can I 4-track mix with this beast?

in other words, assign the treb, mid and low of EQ3 on 4 audio tracks onto the knobs, so in effect it's a 4-channel mixer?

and could I assign effects onto the crossfaders, so that I can change the reverb etc on drum samples in the sample grid?

I want to end up mixing 4 tracks together whilst spamming junglist drums on top of it, but the video doesn't make it entirely clear if this is plausible...

@jagb13 yes, but no velocity plus pain in midi mapping. I use a cheap 49 keyboard midi controller to produce. APC 40 is more for live sets...you cant really drag over samples using the APC 40

@MrNABnovice i think maybe you should find out how to record your line in or whatnot in audacity. forgot how to do this, but it records all sounds coming out your pc.

it's not a recorded just a controller. so you don't need it to record, you just need a good interface. the quality of the interface, combined with the highest possible bit depth and sample rate (16bit @ 44100kHz is the standard for CD's, but to record many people go with 24bit and a higher sample rate for the best possible recordings.)

that being said i have used it for recording things and that's probably what it's best at. transport controls and faders etc - good stuff!

Let's be clear about our terminology: An "interface" is a device that converts audio from analog to digital signals, and vice versa. This is what you plug your mics, keyboards, etc into. This you NEED for recording. On the other hand, a "controller" is merely a USB device that controls things on the computer screen, much like a video game controller. This you DON'T NEED for recording. A "midi interface" is a device that converts standard midi connections into USB. Which you need?

@CosmicFool2012 I have no "interface" but a Yamaha MG166CX-USB for Recording ... I only need a midi interface, like I said, for controlling Traktor/Ableton and maybe controlling my MPC or SP via my Computer sometimes for more freedom in music ;)

This is cool. It works well with Live. In saying that, it's pricey and there are other controllers that will work just as well if you have the patience to program it.

these setups are great if muting and un-muting loops is what your into... You hit the wall when you want to start arranging more complex music on a more complex setup and find you can't perform it all live on ableton

this controller is meant for ableton.. it might work on fl but u might need to map it manually or something..

APC - ableton performance controller. I really do imagine you could use on FL studio, but i wouldn't waste $400 on a piece of equipment made for ableton. Plus, if you have ableton, why would you even want to use FL studio. Im bittersweet on the subject as I have FL studio but very much desire ableton 8. Have the demo but so want the full version. Once again. $400. Geez... Can't Wait!

Europeans have more money to spend (even if you don't personally). The market bears higher prices -- and even higher when you consider VAT's on the order of 15%. If you want to, do business with a company that exploits this situation.

It looks like a custom combo rack.

The 1st knob is probably controlling some variation of the 'Fade To Grey" rack. And that 2nd knob is just a controlling a beat repeat.

if you use the multicompressor in live you get some fantastic mastering rack,

go to audio effects, audio effect rack, performance and dj and choose dj master channel. it will have hi mid lo in the rack and also output, reverb, filter sweep and something else, cant remember. also use the beat repeat effect. its awesome.
