Classic Deep Space 9...."...a pennance must be exacted." This has big repercussions for the last episode of the show. Time-travel episodes that are a continuing story arc are difficult to pull off and always interesting to true sci-fi fans; the relationship between Sisco, the Prophets, and linear and non-linear time from the 1st episode through the last are some great writing. I can't believe it has been 12 years since this show went off the air. Sure wish I had a Hi-Def TV when it aired !
@redgaridose The Episode before, Worf and Martalk went to Galrown to convince him to send Klingon rienforcments to help the Federation retake Deep Space Nine. He was on the Rotaren, Martalk's flagship.
wow!! This was my favorite part of he entire DS-9 series!! "You want to be gods gods, then BE gods!!" "STOP those ships!! Seeing this again brought tears to my eyes!!
@ reisejr My roots are Cuban. Where my family comes from "hacerse el Sueco" "Becoming Swedish" means pretending to be stupid or ignorant about something. Does that mean Swedes are deceptive or just plain stupid? I don't know, I'm curious to get your feedback. You are a Swede right?
Seriously? Are you aware of that there is a world outside of USA? Not saying that Hollywood doesnt come withe something worth seing from time to time, but if you truly believe what youre sating, youre delusional.
/end rant.
In conclusion, a little less riddiculus patriotism and a little more realizing that that you are one out if 6,8 billion, might be healthy for you.
Or maybe youre just a troll. Yeah, thats the only reasonable explenation for your belief.
Dude you're out of control with your crazy misspelled ridiculous rant. First off, who the fuck are you to call me a troll. You know I am American and proud of it. However I'm not one of those morons that goes throwing it in everyone's face as you would have yourself believe. I made a simple comment. You went on and on about my supposed ethnocentricism. My response simply was to say that if you and people like you hate us so much, then why do you watch our programming?? BTW I'm first generation
I dont hate USA, in fact, I have relatives there. Even if I did, that would be no reason not to watch a good movie. And now that you say it, I see that I did misspell an awful amount of words. Writing a comment in the middle of the night does that to you.
As for the "you're a troll" thing, I am always aware of the possibility.
And if you say that you're not ethnocentric (new word for me) I suppose I have to believe it, but you do give the appearance of being it.
People dont hate you. People hate you foreign policy and your refusal to stand up for climate change, and your spouting about freedom and liberry when you practically enslave millions to sub-standard healthcare leaving it open to the hereditary rich and famous. - People love you for as many if not more reasons too. - You need to chill out.
In case you didn't realize it, I'm not at the helm (no pun intended) of my country's policymaking machine. I don't need to chill out at all bro. I made a simple opinion of what I thought the various species to represent and this other dude totally jumps in my shit with some antiamerican rhetoric. I had a right to defend myself. The things people "hate" about the US are completely valid. I agree fully. Its just when some pseudo intellectual faggot starts poppin shit at me, I get agitated, fair?
@tigertom1011 I concur. The latest Star Trek movie is a total *FARCE*, all loud noises, action & utterly unconvincing acting! Even Search for Spock was better!
true, it is a plot device, but it wasnt some random act - this scene (specifically the part where the profets talk about "exacting penance") would have mayor concequences for sisko later on in the series. It was planned.
It was really only a setback for Dukat and the Cardassians because their fortunes decline after this point, but the Dominion was still able to hold its own even after the Romulans joined the battle. Consider the reaction of everyone in ops. The Founder is mildly annoyed since she can't go home, Weyoun shrugs his shoulders since losing a few million soldiers is no biggie, but for Dukat this is a catastrophe.
Love the biblical overtones; Sisko basically being Moses, parting the Red Sea. The Founders/Changelings have been called 'gods' by their servants all throughout the series. In this episode, we get to see them rocked back on their pompous heels a bit by beings which are much more godly than they are, and it's great.
"...learning that their glorious reinforcements are not only arriving, but are unaccounted for."
...learning that their glorious reinforcements are not only NOT arriving, but are unaccounted for.
I like the scenes that leave a little bit for the imagination to fill in the blanks. They had to be confused. Now that I read these comments, RifleMan 80 recognized that same observation, as well. I know that Coheed and Cambria would say "Good eye, sniper." Wink.
I may even go as far as to say 05:14 may even trump 05:07? I haven't seen many of the DS9 episodes, but there are some good ones that I've seen. It certainly is an interesting concept and story. I'd say that 05:16 is reminiscent of the time that the Romulan, Tomalak, put some skid marks in his drawers, when Picard pimp slapped his two warships with the three decloaking Klingon warships. This DS9 episode's pimp slap is of a greater magnitude, but they are similar. Good series.
Yeah. I know what you mean, but there is something about the realization of the aggressor learning that their glorious reinforcements are not only arriving, but are unaccounted for. They have to wonder so many things. Is the wormhole not as stable as they have always believed? Did the Defiant bring some kind of new weapon, of whatever origin, on line and somehow destroy the fleet? Is there really something to the stories and folklore of the Bajoran profits and Gods? They really didn't know.
i like the fact that the federation, romulan, and klingons, and everyone else in the alpha + beta quadrant would have been taken over by the dominion if it wasnt for the bajoran prophets.
The look on Dukat's face when the reinforcements never came through! Lol. This was a turning point in the Dominion War. The Alpha Quadrant Dominion forces are on their own.
he he, weyoun doesent care about anything, he only cares about the founder
