Went to my finace's Naval Training Graduation this year and I have never been more impressed with a drumline like I was at the graduation. Fantastic! Hooyah Navy!!
i am one who doesn't agree with the war, but for those who are going to, already at, or coming back from the war.. my take my hat off to you all... you guys survived something most civilians that dont wanna go through and to protect us...
First of all, I have respect for all branches, my family has covered them all and anything from enlisted to officers. Second, the USMC did come from the US Navy. Third, it's college, not collage.
@SoundsVocalistic Honor courage commitment is a Marine Corps saying and I'd really appreciate the Navy quit saying it cuz there is no comparisson and the Navy is as undisiplined as the Air Force!!!!! Believe me...6 mos on USS Enterprise and 6 mos on USS Harry S Truman. Join the Corps!!!! Well at least your serving and aint running to collage like a bitch!!!!! Have Fun!!! Semper Fidelis!!!!
i got placed in a 900 div.. flag company (wow, big deal). we had 15 wash outs and 5 (one week) set backs. we also had an E-6 and an E-5 from the airforce in our company. they kept quit for the first week??? we had only one CC. MS1 Aires. this dude had eyes, not only in the back of his head......everywhere. he knew everything. before FMJ came out, he sounded just like r lee ermey. he (Aires) took a swing at me once, on purpose.

@caligulaincarnate Just keep reading them out loud, and say the number of the order as well as the order. I took a psychology class and it also helps to have imagery to help with remembering things. So maybe put a picture that somehow relates to the order (ex: for the 8th general order, have a picture of a guy pulling an alarm or something). You have plenty of time, just read them out loud 10 times a day and you'll learn them.
@DimeLivesInUs Yeah I usually draw and write in order to help me studylike I did with marches and dresses. I'll give it a shot. Right now the only one I know is make sure someone is there to take your place when you get down from duty, and I don't even know which order that one is! Well thanks for the advice, I'll use it!
boot camp is not high school. yeah, i was in 913(86), so what? triple threat, flag and something else in the same building, right next to the chow hall. those buildings have been torn down, i looked it up on sat. maps. it was a great feeling to graduate from boot camp. i was on top of the world, because it built my character.
@theratfarmer I leave in about 16 days and was wondering how hard it is to get into a 900 division? I've played percussion and marching band for years and would LOVE a chance to get to play again?
Don't worry about it, jaepil. You're good! I didn't know Navy fleeters say something different until just recently. Looks like we both learned something! :)
i liked it but afetr a while the ghetto came out of some and rich stuck up can out. the bored mess with people . but overall i liked it in the end. when you get out you can go for a ride on a wave but (a) school you have to wear uniform. no cilivan clothes for 8 weeks
Blue2: You say that now. The first day you will hate yourself. Bootcamp isn't that bad. Just keep your mouth shut speak only when spoken to. Sleep ONLY when they tell you.
jbush04: the only mistake I see by these many boot camp videos is that there co-ed. Not a good thing. Do you want some mouthly female PO or CPO yelling shit at you. I'm glad when I went through Great Mistakes it was just guys.
Spooner gives good advice, just follow that and like Magill said, keep a copy of eveything, everything, everything. Stay positive and it will be the best years of your life.

A PFC or Lance Corporal would never do that, or else there would be hell to pay!!!!!!
@ironcitydevildog hahaha undisiplined yeah right the navy is so disiplined and dude all the branches are in this together so please show some respect, thanks
Spooner your right on the money there. Ijust retired fromt eh navy in June of 08 just days before you graduated. Cant believe 20 years has come and gone so fast. enjoy your time in. Its over sooner then you think. One word of advice. Make copies of every piece of paperwork you do, even if tis so much as memo make a copy and save it, leave chits, school request , training you name make a full copy of it all. It saved my ass many times. as we used to say CYOA Cover Your Own Ass
I went to Great Lakes (mistakes) in '91. Then I went to The Gulf and got an eye infection. I got so sick that I went into a coma. I don't remember why the corpsman on the USS Halsey CG-23 didn't do their job. See, in the Navy they call you a pussy if you have to go to sick call. But if i saw them today I'd beat the shit out of them. That fuckin Navy shit fucked up my eyes and my life. Fuck the Navy.
@DynamicManic We are not heros we are men and woman just doing a job. Thank you though. BTW a hero is the guy who came home with a flag on his coffin. May they rest in peace.
well in bootcamp its jus a twelve foot deep swimming pool and what you do is get on the end of a 12 foot diving board and they tell you to jump and its kinda a scary feeling and if you don't jump in there time they will push you I didn't even kno how to swim never been in a big body of water I got to the edge they pushed me and I freaked haha I'm sure he will be ok tho I didn't graduate and they held me I was there 5 months instead of 2 I wish him better luck than I had God bless :)

Hey man take it easy, you don't even know how you would be in a firefight and plus someone has to be in the navy, because with the navy and its fire support the army would be stuck in some sticky situations.
Getting used to the politics, customs, and behavior that you're expected to abide by. Other than that, you might stress over all the stuff they try to teach you, but that's all that boot camp is. You're lucky in the fact that you have 6 or 7 months to prepare. What rate/job did you pick? Start running if you don't already, study the rank structure, and learn those general orders. =] good luck shippy.
I chose to be an Aviation Stuctural Mechanic, and ya I really need to work on my running i can only do a mile in about 8-9 mins. lol. Whats the time that they want you to get anyways? Thx for replying
Your expected run time depends on your age. Want to say that 17-19 1.5 mile run is 12:15, 20-24 is 13:15, 25-29 is 13:45, 30-34 is 14:15. If you can do 50 pushups/situps within 2 minutes, you're good... but those are the minimums.
AM... I have a few friends who are AM's, but I have kind of fallen out of contact with them.
well i think i can handle that just fine, need to work on my pushups cuz i should be able to do more than that. Thx for the info. man, really appreciate it.
hey everyone..im thinking about going to navy...im tired of being nobody and not doing shit...imma sign up after new years...any advice please tell me on my page...

Hey im gonna head off probably late May-Mid June. I was wandering what you think is the hardest part of bootcamp?
squatinWorldwide 4 years ago
Getting used to the politics, customs, and behavior that you're expected to abide by. Other than that, you might stress over all the stuff they try to teach you, but that's all that boot camp is. You're lucky in the fact that you have 6 or 7 months to prepare. What rate/job did you pick? Start running if you don't already, study the rank structure, and learn those general orders. =] good luck shippy.

I chose to be an Aviation Stuctural Mechanic, and ya I really need to work on my running i can only do a mile in about 8-9 mins. lol. Whats the time that they want you to get anyways? Thx for replying
squatinWorldwide 4 years ago
Your expected run time depends on your age. Want to say that 17-19 1.5 mile run is 12:15, 20-24 is 13:15, 25-29 is 13:45, 30-34 is 14:15. If you can do 50 pushups/situps within 2 minutes, you're good... but those are the minimums.
AM... I have a few friends who are AM's, but I have kind of fallen out of contact with them.

well i think i can handle that just fine, need to work on my pushups cuz i should be able to do more than that. Thx for the info. man, really appreciate it.
