  • Wow nice video! It's almost as good as apple,,,

  • When you reach the top of anything, there will always be people who hate. Hate out of jealousy, hate out of envy and hate out of ignorance. Steve was a rare breed, he combined art and technology. Our generation has lost one of its greats. Never shall our world be the same thanks to Steve and his originality. Peace, Love, Empathy Steve Jobs...

  • KKarkaz go fuck urself, show some fucking respect, btw what did u type your comment on, oh yeah, a COMPUTER, aN IPHONE, IPOD??? Yeah, he advanced society, he pushed the envelope, and u sound like a fucking retard criticizing something that you can't even spell, its jobs, not jones motherfucker, RIP steve jobs.

  • There was unaired version of this ad with Steve Jobs performing the reading. Now would be an appropriate time to air this version. The man was no saint, but he was a genius.

  • I wonder how many of us inspired by this commercial and by Steve Jobs are really taking Steve's philosophy to heart? Are we willing to give up materialism and to abandon conformity in order to improve the human condition? We owe it to Steve. We owe it to ourselves.

  • @n2mars The same guy that banned Apple from donating to charities in 1997 as an "economic measure"?

The guy was a CEO not a Saint.

  • Fuck steve jones... capitalist scum

  • @KKarkaz Just out of curiosity, what is your issue with Steve Jobs and capitalism? (FYI his name is Jobs not Jones)

  • @shewolfen1

It's okay, we still have Steve Wozniak... I'm not sure how you managed to forget him. ._.

  • Thank you Steve

  • Just a reminder.

    Thanks Steve...

  • The greatest innovator in his field is gone; he'll live on in legend.

  • Thomas Edison and Muhammed Ali together. That's a great combo!!!

  • A fitting day to watch again

  • Goodbye, and thanks for all the "Magic"

    R.I.P. Steve Jobs

  • Steve Jobs 1955-2011. Rest in Peace.

  • think " different " emphasis the word.

  • wtf with video?

  • Beautiful

  • Think differently.

  • Man This Is Just Inspirational !

iGet Chills Just Watching This .

  • this campaign inspires many of my colleagues to get into advertising industry. I am one of the victims too. This campaign pulls Apple out of financial problem then. I guess when you had nothing to lose then, you gave it a go. Some people almost shot this campaign down. This was the only TVC to have been nominated in Emmy Awards too.

  • @ellentan14

I hate the advertising industry. Its about lying and making people need things they never wanted.

  • @Weswada can you just appreciate the ad?

  • youtube bug?

  • I love this ad, I am not able to view it propperly because it seems to be as in fast-forward motion, and also no sound... any body else with this problem viewing the ad?

  • I love this ad, I am not able to view it propperly because it seems to be as in fast-forward motion, and also no sound... any body else with this problem viewing the ad?

  • Here's to the crazy ones...

    so true today.

    crApple.

  • @Weswada It does not matter what the advertisement is for, it is simply showing the possibilities that anyone could come up with. Showing how creativity and imagination are not out of our reach. Wheather you use PC or Apple, the advertisment still sends out a message.

  • LOVE IT!!!!

  • 13 years later and Apple is setting the status quo as well as not thinking different any more. Anti-competitiveness is not thinking different or thinking outside the box and neither is vilifying people or groups that might help get word out about new products *coughGizmodocough*. I miss when Apple was an upstart company.

  • This ad is funny now considering all of Apple's dickish rules, and anti-competitive tactics

  • They had Martin Luther King, Mohammed Ali, but they also need to put El Hajj Maalik Shabazz (Malcolm X) and maybe Nelson Mandela in there

  • good commerical but they cant compare themselves to those guys when all they do is sell whitewashed computers

  • and Walt Disney!!!!!!!!!

  • they should have shown Mozart. Or Beethoven. Or Leo Da Vinci. :)

    William Shakespeare!

  • they missed michael jackson

it was not "in" to say good things about him that time

now everybody say what a genius he was

what an innovator and so on...

    too late or him

  • @katsd111 yeah MJ too, he thought he can change the world and everybody said he was crazy, an oddball. but in reality, even after his death one can learn from his life. i learned a lot from him, i know see life differently and beautifully. but sadly these realization came too late.

  • KEEP GO FOR-Think Different- PIONEERING AND CHANLLENGES-TRANSFERENCE TO SOCIETY AND THE NEW WORLD.. Thanks

  • i always look at these people and wish i had such drive and passion as them..

  • @TheCivilEngineer22 but ur the civil engineer22 u r someone :)

  • @kylecorreia yes and i am not only 21.. got my whole life ahead of me to leave a mark!

  • @TheCivilEngineer22 yes true good luck...

  • MARIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Apple- you will never be good as these people.

  • mohamed alli pushed the human race forward

  • Hell fucking yes man

  • @kokomanation He really did. He fearlessly used his position as a famous athlete to attack racist ideals that were still part of everyday American life. Most famously in his defiance of the Vietnam draft. Despite being ensured he would have a privileged tour in Vietnam, he refused to go becoming a fugitive and losing his boxing license. The often quoted "No viet-cong ever called me nigger", encapsulated a contradiction that between how blacks were treated and what was expected of them.

  • humwhy there is no chat on you tube.. Btw anyone up for some cam chat^^

  • Is that Richard Dreyfuss narrating?

  • yes

  • @Anniemaree89 I dunno, is he?

  • (in order) Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon (with Yoko Ono), R. Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (with Kermit the Frog), Frank Lloyd Wright and Pablo Picasso. The commercial ends with an image of a young girl, Shaan Sahota, opening her closed eyes, as if to see the possibilities before her.

  • Thanks a lot !

  • who is the guy at 0.20 after lennon ? looks like some maths professor of sorts

Is it the same man @ 0.22 ?

  • Comment removed

  • i love this quote i can relate to it

  • Doesn't get much better than this

  • 0:25 isnt that john delorean?

  • ye it is..... a pity it failed the DeLorean

  • Thats Thomas Edison.....

  • Good advertisement but buying Apple products doesn't make you to think different just makes you dIffErENt

  • Good stuff

  • i love this

  • APPLE BITCHES!!!!

  • LOL..

@nick: I was all moved and shit and then this is the first comment I see..

  • U2 Me2 We All Can Get the Name of Love!

In The Name of Love Please for Me and U2 We Can Stop the War and We Can Stop the Hate!

    Peace and Love mate.

  • I love how they say "the troublemakers" right as they show a clip of martin luther king jr.

    lmfao thats so jacked up

  • i just can cry! it's the most beautiful thing i've ever heard in my life..and it's from apple. i will never regret the day i decided to buy a macbook. My life now is much more beautiful than it was before. thanks apple. thanks for made me think different.

  • they should teach you how to grammer different you ignoid

  • grammer?!? you're such a dickhead

  • This is the most powerful ad I ever saw in my Life.

You can have a Pc or a Mac, but only who think different understand this ad.

And even Microsoft have to thanks Apple, his biggest muse of inspiration..

Thanks Apple.. you are the best without a doubt

  • @segr3do Great comment,i TOTALLY agree with you!!!

  • @segr3do My view is that people who understand this ad is that Microsoft sucks balls and people who are diffrent use mac

    i am mac and pc

  • @segr3do And Apple can thank the Xerox Alto, from whom they "borrowed" the desktop metaphor and the rest of their GUI

  • @CESkootchy That's the big difference between Apple and Microsoft. Apple always gave a big thanks to XEROX and Steve Jobs always mention that, that they had the "gold" inside of an locker...because Xerox owners never give a shit about that great invention. In the other hand.. Microsoft just copy and instead of admite that, just say it was "an MS innovation..."

  • @segr3do I like the ad, too. But maybe you should hold your horses it's not like Apple found the cure for cancer, alright? We're only talking about a computer here. That's it. No need to become melodramatic.

If anything you can thank Apple for a marketing strategy well thought through.

  • @segr3do

ehm, one phrase seems odd... aren't Pc owners not ruled out when it comes to thinking different?

  • Comment removed

  • I Think Different

  • ¡BRAVO!

  • Who is the narrator?

  • @Wormtail81 Sounds like Richard Dreyfuss

  • Thank you very much.

  • Richard Dreyfuss

  • Is it just me or does the narrator sound like the Joker?

  • awesome

  • They are using images of these people as if they were mac users or at least they agreed to be in the ad, but the truth is that they have nothing in common with Apple products. Could have been a Microsoft ad with same footage and different voice-over.

  • apple are implying that they're different, like the people in the ad. microsoft can't be different, as they're the standard for computers. isn't it just a bit too obvious for you to make a statement like that?

  • I think it's more of a cultural statement. and I like it.

  • It's not obvious when you look at how they're addressing it. Apple is saying that they are different (and they are), but also encouraging the audience to THINK different. The implication is not that Apple is revolutionary, but that the audience CAN be... and they can show it by choosing Apple, of course. ;)

  • good point :)

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that was used in this video?

  • Think Different, Im a MAC

  • one of the best ads I have ever seen! only the coca cola christmas ad can top this..

  • Still the greatest commercial ever.

  • so its from 97 but its still epic today

  • they should have put a picture of Steve Jobs up there! Screw modesty!

  • who's narrating this? It sounds like someone I know, especially when he says "change things", and "world". Oh I KNOW! Richard Dreyfus, you know close encounters of the third kind, mr. hollund's opus, what about bob, that's him I just know it is!

  • I think you are right. That is who I think it is ... but then again, I think different

  • who can name everyone on this?

  • Albert Einstein, Bob Dylan, Martin Luther King, Jr., Richard Branson, John Lennon, R. Buckminster Fuller, Thomas Edison, Muhammad Ali, Ted Turner, Maria Callas, Mahatma Gandhi, Amelia Earhart, Alfred Hitchcock, Martha Graham, Jim Henson (with Kermit the Frog), Frank Lloyd Wright, and Picasso. The commercial ends with a young girl opening her closed eyes, as if to see the possibilities before her.

  • ha ha. thanks.

  • It says it in the description...

  • @Koolaiddewz they missed mozart and gauss

  • @Koolaiddewz

    all apple eaters, huh ?

  • @Koolaiddewz Yes because Apple forced her to open her eyes because they control everything on their closed propriety platform. I'm pretty sure Martin Luther King Junior never had a mac.... What an appalling commercial really think differently built your own distro of Linux :)

  • @IRONnTiTAN No thanks. Ubuntu is fine.

  • I work with mac (fantastic computer) but nobody of they possessed a mac.we can change the world with our witnesses and hearts. excused my terrible English, I 'm not English

  • great ad! (:

  • we have to get macs

  • best ever

  • All that hope, all that inspirational footage, yeah! Let's change the world with Apple computers! We can push change forward with these tools!

And then we tweet. Then we just put little meaningless comments, mislpellings and all, and we upload videos...and we tweet that we're uploading videos...and we post crap on Facebook and we make shirines to ourselves on Myspace... nice.

    We've come a long way!

  • Too right! How can we make a difference when we sit on computers at work (surfing the internet, spending money while we earn it) and then return home to sit in front of our computers? I love Macs, and I'll always have a soft spot deep down for the older machines, but where's my life going? We only have so long! This commercial is fantastic....though, it always bugged me to think that you could just replace these people with despots and criminals, and the words could still be applied.

  • perscriptivism, look it up

  • Is there supposed to be some connection here?

  • Jared@At-a-Glance Marketing

One of my favorite commercials. It's "just right."

  • its time you learn proper grammar. Different is clearly not used as an adverb, it is used as a fanciful category...thus the LY would be improper grammar.

  • please do a simple Wikipedia search on "think different" and you will see there it clearly states what a fanciful category is, if your not sure how to use Wikipedia feel free to check your encyclopedia or any 3rd grade grammar book, they would happily agree with me....but im sorry for providing sources, where as you prefer to just make claims and insult people

just because you appreciate a genius doesn't mean you are one.

  • (continued)

Further, your reasoning relies on circuitous referencing. The one germane citation in the Wikipedia entry links to where "Invention Convention" justifies its poor grammar by saying "Think of it as a refined version of "them there folks that put on dat Invention Convention thing-a-ma-jig". They then invoke Apple's gaff to justify their own dumbing-down of language. So rather than prove that the grammar is correct, we have Apple advert people struggling to justify the poor grammar.

  • This is the best ad campaign ever!

  • OMG 0:34 He looks like steve jobs

  • ¬¬' [ironic mode on] veryyy fun...

  • XD HAHAHAHAHAHA

  • Jim Henson. FTW. RIP.

  • If you'll look at the full resolution of TextEdit's icon, you will be amazed (after seeing this video) :)

  • This is beautiful. Right down to the very specific clips and the very few seconds of each clip that they included. My favorite is of Bob Dylan and the smoke trailing out of his mouth. Reminds me of his lyrics "Then take me disappearin' through the smoke rings of my mind,

Down the foggy ruins of time,/ far past the frozen leaves,/ The haunted, frightened trees, out to the windy beach/ Far from the twisted reach of crazy sorrow" from Mr. Tambourine Man.

  • To be grammatically correct, it should be "Think differently".

  • That would be following the rules...

  • It's an ad campaign. "Think Different" flows well so it will stick in peoples' heads for a long time.

  • You should have been replaced by Bette Middler.

  • Wow, So powerful! Who wouldn't want to think different? So daring So expressive So cool! But "think" is a verb, so it should be "Think differently"? Maybe I just don't get it Maybe I don't think differently enough Different enough? With enough difference? Maybe I think too samely Too much sameness in my think? I must need Apple I want to conform to different think Yes Apple will give me different think! Apple is double plus goodly!
  • Inspirational! You can judge them, but not ignore them...

  • 0:22 Is that Tolkien?

  • Great commercial. But who are the women at 0:32 and at 0:43? Firme.

  • Maria Callas and Martha Graham. It's written in the description.

  • You may say that they didn't change the world, but they changed how the PC works, they changed how we listen to music and they have changed the phones for ever, and you can see that very clearly, because windows mobile, symbian, blackberry and andrioid is trying to copy them. So they changed the world, and changing the world does not only mean what Ghandi did, but also what Apple have done.

  • taken from Apple Gazzete : "This ad is inspirational all on its own, even without the Apple logo at the end. In 1998, Mac Users were leaving left and right, and the company was going to have to change things to keep the users they had, and continue to survive. This ad was a mission statement from Apple, and one of the first ads I remember from the company that made me take a closer look at what they had to offer. It is a tribute to everyone that appears in it, ..."

  • Good words. Genius People. But they have nothing to do with Apple.

  • LOL ns one

  • lol yeah that's what i keep saying. applejuicevideos is going to delete this comment anyway, like he/she did the last but its the truth. Apple thinks of themselves too highly. They didn't change the world. I mean come on. Don't put Steve Jobs in the same category as Martin Luther King Jr. that's just stupid.

  • a great apple comercial... oh yeah and then they made the ipod and iphone and overpriced them like it was made out of solid gold. -.- stupid capitalist fucks

  • Apple has always been overpriced...

Altough they do deliver some quality products, Apple has nothing to do with thinking different... It was just a parody of IBM's slogan 'Think!'...

    It's still a wonderfull ad...

  • epic.

  • Yeah.. I'm not sure Jim Henson belongs with the Einsteins and Picasso's of this world.

  • I believe you are wrong, Jim Henson created some of the most beloved characters of all time. Kermit the Frog and the muppets were all Henson's ideas. As well as numerous characters from sesame street were his idea. I think that more than qualifies him as a genius.

  • genius

  • Comment removed

  • "Cos of people who think they are crazy enough to change the world, are the ones who do"- Quite true, just look at Adolf Hitler.

  • lol true

  • Who "thumbs downs" this? Are they actually trying to say that Hitler didn't change the world?

  • No, people just get angry if someone mentiones Aldof Hitler... I think Ghandi would have been a better choise ;)

  • Apple wins on the ad department thats for sure, really defines they're word of keeping it simple.

  • This commercial is so inspiring. Here's a toast to the crazy one's- Be who you are, because one day, your day will come and your brilliance will be realized :)

  • Apple doesn't make you unique, brilliant, or a thinker. But Apple has always supported the "Think Different" attitude, and the people portrayed in this ad are the people who share Apple's philosophy. Trivializing the legacies of MLK, Gandhi, and others? Hardly! This ad immortalizes their legacies even more.

Now get back to troubleshooting your copy of Vista.
