oh also American history lol
The brittish pick on little countrys like the Falkland Isles, Ireland, Scotland, we threw them out of here in 1780, and they still tried to think they were big enough to come back in 1812, such a cowardly nation still today, I acutally hate brits, most useless nation on earth. God Bless Ireland & Scotland
One of the best , i think earliest rebel songs, put to a very well made video, i tell ya im that sick of it all over the internet , i suppose the only saving grace, is that now the world gets to see, lovely brits the way we had to, slán Dan
A small detail : The rising of the Tricolour on the GPO for the first time was done by two young girls who were sent as messengers from Bolands and certainly not in any uniforms, they barely had shoes to wear.....I wonder does anyone remember those brave girl's names ?
An Bhratach Náisiúnta was in fact first raised above the General Post Office along with a green flag with words Irish Republic so in part you are historicaly correct.
cannot help with girls names but the I.C.A. flag (starey plough) was hoisted over the imperial hotel (opp.G.P.O.) by vol. John Byrne andSam King on the Tuesday
