  • this mix is on pirate bay, it's 34 mins long

  • lucky bastards

  • his live mixes are way better than his released mixes :(

  • ziggomatic live.....lucky people ! ! !

  • not drill n bass lol

  • TOMORROW <3<3,£,£,£<<£,£:,£:,L;L,3;L<£;L,£:L,;£< holy fuck

  • this saturday london hyde park aphex twin 2hr set + mdma+ 1 drop of acid! it's gonna be an experience to say the least!!!!!!

  • what the fuck is drill and bass? this is breakcore...

  • @afdba lmfao this is not breakcore, get the fuck out of here

  • @tuneinfuckoff Heavily chopped amen breaks in a complex pattern makes it pretty much breakcore.. it comes from hard breakbeat music kiddo.

  • @afdba Yeah, try and use the word kiddo to make it sound as though you're right. Breakcore does not just mean chopped amen breaks and a complex patterns, you retard... breakcore is almost entirely sampling. There is chopped up amen breaks in all kinds of drum and bass, jungle and DRILL N BASS. Does the fact that Aphex Twin himself billed this on the poster as a 'DRILL N BASS SET' help you understand? Go look at Stunt Rock, Bong-Ra, Shitmat, and Enduser for some breakcore.

  • @tuneinfuckoff I didnt mean that only chopped amen breaks makes it breakcore. it still is it.. This still sounds pretty much like fuckedup jungle, breakcore, acid to me. Ive even heard that Richard D. James said "what the fuck is drill and bass". i think its some cute little subgenre made by some idiots on Youtube. Obviously there seems to be no understanding between us since eveyone decides in what genre this goes to.

  • @afdba Well yeah to be fair genre-lising music is pretty lame to be fair, I wouldn't call it breakcore but then I don't really care that much and I'm still gonna listen to it ;_;

  • @tuneinfuckoff Thats right! i just downloaded the full set and that shit is allmost crazier than venetian snares.

  • @afdba Yeah the full set is hectic... around 20mins or so it's just like full on gabba or something haha

  • @tuneinfuckoff It rocks! im going to see Richard live next month. cant wait. hope its as crazy as that.

  • @afdba ahhh how much id love to see him live :(

  • @afdba Yo... realise we commented each other like half a year ago... I just downloaded this set again, was wondering if you happened to know some of the tracknames from 8 minutes in to 18 mins!? so badass in that period. i have ziggomatic, 100001 style, soundwall VIP.. after that i need to know the tunes so bad!!

  • @tuneinfuckoff no idea but thankyou for the other tracks names haha. and if you have any idea id love to know the last songs name he played at the end in ilosaarirock 2011 /watch?v=SjEyEktQlSc it was a crazy ass gabber set he played here haha

  • @tuneinfuckoff xaxaaxaxaxax respect for that

  • ziggomatic v17 remix made by aphex twin :D

  • Johnny Jungle !

    Krome & Time !

    Amen Andrews !

  • Comment removed

  • anyone got the full set of this,it was on john peel at the time but i lost my tape copy and cant find it to download anywhere!

  • The more you listen to Aphex Twin... the better the songs are... even if they were amazing from the get-go.

I discovered that the songs I like the most from Aphex Twin are after one year of listening to them - then I have a proper opinion about them. It's that complex.

  • You can find my upload of this full Aphex set by typing aphex twin heavy dj set into the pirate bay :) enjoy

  • I have uploaded my recording of this full set for all you @ thepiratebayDOTorg/torrent/4648365/APHEX_TWIN_-_LIVE_-_HEAVY_DJ_SET

  • that would of been sick

  • FULLY SICK BRAH

  • thx god, an Aphex live vid with Hi quality!! Would be great to have more like this on YT!

  • omg i love how ziggomatic17 comes in out of fucking nowhere. this shit is the greatest ever. i wish he would do a show like this everyday everywhere.

  • 3:20 he take something from the past re-elaborate it, and .. oo what? ah well whoah

  • no no, let me clarify this to you, the people are not dancing because their brains are :) try to dance in the speed of light there....

  • Nice mixes together lol... Squarepusher - Red Hot Car (Girl version whit CHinease king fu bvvideo on YT) and then theres some Acid tracks of his AFX alias from Chosen Lords and other early AFX acid collections like ANALord, etc.

  • Temple Bar in Dublin i think.

  • I hear ziggomatic 17

  • @Tehmuumi Yeah!!!

  • pretty good quality! thanks for uploading!

  • was this recorded at glastonbury, glade stage '03?

  • more more moreeeeeeee!!!

  • hey hey hey hey

  • if it is available that is.

  • Where is this and when and does anyone know where this set is on mp3?

  • this is proper jungle

  • dunnp why but i don't feel any emotion in this music nor does this stirs me rhytmicly

  • The fuck you talking about? Are you on drugs? Have you no ears?

  • the reason is because it doesnt have any melody or rhythm, its just drums played in fast succession, its messy and just for kind of jumping around to

it doesnt have any deeper meaningful musical thought, try some liquid dnb like danny byrd & Brookes brothers - gold rush

  • @Stefan2SERB

If you can't find the rhythm in drill & bass then you are tone deaf.

  • @Stefan2SERB you idiot - "doesn't have any deeper meaningful thought" - are you mental? Aphex & Squarepusher were making music over a decade ago that STILL sounds like it's from the future.

  • @satanisback It's not for everyone apparently. I guess the emotions it evokes in me don't fit squarely into "happy" or "sad". I would describe it as somewhere between, nostalgia, a hilarious menacing sense of fun and an almost uncomfortable need to dance. That and a kind of deeper amorphous "brainy weirdness" which i quite like the feeling of.

  • @satanisback

I can agree with you.. I used to like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher etc a lot, but it got boring after a while. The ..is it "drill and bass" just doesn't affect me since there doesn't seem to be any rhythm to it. All steps are just filled with notes and rhythm so it's really hard to follow one. All beats are equally loud, nothing to hang on to.

I still love songs like "Start as you mean to go on", "on".. Last week I couldn't even dance to DnB!! I guess I'm getting old!!!!

  • haha, guess i know how you're feeling

  • @slackdave ; well that's the thing about drill n bass and idm and that kinds of music, it's about following which paths the beats are going, it's not about trusting on a beat like popular music. that's what I don't like about the popular shit, people just want to listen to something they already heard so that they're not unfamiliar with it.

  • @RetroboytimoMUSIC

..I went to see Venetian Snare last week. It all turned into a mosh-pit, which was the beast way to deal with the madness. I started off just listning, which got kinda boring in the random snare mess. Moshing made it a lot more fun!

  • @slackdave thisi sn't drll'n'bass, Aphex - Girl / Boy Song, and Deadmau5 - Nice Try Kiddo, and Squarepusher's Big Loada and Hard Normal Daddy album have(Beep Street , Journey To Reedham, Port RHombus) Allso; this is hard Jungle, your getting old, so go shoot yourself, oldman!!!!

  • @MagnitudePerson

Why don't you go do some more name dropping, you'll stay young longer.

COME TO DADDY(6) hehehe yeah!

    suerte! adios!

  • bad bwoy sound, i want dem all to killa sound!

  • What was your first encounter with Reason?

Funnily enough it was Aphex Twin who had an early beta version - he was the first person who showed it to me, and I thought "what a wicked idea". The fact that it looked like a studio was a definite turn-on for me; I loved to see a bit of actual gear simply represented in a rack. I never liked the

  • Aphex Twin use Reason!

  • Aphex twin does, but most of the software he uses is written by himself.

  • Ohhh YEAH! this is Great! Drill n Bass!!!!!!

  • Download his 08 Oxygen set,was in Dublin like this one,he played bunch of drukqs stuff.

  • i wanna take acid and dance drill and bass!!!!

  • @TheDVNO you'd have to be able to dance in the speed of light to get close of dancing to drill n bass. richards music breaks the sound barrier allmost anyway. and dope acid before it? wanna know where the word "braindance" came from

  • @afdba since when is there a BPM limit on dancing? plenty of jungle DJs play tracks at this speed, and it's quite danceable. this isn't even that fast.... and most of this set is ragga jungle..... learn some shit fools

  • @clubhappybest darling i wasnt serious at all. ofcourse you can dance to this, whould you expect people to stand straight at breakcore parties. neither did i.

  • i really would like to see him life playing come to daddy

  • he released some live tracks on 'classics' but never an entire live set, he doesn't really enjoy playing live it seems.

  • second song is ziggomatic 17 from drukqs

  • Aphex is my fave electronic artist ever

  • Imagine if him and Jojo Mayer made a group.

  • Did u rly had nothing better to do than filming it when u where there?

  • hahaha! lol!

you're right! ... i certeinly had not the courage.

i would be in another dimension ououou!

  • Did RDJ ever release any live albums?

  • I have a compilation of live tracks called "Live Collection" but not sure if its official.

  • Where'd you get it?

    Torrent or CD or something?

  • хуяссе! Джеймц играет драмдонбас?

  • infact i can honestly say i heard them say it on pirate long long before they were sampled by 808 it was their trade mark bass warning

  • i used to listen to asterix n space in their scr days i followed them thru years and to the limit i have a box full of old tapes of their sets on fantasy fm hard core fm and scr pls get in touch

  • You should upload them, i'd love to hear them. I was only 9 when the whole Rave/Hardcore sound was breaking so i missed out. It's an era which really interests me.

  • how is ziggomatic 17 so great

  • Great sound!

  • I'm sorry to inform you that you have no taste, good sir

  • im starting to like the drill n bass genre

    anyone have any good recommendations?

  • drill and bass was never a big genre, there are just a handful of records. records: aphex twin - richard d. james aphex twin - come to daddy some stuff on aphex twin - drukqs µ-ziq - lunatic harness wisp - almost every release.. (new release this year on repflex records) the flashbulb - almost every release ... drilled drums are used in the genre "breakcore" as well. check my channel for this kind of music. take care, bitches!
  • Try searching for "seo taiji - moai".

I don't know much about drill n bass, but this song seems to be first try of drill and bass as main accompaniment to a song (trying to create drill n bass as a genre) well at least first in Korea anyway i think. Seo taiji's 'human dream' and 't'ikt'ak' are also in this single.

  • squarepusher - go plastic

that's a pretty solid album of the genre i think.

    awesome album.

  • @andrewzot Mr Krome & Time- The License

  • nice one for posting.

  • tooooxic

  • god song

  • ziggomatic is the sickest aphex song

  • considering his mastery of ambient and acid, the way he is pwning dnb and jungle in this set is truly mindbottling.

  • aphex is a genius.

    end of the story.

  • Damn straight.

  • @insectovoir Fuck DNb, Jungle and Drll'N'B(Drill'N'Bass) is wheres it at, checkout Deadmau5 - Nice TRy Kidod, no beatj ust a drill and streaming sonic effect. saying that Experimental Jungl like this is good too, but NOT DNB, i hate Pendulum, only hardcore dark/industiral is good.

  • ziggomatiC!

But,why he wont play her own songs when he is Djing??

  • ????

  • he got to much material.the only way to hear his free$tyle stuff;is to go live!.

  • it's a boy fool! and HE plays exclusive songs live!.

  • @necrosifilis

    u high?

  • @necrosifilis

    because bananas

  • if you listen to the one minute mark ,he starts to play motor by marco minnemann if you want to check it out to se a live drummer playing that peculiar style

  • Do you have the rest of this video?

  • I love RDJ. I love his rhythem.

  • < Venetian Snares

  • maybe in this genre but not when considering RDJ's entire range of talents/genres and vast discography.

  • what is the difference between drill n bass and drum n bass?

  • The drum and bass is a drum loop touched on a line of bass, and the drill and bass, it is extremely hard and can be considered an accelerated version of DnB or Jungle. There are many strange noises and punk material.

  • Yeah, drill & bass is a lot quicker and the samples are cut up a lot more, sometimes until you can't recognise the original sample. Plus, the musicality of it is quite mathematically precise apparently. However, RDJ is playing jungle here, not many people would consider this drill 'n' bass.

  • man i wonder what kinda headphones he's got there? haha.

  • great, i like.

  • Fluffycrab:

This sample (watch ur bass bins), comes from 'Infiltrate 202' by Altern 8 from 1991...where they got it from, who knows! :)

    HTH

  • Thanks for clearing that up, I love that sample!

  • It came from an old pirate radio show hosted by Asterix & Space. It was introducing one of ALtern-8's other tunes. They liked it and sampled it! I believe the full sample is "You're tuned to Asterix & Space, Watch yer bassbins i'm tallin ya"

  • wow! Aphex twin playing jungle! That's something you woun't see every day... :)

  • what you people like in D n B?

  • In popular music (music on MTV) the drum tracks are so boring. I personally listen to drill n bass because of the complex drumtracks

  • btw DnB usually means drum´n´bass

  • Yeah me too Drum'n'bass is too slow for me.What's your favourite Drill'n'Bass artist.I like Mercurial..

  • I haven´t really listened to many Drill´n´Bass artists because I just recently discovered the genre. Aphex Twin is the best I have heard so far. Unfortunately I haven´t had time to search for new artists

  • check out Bogdan Raczynski if you havnt already!!! :)

  • drums and rythm... the bass ;)

  • amazing quality of sound and filming. is it available full-length ?

  • Hey does anyone know where the "Watch ya bass bins" sample originates from?

  • an old pirate radio station. 2 DJ's played an old Altern-8 tune and introduced it as "You're tuned in to Asterix & Space, watch your bassbins i'm tellin ya". Altern-8 heard it and sampled it on Infiltrate 101

  • Cheers, i've always wanted to know

  • Ziggomatic 17 rulez!

  • I agree :)

  • one of my favs

  • yuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmyyyyyyyyyyy

  • exactly what I was thinking

  • hmm.. starting to wonder, if you put chuck norris to the amen 150 break, could he touch afx? i'm seriously doubting it, and I'm guessing the mixes he is slamming here are probably cut on his own vinyl cutter meticulously mapped and designed to absolute perfection as always... cause it sounds like undeniably the best breaks "." <--period oh.. and a little shout out to the Pusher

    *BUTT BUTT POW*

  • Tonight AFX in ROME!!!!!!!

    WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

  • THERE'S A TURNTABLE ON THE DESK...

  • uh fuck...lots of people dancing and having fun...i envy them...uhhh.....

  • This was incredible.

  • Silly folks, he is not playing "live". He is dj'ing, using a laptop, mixer and turntables for a few records here and there. The first track playing is "Bad Boy Sound" by Krome and Time from about 1994, next one is one of his own tracks off Drukqs, then next after that is "1000001 style" by Amen Andrews (luke vibert) then "Soundwall V.I.P mix" by Dom & Roland. You should know your british junglist/drum n bass history better folks!!

  • OH MY GOD! that was the best 8 mins of my day! solid aphex crushin amen jungle style goodness :D great video too! good audio

  • Every audience member looks like they're on either pills or acid.

  • god i remember this! this was at an All Tomorrows Parties festival. I remember taping this off John Peel's show, i came home early from skating to get it. I have since lost the casette tape so if anyone has an mp3 of this set please hit me up.

  • If someone finds an mp3 for you, would you mind passing me the link? This is brilliant stuff.

  • the dnb is prolly a pattern loaded up on his laptop... he also prolly has a 303 under that desk thing... he uses the turntables to cue his samples

it doesnt sound like hes using a mixer...

maybe a 606 as well for some of those out of place snare and high hat kicks.

  • aphex uses only laptop, midi mixer (reconfigurated?)with effects and one external hd.

i saw it during liveset in 2005 ;)

  • He is not playing "live", he is dj'ing records and using a laptop to play tracks.

  • Nah, the first tune is a Krome & Time remix of Johnny Jungle's "Killa Sound".

  • I dislike alot of uneducated people who say james "talks a lot of shit"

they are usually stupid black mongrels

  • its fairly easy to recreate james's music in reason 3.0 if you study it for a year... not saying he isnt awesome... he is...

  • Yes maybe... I find that reason 3 has weird artificial limitations sometimes, but that said, the nn19 sample player is pretty powerful when used with cv routings.

Still, it's a pain in the *ss to create good core sounds- unless you want really digital sounding stuff (which is totally not what rdj sounds like).

  • damn f 'ing right

  • SICCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC :)

  • Damn, first i used to be like :S with aphex twin stuff, but today i was shouting FIGHT, FIGHT, FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT.......this guy effects the brain nerves.

  • That first track is bangin'. Who is it??

  • yerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ,,,,, not heard anything better than it by aphex twin ,, whats the name of the set mmm where can i download it ??? ,,, amazing

  • foooookin luv it

  • fukin psyco path .....lov it.

  • Is this on dvd, the quality looks way too good be be unoffical!

  • were you recording audio from the board or what?

  • The gr8test dj everrrrrrrrrr

  • He's a fckng genius!

  • the people cant even move its so intense. i remember when this style first came on the seen.

  • This is in temple bar music center isnt it?

  • hei guys look 4 The Tuss (alias AFX) "Rushup edge" new krazie album Out Now!!!

    im lovin'this Genius Boy!!

  • is it really made by Afx or just his friends at Rephlex?

  • you can see from 2:30 onwards that it is none other than the great Richard.D.James himself

  • oi u lot this is fuckin wicked! i thought i knew my aphex twin but this is DREAD! love it and also lovin the EXCELLENT sound quality! big up ya self there m8!

  • EXCELLENT RECORDING!

  • haha, ziggomatic 17!! Im getting fed up with the amen break tho...

  • fuckin brilliant! nice one Zupamen!! :)

  • ahhaa just joking, it did say drum n bass the other day, though i would say it was drill n bass, but genres are annoying to be honest, i mean call itt anything?!?!!??!?!!??! its good:)
