Thanks for this video. It worked for me on a Presario V2000. Make sure not to put the board in flipped or the cover won't fit on! Besides going dark sometimes, the screen was getting some "black noise" on it. Now it looks almost like new.

@KilledCZ Sounds like the data cable that feeds the LCD is loose or damaged. It's usually plugged in under the keyboard. Depends on the model how you would get the keyboard out to check it.

I've had a few dead laptops given to me and I've used parts off them to fix other laptops. I used the invertor out of one to fix a friend's laptop.

I did this to my Toshiba Satellite a135 laptop but didn't change the inverter. I just opened it up to make sure it was the same concept as it was with urs. But When I put it back together and turned it back on the LCD screen was just giving me a bunch of random colors and wouldn't change it's image..

I have an HP Pavilion dv6000 with a screen that doesn't light up. Since it works on a different monitor, I'm guessing it's the ccfl lamp or the inverter. Amazon.com is selling an lcd screen for about $94. I'm willing to pay 94 bucks. I have heard it cost about as much as the computer itself, so I'm surprised. Anyhoo, DOES THE SCREEN CONTAIN THE CCFL LAMP AND INVERTER? Anybody know?

I have a similar problem with my Compaq Presario V2000 laptop. I replaced the LCD cable and inverter but the screen remains dim even when I press the close/monitor switch. I then bought a new LCD screen but no avail. It still goes into standby/hibernate mode if I press it but it doesn't lit up.

OK OK OK! Before you even TRY this:

I was about to do the same but then I googled some things up and there was a thread and someone posted this comment. '' Yeah, I had this to, clean the aerator and that will probably do the job IF you are not to late. If you are you'll have to repair the BACK LIGHT'' So I took my vacume cleaner and put it on highest mode en cleaned the aerator of my laptop and guess what... It did worked. Oh and what you could also try is: Remove the battery, then put it back.

Where do you buy an inverter? I cleaned the fan on my Hp v1000, it had lots of dust, the fan works fine now, the laptop turns on but the screen is black, I can hear my pc running.

I aslo ordered a new inverter from the suntekstore on ebay and replaced my inverter with the new one. But now when I turn in my HP, a high-pitched noise emits from the inverter and the screen does light up, but seems to struggle to stay on. Did I do something wrong?

I thought that mine had this problem and it probably does b/c the backlight is very low but now I can't power it up to turn it on & some more troubleshooting. I've tested my ac adaptor & its getting the proper voltage (19v) but the connection seems loose in the back. After asking some questions and a little research would this be the internal power jack/supply or the dreaded motherboard? Please help...

I had this same issue - I replaced the inverter and it is still having the same issue... Which cord would I be looking for a short in... I can press on the upper left switch and get it to flicker, but it will not stay on for more than a few seconds and I have socured all over the net to find a solution, ran across this video and have not had much success finding anything else to help me with this crazy thing... GUys! I found the problem. I think the cause could have been many things. I solve the issue by using a different baterry charger/adpator. I have 2 exact notebooks, so i tend to switch their chargers, maybe taht was the problem, also i was in south america, where the voltage is diff 220v. I believe the charger with the problem was ruined during my trip? Who knows. But it work for me. The other sugestions here didnt work

I had the same problem. I have two exact notebooks. What i did is that i switch the inverters. The computer with the black screen start functioning fine. and my other notebook was also working fine. So it wasnt the inverter. Howevere that didnt solve the problem because it turn black again after i used the external monitor output, i tend to use another monitor, Somehow that casues the issues. yea... you would have to change it.. the screen inverter has different causes just like the one u are having.. like for example.. screen to dim that u might need a flashlight to kind of see the picture. the prob above .. best bet would be change the inverter and screen should be fine. if it ain't that it might be the backlight.. but 90 percent its ur inverter.. find it in ebay.. they are cheap i got mine for 20 bucks jajaja

Nice Video! I need to know after removing the cover around the screen how I can tighten the hinges on a DV1000 when they start to allow the top 1/2 to wobble? They seem to be sealed/non serviceable. Hope I'm wrong though. They look like a pain to replace. I haven't taken any case/out side covers off the lower end yet..

I bought my piece from suntek and it seems to be too large for my dv1000 because the bottom part of the covering plate does not snap together properly. Do you have the same thing?

If you're planning on replacing the backlight CCFL bulb, just go ahead and get a new LCD. It will save you a ton of time and energy! I just tried to replace my boss's backlight only to break the new one in my hand. They're way too fragile
