Hello from Antrim , Ireland, just love this women, what a song, what a singer, great to know that us Irish helped to give u the great country Music....... God bless America, from a true Irish man!!
I sung this song at the funeral from my granddad!
It was one of the most difficult things I've ever done!
But he loved that song... we always we're connected through our love for Reba!
It went really well but after I finished I broke down and never wanted to hear this song again! Now he's dead almost 2 years and I realized this song helped me to ger over it!! Thanks to Reba for that great piece!
I was only thirteen when my daddy past away. I cried my self to sleep every night to this song. After that there have been so many other times in my life when Reba's music has helped me through good and bad. I feel like Reba is one of my best friends.
I think the thing I love about this particular performance is that she doesn't rush the song at all. It is almost like she is going to slow but it just makes it more enjoyable.
This is awesome. Reba is my hero. I absolutely adore her. I have followed her career since 1985. She is the BEST! She sounds in live concert just like her records. She has got the pipes. She is a beautiful and wonderful person. I have seen her in concert so many times and never get tired of her. Thanks for posting this.
I love this song and have just told a friend of mine who is having abit of a hard time with her dad to listen to it. What beautiful lyrics it has, i never realy knew my dad so i would have to say the greatest man i never knew is my grandad.RIP grandad and always in my thoughts.
the COTI COLLINS fans should see this..that drag queen has never brought such grace and sincerity to the stage..did I miss beauty! give it up Coti..u`ll never be a real REBA!
i was born in 1987 Reba is my Hero, i was fortunate to be able to hear reba sing The greatest man i never knew in 2010 i cried like a baby, my dad has never been the type to say he loves any of us kids unless we say it first, and he's had bouts with cancer right now he is cancer free, but my dad is also my hero and i couldn't live without him
My dad was in the Navy. I was born in 1978 and he never told me he loved me until I lost my own kids. My dad was my hero growing up. I miss what we had. It seems so sad to wish for my dad to be my best friend again. I felt loved by him then but not now. I don't know.
My dad was in the Navy. I was born in 1978 and he never told me he loved me until I lost my own kids. My dad was my hero growing up. I miss what we had. It seems so sad to wish for my dad to be my best friend again. I felt loved by him then but not now. I don't know.
I think a lot of us that were born before the 60s may have had a Dad like this, mine was so very Stoic, did not show emotion much.. because boys in those days boys didn't cry.. when he was dieing he was in and out of conscientiousness when I said Daddy I love you, and he answered in kind of a muffled slurred speech I Love You too, I bout fell of my chair and started to cry.. I will never forget that, it meant so much to me, and does till this day!! That is why this song means so much to me!
WOW, reading your post just now and I had to do a double take, DID I WRITE THIS? On my daddy's last night on earth, we had gone to the VA hosp with my mom, (she'd been there the nights before also, but Saturday was the only day I could make it) and as we were leaving I bent and kissed his cheek, said I love you, he said Yeah Yeah (he could never say it back) and the next morning he was gone. Mom said he waited for me. The night he passed there was one bright star in the sky!
i love Reba's songs she is the only country singer that can really make me think about the song for days Reba is and always will be my favorite singer
please Tell me where I can buy this record I heard it on the radio 2weeks ago and I am craxy for it. the greatest man I never Knew...wow i cried for england it reminds me of my late dad thanks 1mulinda48
when she thinks his name was Johon came out I was in middle school and learning about aaids.
I thought that it was so cool that Reba was able to learn about aids with out me knowing the meaning of the song. once again I had to listen to the song ten times before I cought the meaning
I would asked my Grandmother what it ment and all she would say is listen to it again. I do not care if you have to listen to it ten times or more you will get it
These two songs are absolutely, well... need I say it? I really miss the Reba that would tell stories throughout her shows. It seems as though in recent years she tends to rush through the live performances with a "smile on her face and a tear in her eye.." Seriously, she no longer cares to express emotion. I love when she would put her all into a song, such as here.
I was only 9 when my father died. I had terrible childhood because of it. There was not a person i loved the most than my dad. He was and still is a HERO for me. I am 23 year old and still can not forget the day he died in car accident. I am still not OK. because it had a fluency on my life. But i look in the future for the better. i search the good in people like my father was. R.I.P By Jurij
When my father died we were not in good terms and for most of my teen years we did not had a relationship even though we lived in the same house. Now that almost 20 years have passed I wish he was here to tell him how much I miss him and how sorry I am for giving him so many headaches. I miss you dad.
makes me cry to know how much you can really miss a person. father passed away 12 years this summer. He was my best friend the person that taught me to be the man I am today. He also taught me to be the father I am today to my son. DAD I LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU. Wish I didn't miss that last day with you.
This really reminds me of my late grandfather. I never really knew him but i still oved him alot. It was incredibly hard for me. this song really reminds me of out relationship. I loved him and he knew it.
i want to say thanks i really appreciate these two songs my dad and i the only two in my family that are talking and i dedicated " the greatest man i never knew " to him becuase he is the greatest man i never knew and then "she thinks his name was john" i had a friend named john and id sing this song to him becuase he was handicapped so reba i love you
I always liked these songs.Great artist.
