@GreenArcherXVII whats that have to do with anything? i mean if you can sell 2 football tickets and have enough money to by a GTI with it thats cheap shit.
@ChevyZ71djd The point is, the GTI is an affordable car that can SPANK your heavy Chevy in its stock form AND last more than 100,000 miles without having to junk the motor. Quality over quantity is something the American makers are JUST NOW beginning to kinda understand. We needed trucks back when everyone worked in factories and on farms... now they're just a road hazard. I'll take a 1986 VW GTI over ANYTHING America put out that year.
@GreenArcherXVII btw, base price for this model year GTI was about $9200 (Corvette was around $30k). 26MPG Fuel Injected, 4 wheel disc brakes, 25.5 : 1 Power to weight ratio (compared to the 13.9 : 1 Power to weight ratio of the 1986 Corvette coupe). Don't insult VW before you know the facts. Also keep in mind that VW sales more cars than GM world wide and are only getting better while you're still trying to keep up with the BMW M3's out there in the performance arena. Like a rock?? exactly!!
@GreenArcherXVII acually there bud it still has the original motor and it still runs like it has 0 miles. hahahha your a joke if you think that will beat my truck i could run right over that little terd. and lets both do a 50 MPH into a wall and see who servives. pretty sure you would be dead instintly. but hey if you want to drive a suicidal car thats your choice. Amarican or nothin. unless its a STI
@ChevyZ71djd So this is why you all have overly big vehicles? so you can survive a wall hit?? Last I checked the point is to NOT hit obstacles? but then and again, thanks to people like you, auto insurance prices can stay high. And if you want to talk speed then YT some VW vs ___ stuff, you'll see these 'suicidal cars' wipe their asses with americas' best. VW's are easy/less$ to make faster than ANY american car. Go ahead and bring out a 1/4mi muscle car, then try to drive it in the real world.
@GreenArcherXVII Also, in 1986... why would you pay $30k for a 230 HP heavy garbage vette possibly with drum brakes? The Camaro was a pig too.... America should stick to making pickup trucks and Astro van variants... leave the speed to real engineers who actually care about suspension and real world driving conditions. I thought the new Challenger was gonna be good but dam.. just go get a Dodge Dakota R/T and save $30k. New Mustangs $ crap $ (Chinese fauly trannys etc) and the GM Volt burns up.
@GreenArcherXVII acually bud i have never been in a wreak and dont plan to but if it were to happen i would live you woulld die. and by the way a STI would smoke a GTI. yeah right my ass the GTI is the fastest car in the US. if i saw a stock gti beat a stock lambo then i would believe you. id rather see the football game with the 2 tickets
@GreenArcherXVII not even going to read that. paper dont mean shit its how you drive it. chevy did a truck thing and on paper the ford has more HP but in the end in real life the chevy beats it in a 0-60 and as for cars its the same. even search sti vs lambo
@simza03 cool that where most of the European and american golf mark 2 where made but it depends on the market of where the car was made like vw caddy was made in Sarajevo in Bosnia for the model 1 and the mark 1-2 was also made in Bosnia for the their market i believe

@ChevyZ71djd Since you're so concerned about "faster" I have some numbers for you:
2011 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 0-60 mph 3.3 ($110 base)
2011 Subaru Impreza WRX STI Limited Edition Sedan 0-60 mph 5.2 ($35k base)
2011 Volkswagen Beetle 2.0T Turbo (Manual) 0-60 mph 5.7 ($25k base)
A chick in a "stock" Beetle with better MPG's can almost get your STI and no one (normally) can afford a Vette.
