"If I had to pick a center [for an all-time best team], I would take Olajuwon. That leaves out Shaq, Patrick Ewing. It leaves out Wilt Chamberlain. It leaves out a lot of people. And the reason I would take Olajuwon is very simple: he is so versatile because of what he can give you from that position. It's not just his scoring, not just his rebounding or not just his blocked shots. People don't realize he was in the top seven in steals. He always made great decisions on the court."
If the Rockets would have added one more piece to that '86 team to go along with Hakeem and Ralph Sampson they would have supplanted the Lakers as the best team in the West throughout the rest of the 1980's, the Celtics got old later in the 80's so they would have eventually knocked them off. The Twin Towers were too much to handle plan and simple.
This video should tell you how moronic the media is...from 1989-1994 they labeled Hakeem as selfish and self-absorbed, when they couldn't be further from the truth. Winning changes everything.
3:15...
Hakeem-."bobby I'm open gimme tha ball"
Bobby- "Well dream you got four guys hanging on you"
Hakeem- "That's okay....I DUNK ON ALL OF 'EM"

@PhilBurr100 Yeah, that "piece" was John Lucas, who was suspended halfway through the season for a positive cocaine test..

Had Jordan, Olajuwon, and Drexler been teammates (as speculated), finishing second to the Rockets would be like an NBA championship.
