Hagar is a great artist. people like what he does. he decides he will be great and he is. he takes the negative peoples shit comments and tosses them as he knows negativity leads to death which is where most people live. when he was with Van halen, his voice and his energy are what make the band and the success. Michael Anthony has the same energy as Sammy. Satriani's guitar speaks for itself. If they fail, it will be on their terms and not the critics and the negative fucks

The VH "effort" with Cherone was a train wreck and VH hasn't really done much new since then (exception was Sammy's brief return to chart a pair of new songs for a greatest hits album). I don't really agree with you about why they're not good, i.e. satriani is amazing. I have been a Satch fan for years and hated even the idea of the new Chickenfoot album, But.... at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley they freakin" rocked! Joe played extended solos all night and each song was basically a kickass jam., encored w/ Who"s 'My Generation" and Sammy even pulled out "Bad Motor Scooter" from his Pat Travers days to end the show. Queenryche! opened and I'm sold. Chickenfoot Live is a great band and Joe fans still got his usual greatness, albeit a little less, well, Joe)

They rocked Lake Tahoe last weekend!!! Couldn't get tickets (sold out Labor Day weekend), but heard it from Harvey's parking lot........and from the Lakeside Inn Casino a mile down the street !!! WOW !!!! Sounded like a great show!!! Saw Sammy (I think) driving around in a RAT hotrod on Monday too!!! COOL!!!! What a weekend!!! Happy 40th Birthday to me!!!
Went to the show last week in Virginia. Really, really fine rock and roll show and the guys are tight. I "liked" the album but to really appreciate the music you need to hear it live. I totally love the album now.

I mean, srsly, it's like the two play different instruments. I'm a bass player, i know what i'm talking about. I'm just a fat old dude and I blow MA out of the water. AFA Chad, yup, he's pretty fucking great. I'm not a Satch fan, really, but he's obviously awesome. Same with Sammy.

@dougcassidy Okay, at least you could give reasons for not liking him. I don't play, just listen to a lot. Personally I like him. So it's my fault. No-one is in the same galaxy as Entwistle, but I meant it to say that there aren't other people I know of that are good now. @texlavera Just tell me other musicians you like better and I will look into them. I know a lot about older bands, but that is because everytime I hear new bands they do interest me at all (1 or 2 exceptions).

Both are decent at best but I don't have enough space here to name all the people who are better. And sorry that's not just a matter of preference, we're talking skill level, creativity, understanding of songwriting and theory etc. No offense but that was just a silly statement and a slap in the face of two legends

Ugh! Feel free to pile on, but I can't get over my hatred of this band. Satriani is a boring guitarist who's approximation of hard rock guitar is a joke. I almost vomited when I saw him play his version of a solo on Led Zeppelin's "Rock & Roll". Sammy Hagar is the ultimate douche. He said that they are as good as Zeppelin. Ha ha. Them Crooked Vultures. Look them up.

I don't really agree with you about why they're not good, i.e. satriani is amazing. But I do agree that this band is not that great; i am a huge fan of all of these musicians but despite wahtever sammy hagar says, it simply sounds like they lack chemistry. And as hagar said, without chemistry, no band.

If you knew anything about music you wouldn't be talking about toning down. Talk to any great guitarist and they'll be happy that Satch is taking a break from shredding and playing endless solos. This group shows the way that Satriani plays in a band situation rather than a practically solo act that he is usually known for. If he played the way that he normally played, he would draw attention away from the other members. He didn't tone down, he's in a band situation now. Fuckin idiot hater.

I have been a Satch fan for years and hated even the idea of the new Chickenfoot album, But.... at the Greek Theatre in Berkeley they freakin" rocked! Joe played extended solos all night and each song was basically a kickass jam., encored w/ Who"s 'My Generation" and Sammy even pulled out "Bad Motor Scooter" from his Pat Travers days to end the show. Queenryche! opened and I'm sold. Chickenfoot Live is a great band and Joe fans still got his usual greatness, albeit a little less, well, Joe)

They rocked Lake Tahoe last weekend!!! Couldn't get tickets (sold out Labor Day weekend), but heard it from Harvey's parking lot........and from the Lakeside Inn Casino a mile down the street !!! WOW !!!! Sounded like a great show!!! Saw Sammy (I think) driving around in a RAT hotrod on Monday too!!! COOL!!!! What a weekend!!! Happy 40th Birthday to me!!!

Went to the show last week in Virginia. Really, really fine rock and roll show and the guys are tight. I "liked" the album but to really appreciate the music you need to hear it live. I totally love the album now.

thats kinda true, but he still had to play his ass out to keep it up with flea and frusciante, plus he has great solo rhytmic sections, i think he got recognition as a true member of the RHCP, without him they wouldnt be as funky. otherwise nobody would have noticed him as a member of this new supergroup, like it happened with the rhytm guitarist of velvet revolver, who's actually pretty talented in alt-rock and hardcore punk ground, yet everybody talked about the ex-guns and weilland
