It's sounds generated by the YM2149F PSG chip found inside the Atari ST platform. It makes cool blip and blop sounds, and it can use the CPU timer to PWM the bass/lead waveforms for an extra dynamic and variable sound.
The platform is a bit like Amiga -- Motorola 68000 8MHz, 512kB..1MB RAM. No blitter though, that's in the STE platform.
Nice. Is this a MOD? Or generated by oscillators? In the latter case, can you describe the specifications of the platform?

YM2149F has three output channels mixed to mono, and PCM is only possible the CPU hogging way.
