Well, I don't think that reminder apps will take place of other apps! I am sure someone out there that can make an improved version that will provide more functions to the user for a small price (Look at the stocks application for example.... You can alway use Bloomberg instead)... iMessage will be between iOS only, I don't think its going to affect AT&T sales that much! there are a lot of people out there without iOS devices!
