Talk-show host Glenn Beck talks about his conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church, Mormon Church, or "Mormonism") and how the Mormon Church and Mormon beliefs have impacted his family, his career, and his life overall.
Quote of the day: From Michael R. Otterson, managing director of LDS Church's public affairs, speaking at BYU's Mormon Media Studies symposium on how some people think high-profile Mormons like Glenn Beck, Mitt Romney or Harry Reid speak for the faith: "They don't. I hate to tell you this if you're a Glenn Beck fan: Try to get over it."
@omiolo That's absolutely his opinion, nothing more. In fact, he was probably over the line on that comment. "By their fruits ye shall know them." Glenn isn't a perfect man, nor you nor me. Judge righteously and for yourself. Until a GENERAL AUTHORITY comes out and says that they do not support Glenn and his "teachings", then anything anybody says is merely an opinion.
I am very thankful for the teachings of the church and teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel. My life would have little or no meaning without him. It has also given me a perspective to love all others unconditionally, even those who do not believe in following Jesus Christ or do not believe in God at all. However, personally I believe that doesn't mean He doesn't believe in them and all of his children. May we all learn to be happy and grateful for what we do have versus what we don't. :-)
@oakfire12 - this guy has done more for the preservation of America than any of us could possibly know. I'm not elevating him up to saint hood but acknowledge the journey he made to find the church and appreciate the same atonement that he also has access to as you also do, my friend. When you go to church and partake of the sacrament, so can he. He gets to strive towards eternal blessings just the same as you. He is our brother, a defender of the faith doing so with a reputation on the life.
Yet, the hope in their countenances reflects a life that has been marked and changed by a gospel that brings them families that are more sound and principles that make life stable and hopeful.
I am suggesting the pope and the priests of the Catholic church are not living the gospel of Jesus Christ, and that the Catholic church is NOT the same organization that Christ set up on the earth. Paul warned in his epistles, that the apostate church could be recognized by refusing some to marry. Could this mean priests? I believe it does.
2 Thesalonians 2:3 For that day [second coming] shall not come except there come a falling away [apostacy] from the truth first.
Though the number of students in the Church Educational System continually grows, President Henry B. Eyring of the First Presidency told CES instructors that what is to be taught remains the same.
I was brought up as an athiest. And I'm suspicious of any form of organized religion. But the clip really moved me. It's good to see so much positive energy in a guy. I still havn't got a clue what the mormon church is all about, but it can't be all bad.
Well it's true, they bash and talk trash and make false truths and lies about us. The facts still remain facts. Jesus Christ started a church with a Foundation of Apostles with authority to recieve the revelation to lead His sheep. But that foundation was killed off and the Apostacy begun.
Joseph Smith restrored the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Lord Commanded it to be so. The restoration is biblical.
"We believe that no government can exist in peace, except such laws are framed and held inviolate as will secure to each individual that free exercise of conscience .... [C]ivil magistrate[s] should restrain crime, but never control conscience; should punish guilt, but never suppress the freedom of the soul...."
Annagreth Bailey of Ladue said she'd heard from Mormon church headquarters in Salt Lake City that her 20-year-old son Martin, along with all the church's missionaries working in the Valparaíso area, were accounted for and safe.
"I am totally relieved," Annagreth Bailey said. She'd been unable to reach Martin, who has been 90 miles from the quake's epicenter, in Viña del Mar, for eight months.
It's noteworthy that only about 40 percent of the 14 percent of Americans who declared "no religious preference" at the end of the 1990s considered themselves atheists; roughly 60 percent did not. If the gospel can be presented to them as a message of relevance, satisfying depth, purpose, community, love, and service, many will respond.
lol do you realize how many really smart people are Mormon? People that I guarantee are smarter than you? hahahahah I'm seriously laughing right now...
I am truly happy for Glen Beck, I can relate to everything he witnessed. I pray more people have the courage to embrace the gospel and feel its comfort and peace. It is a life changing experience that brings much love and joy into our life. It makes sense in a senseless world.
It's not an easy thing. When you have made choices you are not proud of it is very tough. Dealing with them yourself is one thing, allowing others into your life from a religious perspective feels overwhelming.

You are wrong, there is always, no matter what, going to have to be a peice of you, it is impossible to erase something completely, even our father in Heaven has to abide by the rule: matter can not be created nor destroyed, just re arranged
What you said is right. However, how is this relevant to God? energy does exist, and we certainly believe in the presence of some sort of cosmic energy that is responsible for the functioning of the universe. But again, maybe that is all it is. Energy.

Joseph Smith believed that the Book of Mormon took place in Central America at least since 1842.
"We have found another important fact relating to the truth of the Book of Mormon. Central America, or Guatemala, is situated north of the Isthmus of Darien and once embraced several hundred miles of territory from north to south.—The city of Zarahemla, burnt at the crucifixion of the Savior, and rebuilt afterwards, stood upon this land"
Hope fully One day Glenn Beck will come to know the real Gospel of the Bible & the Fantacy book of humans ! God is good & Glenn Jesus Loves You regardless... ! I will pray for You Glenn !
Glenn knows the God of Abraham and the God of Isaac, and Glenn hopes his message will reach out to other good Christians the truth. Pray to God for All people!
why is it that you say we who believe in religion are false and delusional when you are viewing religious videos and reading others comments and commenting, it is because you still care and are curious like every man who has walked on this earth
The E-Z-SAVE method of salvation is simply a man-made marketing tool. Thanks again to the Catholic church for setting the just-believe-and-you'll-be-sav ed standard...now most Christian denominations employ that same "only belief is required" idea that appeals to the lazy masses. Same principle as the miracle diet pill. Did Christ simply believe, or did He tirelessly work and serve his fellow man? Full and complete salvation will take some effort..."saved by grace" is semantic snake oil.
@jinu03 pray for what? so you know glen personally i take it? hahayour jesus is a myster and unknown,we know who god is who is not a mystery and a confusing god like yours is.
@solarflare311 sorry, are you talking about mormons?? cause we sure know who God is, didnt you just hear glen say he has a personal relashionship with God? We read of him, talk of him and to him, and we know he listens and responds.
@liah55 i see where you are going with this now,i was saying that mainstream christians believe thats who god is,sorry should have clarified a little more
hey Dwick299. Im sorry you are kicking at nothing. The fact that glenn is where he is and you are where you are is all the evidence we need to know who is a better "critical thinker" its interesting that you are fighting for nothing. you see a Mormon fights for what he or she has faith in. Because you are fighting for no cause, what you are saying has no substance. all you have is an Anti faith you have no faith of your own. you just say what you want because it pleases you.
The Gallup Poll released its list of the most admired men and women of 2009 and LDS member Glenn Beck is a bit more admired than Pope Benedict XVI, Rev. Billy Graham, but less than Barack Obama, George W. Bush and Nelson Mandela.
It's funny how people criticize Glenn Beck for joining the Mormon church after Jesus Christ was able to heal him! People probably think he'd be better off as an alcoholic rather than be Mormon. Isn't that backwards?
Misery loves company so its no SMALL wonder that these folks now condemn him to hell when he was living life in HELL as a drunk. Sheesh!
I feel that Beck is the only one right about the US economy and the cess pool we are getting into. I don't listen to anything else he says unless it is about religion and changing ones life.
He's still... No, he's even more of a TOOL than I thought. What a complete phoney! Does he think I believe his tear-jerking crap!
How does this guy convince people that THE truth is his mission??? His version of kindness and concern for mankind is such a vacuous statement-what a fraud.
What's funny is that you don't really believe that.
Envy? Probably! He's the wealthiest Mormon in talk radio... and its hard for some to accept that the Lord will bless his own for making correct choices. Someone upstairs WAS watching over him and blessing him for his correct choices... or it was just an obscenely wild coincidence.
The creamy notions of postpartisan cooperation -- poured abundantly over Obama's presidential campaign a year ago -- have curdled into suspicion and feelings of helplessness. Trust is a toxic asset, sitting valueless on the national books. Good faith is trading at pennies on the dollar. "
Satan has never liked being identified as a "father of all lies" he would suggest that there was no devil; he doesn't like much attention and neither do those who subject themselves unto him.
The firebrand talk show host continued to attract attention on his national radio and TV shows, through his books and in the news media. The picture of Beck sticking his tongue out made it on the cover of Time magazine and parodied on several comedy shows
Glenn Beck: the pudgy, buzz-cut, weeping phenomenon of radio, TV and books. Our hot summer of political combat is turning toward an autumn of showdowns over some of the biggest public-policy initiatives in decades
I find Glenn Beck to be a man of charity and as one who has been redeemed from the fall. If folks continue to attack him, it makes it very evident to me that these folks must not know what it is like to be completely encircled about in the arms of the Love that our father in heaven has for us. This man is not a perfect man but he is a modern Paul for our day and will be instrumental in saving the constitution now as an Elder of Israel; those Elder's of promise!
one of the things that I like about Glenn Beck is that he has changed, not some sudden conversion, but line upon line, precept upon precept. I can relate to that.
All those who know him personally could also testify of his mighty change of heart.
Ifs funny how his opponents consider his change as a Mormon, now being free from his demons and those sins which did so easily beset him as somehow a "work of the devil"
I almost can't help but laugh to hear this but at the same time, I mourn to hear what folks can imagine up! He leaves a life which would doom him to Hell and joins the Mormon church and somehow earns a greater hell?
What I believe is absolutey grounds for ridicule. As it should be. But as I am not in the habit of beliveing in a load of nonsense the oportunities for ridicule are few.
Glenn Beck didn't go after the "lesser of two evils" but the greatest of all Good. He now has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the world now hates him more than ever for it.
The forces of Hell only move when something goes heaven ward so I find it funny how people attack his conversion and consider it as a thing of naught.
He was a talk radio host and TV personality long before he was converted and if that brings a change in you for the good.....then good for him, maybe you should try it......
It takes great courage to stand up for what is right, I applaud you Glenn Beck, harsh critics of the church forget the fundamentals of the church that we believe in Jesus Christ as the Son of God and through Him and by Him we are saved. The church changes peoples lives and makes them want to be better people........God bless you and your precious family Glenn.......
@novarone72 You don't even know who Jesus is, Jesus is God !!, God in the flesh, How do you think he was able to tell Nicodemus that he was in heaven whilst he was standing there talking to him ?
@novarone72 ,,A typical Mormon,, "never studies the scriptures",,, Tell me einstein,,, How was Jesus in heaven when he standing talking to Nicodemus at the time ?,, or don't you know the scriptures ?,, if he was standing talking to Nicodemus and in heaven at the same time, then your train of thought is way off track !!
For this reason alone both God the Father and his Son Jesus Christ must have come down together to visit the young boy prophet to help solidify what is taught in the scriptures but apparently not well understood by some.
And behold, even at this time, ye have been calling on his name, and begging for a remission of your sins. And has he suffered that ye have begged in vain? Nay; he has poured out his Spirit upon you, and has caused that your hearts should be filled with joy, and has caused that your mouths should be stopped that ye could not find utterance, so exceedingly great was your joy.
was mormon, and I still don't like this guy. a bit arrogant and loud, and sneaky like an inmate. I want to like him cause he supports what I support, but he is retarded. Lou Dobbs is the man! wise, not loud and jerky!
Poor excuse for a Mormon. The church should have toned him down. And now he has cost Mitt Romney any political ambitions of running in 2012 for president.
Actually Glenn has done a great job of defending the the principles of Liberty and freedom. Romney is night and day from what traditional LDS leaders like Ezra Taft Benson and Cleon Skousen have taught us. Ron Paul actually was the candidate who LDS people should supported based on his views of the constitution. Keep up the good work Glenn! We are proud of you!
Who is ANY Mormon to tell another member what to do? He is free to do as he pleases. Mitt Romney, without his religion is just as much a criminal as the rest of congress for the crimes they commit daily. Mixing politics with religion doesn't do this nation any good. It degrades what this country is about. If Glenn wants to speak freely, he shouldn't be bogged down by any religion. Nuff said
glenn seems like an okay guy when he isnt ranting about his idiotic beleifs, on his show though he is just hysterical, infact from the way he speaks he seems alot more open minded than he makes out on his show, i get the impression after watching this that he just spouts out with his crap on the show just to keep him in his job at FOX.
Sometime during the trip, the husband and wife had a disagreement. After all these years, I cannot recall what caused it. But I do remember that their argument escalated and became so heated that they were eventually yelling at one another. Understandably, this caused their young son to begin crying, which the husband said only added to his anger. Losing total control of his temper, he picked up a toy the child had dropped on the seat and flung it in the direction of his wife.
*Something else I was wondering is how did Joseph Smith, Jr who was born in Sharon, Vermont December 23, 1805 happen to already know the exact language that was engraved on golden plates by ancient prophets?
I like Glen Beck and his views for the most part, and not saying this particular instance isn't heartfelt or anything like that. But in general I don't like his on-air displays of overly emotional broadcasting. I do like the stuff he says usually, just not how he presents it though.
Mr. Beck and his on-air hyperbole in no way represents me or the majority of thoughtful, kind, members of the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints I have known.
I remember watching Glen Beck on the Larry King show. They were talking about how they both had married Mormon women and how Glen Beck had been converted while Larry King had not. That is different from the story told here where both he and his wife were looking for a religion. I wonder how the two stories could be reconciled. Wondering.
Beck's wife did not want to marry him unless they shared a religion. Therefore, it was not that she was Mormon and Beck needed to convert--it was rather that they had to find a faith that they could share together.
Boy, that's very respectful of you! Are you a Christian? If so, you're no Christian. Is that all you have time to do in your life is knock other's beliefs? The sad part is that the day will come when the truth is revealed and you, my friend, are going to be one unhappy camper. Not ONLY because you are disrespectful to others (e.g. you don't love your neighbor), but because you reject and close your ears to truth.
I don't care for Beck's politics. Too much hate for me. Religion is personal and should influence the way we think for good. Maybe Beck will get better though I doubt it.
Jesus has different purpose for everyone. Jesus is worthy to bring his kingdom. The hope of the ages is Jesus christ kingdom.

Central America, or Guatemala, is situated north of the Isthmus of Darien and once embraced several hundred miles of territory from north to south.—The city of Zarahemla, burnt at the crucifixion of the Savior, and rebuilt afterwards, stood upon this land"

The "real" gospel? Seriously? All religions are false and delusional. It's time to embrace reality.
Frosttty 2 years ago
why is it that you say we who believe in religion are false and delusional when you are viewing religious videos and reading others comments and commenting, it is because you still care and are curious like every man who has walked on this earth

freetube1to1 2 years ago
The E-Z-SAVE method of salvation is simply a man-made marketing tool. Thanks again to the Catholic church for setting the just-believe-and-you'll-be-sav ed standard...now most Christian denominations employ that same "only belief is required" idea that appeals to the lazy masses. Same principle as the miracle diet pill. Did Christ simply believe, or did He tirelessly work and serve his fellow man? Full and complete salvation will take some effort..."saved by grace" is semantic snake oil.

hey Dwick299.

Glenn Beck fourth on most admired list

Sheesh!

yeah, I really don't understand that. It is backwards.
Glenn Beck is a living example of how the beauty of the gospel can cure the savage beast.

Glenn Beck didn't go after the "lesser of two evils" but the greatest of all Good. He now has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and the world now hates him more than ever for it.

Nuff said

I remember watching Glen Beck on the Larry King show. They were talking about how they both had married Mormon women and how Glen Beck had been converted while Larry King had not. That is different from the story told here where both he and his wife were looking for a religion. I wonder how the two stories could be reconciled. Wondering.
thebigcougar 2 years ago 2
Beck's wife did not want to marry him unless they shared a religion. Therefore, it was not that she was Mormon and Beck needed to convert--it was rather that they had to find a faith that they could share together.

The sad part is that the day will come when the truth is revealed and you, my friend, are going to be one unhappy camper. Not ONLY because you are disrespectful to others (e.g. you don't love your neighbor), but because you reject and close your ears to truth.
