The XJ-S used was a pre-production prototype manual transmission car, but I'm guessing more than one was used for filming as some shots show an XJ-S with tan leather and others an XJ-S with black leather.......
please dont report my comment in 1932, a little girl named Suzie was walking down the hall of an old hotel. A crazy man killed her by stabbing her in the back of the head and throwing her body in an elevator. While he closed the elevator doors he said the words "BAKUDA BAKUDA". Now that you have read this message, her dead body will appear in your bedroom every night you go to bed. Unless you do this:
When Moore retired as Bond, loads of actors were rumoured to be the new Bond. Ogilvy stated he had 'no' chance as he was too much like Moore. The producers told him they wanted another Connery.
I loved the 70's. But sometimes they DID get it wrong. That Jag is disgusting. Who drew that out and thought "oh, that's a winner". The Cop's secretary was gorgeous, though.
I used to love this when I was a kid, not realising it was really the height of cheesiness! The music is more dramatic than the action! But somehow it is so compelling to watch! And the XJS hasn't lost its grace, even now.
Had to look this up. Sat in the remaining car today, now on a private plate. There were two, one got trashed in France (maybe herein this clip?!) Owner was doing a charity abseil in Kensington. Still only 67,000 miles but looking a bit tired. Ian Oglivy has signed the sun visor and the owner carries a set of ST 1 plates for when it's parked up. And yes I have the photos to prove it...
I can't quite recall the name of the actress playing the secretary at 4mins 11secs. Unless I'm confusing her with someone else - she used to be a regular panel member on Blankety Blank of all programmes!
I always liked the XJS - a huge saloon even by Jag standards.
I am a huge Roger Moore fan but I gotta say I loved Ian as the saint as well, He looked and sounded just like Roger, but he did alot more action wise, and he gave Templer a harder edge, Classic.
love the arguement some of you guys are having over the XJS... if you have never driven one how can you comment... i love my 1979 XJS V12 5343cc its fkn great to drive!! my friend has an e-type.. great to look at but like all things with a big arse... need i say more lol
the guy that played bolivian drug boss in scarface called "sosa" was in episodes but what were they can anyone tell me they were the best of all return of the saints
The XJS has always been a favourite of my old man's. The 94 models were the best, which used the 4.0 litre & 6.0 litre variants. The rear lights were changed but other than that the XJS remained pretty much the same. Not a big fan of the XK8 that followed, although the current XK8 is good.
That's what i specified in my post - i.e: that xk8 is the better model. The xjs was prone to some technical glitches, similar to the Jaguar XJ III and the XJ40
Sorry, I disagree. The XJ-S model was carefully developed over a number of years - and it's very similar under the skin to the Jaguar's very successful XJ saloon range. The V12 engine is fabulous. And the later 6 cylinder cars are nice to drive also. Aston Martin couldn't have thought they were that bad - the DB7 model is XJ-S based and that came out around 25 years after the first XJ cars (the saloons) had been introduced.
Lyn, the anniversary of a dead Mum is always a tough one, BUT......I am up against it with this James Bondathon, so if you limit your Mourning TO NO MORE ZAN TEN MINITS!!!
Call me an anorak, but there are some continuity issues here. Check out the position of the XJ/S at 1:25 and compare to 1:45. So who moved it then? I can't enjoy any more of this until I know....
Yeah if I were a copper, (and I'm not) I'd throw the book at the bastard, and add dangerous driving with menaces and a possible culpable homicide for good measure.
Noooo, I can't suspend disbelief it's a real woman. These thespian extras are ten a penny, she was sacrificed for the sake of continuity and equity guide lines.lol
More trivia: Prince Lorenzo's castle, I hear, is where Tom Cruise had his most recent wedding. So, once cool because ROTS filmed there, and now naff because of Tom.
ooh yes Simon shout at him I am sure he is gonna stop for you lol "Roy....Roy". I used to love this series when I was a kid. They should have made Ian Ogilvy James Bond instead of Timothy Dalton.
There was more than one XJS used for shooting as observed by kokons3 withdifferent interior colours. According to Ian Ogilvy, a technician from Jaguar was always on the set trying to get the car to run properly, which is probably why he looked terrified when starting the car.

I've never noticed before but the first XJ-S has a Jaguar 'leaper' mascot attached to the 'top' of its bonnet.

the xjs was rubbish, it was a very half arsed attempt to follow up the e-type. The xk8 sorted out the many faults of the xjs

a change of management in tv's highest circles killed it off, not it's ratings. :)

what do mean at ATV or ITV in general.
stuttsy83 3 years ago
Actually it was ITC(Incorporated Television Company)and RAI(Radio Audiozione Italiane) of Italy.
frankd1965 3 years ago
Yeah it but in Britain it will have been an ATV production for ITV, Abroard it will have been a ITC/RAI production.

I always wondered why ITV didn't make any more of this. Maybe the viewing figures weren't so hot. But I loved it!
