@Vengeance31 i totally agree.i thought i was the only person out there.i used to lie to myself that i liked them...but then along came planet of the apes, and i realized he ruins alot of movies.
This section highlights the main flaw in this documentary - the makers fall too far in love with their subject. It's still entertaining to watch and it's got some good info but it just isn't critical enough. See the guy at 3:00 "[licensing] is just testimonial to how wonderful the character is when he was created". There's not enough explanation of why comic book sales were falling or why the characters have been so ruthlessly prostituted.
09:25 - this music, I don't know what it's called or who composed it, but it's playing while Travis Charest is drawing Superman.. god, it's beautiful. I never heard music like that before. it really suits Superman and should definitely be in the new movie.
i will always love comics the essence of the story the art. im 21 ive been collecting since i was lil kid so this doc pays homage to comics.and i love it.
The fact that he had not read a comic book showed in the film. The costume was too restrictive and if the guy was meant to fight crime, he could hardly move in the suit. The newer films have rectified this problem and he can now move in the suit, as well as look up and down. I also disagree with his making Batman a killer. Batman does not kill, it's his own vow to himself.
Why? The henchmen were 60's hokey. The supporting cast was cheesy, not 3 dimensional. Nicholson was a decent joker for the day, but was a mere custodian of the character compared to Ledger. Overall, dark Knight was far superior to the rest in every possible way.
Hero's should be dark and light, because we need variation. take just one side and its get boring or depressing.
But its not always light and dark.
Its what a hero does that defines him, but its also his intentions.
a "perfect" hero is one that deals with dilemma's in wich he has to make a choice, not between a lesser evil but between a evil that is less acording to the hero, this can truly define his character
I think they are right about the darkness on some heroes. I think Batman has the blame. Some artists use too much darkness on some characters when they shouldn't go so far. As for heroes and villains i think today heroes are more human. You can see the darkness within them and it's common a hero battling a villain and later allying with him for another purpose. Where does the hero or the villain begins after all?? And it's also common to see nowadays a villain making a good deed.
i'm so glad they touched on the concept of the anti-hero in this. anti-heroes are easily the most believable coz they possess the more fucked up yet tragic human traits - eg The Punisher and the mad revenge trip he goes on for the death of his family and killing anyone who gets in his way.
could be (well, most likely IS) a social/cultural thing but it is a fact that we dont want goody goody heroes anymore, we want badasses. speaking of which, BRING ON WOLVERINE!!!!!
It's a shame that comics have gone more into specialized shops rather than local news agents or corner stores. In the process having gone up in price due to that change.
Add to that the improved production, materials and higher compensation for the talent as well as inflation over all (not to mention the damned speculators who thought every 1st issue was going to make them a million dollars a few years down the line)
he actualy said in MANY interview that he never read a comic book in is life,Kevin Smith confroted him about it and only now, years later,he admit he read them?
and what is it with most of his films appening in the holydays?
Spawn is my favourite superhero ever. I have never seen themovie...I've only just read the comic book, but it's so good. And i love how they used him as the example of how the superheros wern't shocked by the horror they created. Well >> Spawn first of all DID...(in the comics at least) and second...had he dont it would be understandable considering he's the spawn from HELL.
Lol well it's Tim Burton's opinion, but in this Tim's opinion lot's of superheroes have better villians. Best bunch of villians are from Marvel if not only from Spider-Man
That's your opinion. I would say that Batman and X-Men have the greatest Rogue Gallery. The two greatest supervillains of all time in my opinion is The Joker and Magneto. But that's just my opinion.

I found the first thing I don´t like about the documentary.
It´s not only kids who read comics and I like to see the more serious and dark stories portraid in them too, not only the "heroic" ones.
I love Spawn :)
