  • This venue was cool for playing Tool songs but I would get pissed if I was playing like Blink at this venue xD

  • @partyboy08162 Sorry, not subject. Awkward situation more likely. Sorry.

  • Adam Jones looks a lot like Edge from WWE

  • Adam is like Chewbacca here xD

  • what's the song in the background?

  • @UberChuckBAss I think it's "royal charm" by Able and Baker - stevekiddo

  • what song is playing in the background?

  • @szs88 it's 'Royal Charm' by Able & Baker

  • alex grey did artowork for my dad's book on hallucinogens. I love tool and i love psychadelics fuck yea for this animation!

  • Guitar hero: not real instruments but introduces new, often awesome, music. I am always torn on this.

  • Thats why they have that backround on the game i freakin love tool

  • Thumbs up if you listend to Tool before guitar hero.

  • @DarkandCryptic Fuck you hipster POS

  • @partyboy08162 Actually, I'm not. I was just looking back at that and I realized it was a stupid comment. I could be like most people and wear my Tool shirt while only listen to two songs by Tool. My whole entire family loves Tool and we bond over it all the time, so Tool is very special to me. I am sorry for being stupid and childish. We should just spiral out and keep going away from this subject.

  • Yes now that GH has gone T!TS up we might get TOOL on RockBand. Man i love this band.

  • Go adam! Go Tool!

  • Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Tool have officially become TOOLS.

  • @organizationkiller You look like the biggest "tool" here as far as i'm concerned.

  • TOOL is like a religion.

  • @twitch101994 shit it is!!

  • TOOL=GOD

  • I've been to that art gallery. Awesome.

  • WHAT IS THE SONG PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND?????

  • @samking247 if u find out let me know! :)

  • @samking247 special TOOL production for this trailer. This song is easy for playing the guitar.

  • for all of you new tool fans... go smoke a fat ass doobie..or try some psychadelics. then listen to preferably aenima and lateralus. clear your minds aof all imaginary illusion of life and just BE. tool will take you on a journey that no other band comes close to.

  • slide a mile six inches at a time on maynards dick

  • I just love Adam Jones, I have a lot in common with him and Tool is such an amazing band that fills my life a lot. THANKS ADAM FOR YOUR ART AND MUSIC !

  • I freak out every time I get expert vocals on Parabola.:)

  • Transferable skills anyone?

  • @idoitfinger sorry for the cynicism, Guitar Hero must develop transferable skills. When does Genital Mutilation Hero come out?

  • vicarious goes hard as fuck when you're at the end of the setlist and the screen darkens for the climax and the blue lights flash. crank up your tv and turn off the lights to get the full experience

  • @TheFitz02 Yeah, y'know the Tool venue actually does synchronize with other songs (sort of).

  • i would love to see reconizable characters on rockband ie. zakk wylde, ozzy osburne, ect.

  • is there anybody that knows where i can find a TOOL screensaver? other than the smokebox one?

  • Their songs are awsome .. but i cant play them.. LITERALLY!! I play it on career and i almost puked.. its so hypnotic and... its just so sad

  • TOOL are really music god

and alez grey is an awesome artist :D

  • too bad their wonderful songs are tied to that piece of shit GH world tour, maybe the worst excuse for a rhythm game ever.

make the tool tracks exportable, neversoft! those might be the only worthy songs you ever put in your games.

  • @eraserheadSH guitar shit fuck...tool is not a band to play whit this shit. TOO BaD

  • @angelizer999 "tool" is a word that can easily be applied to you.

  • TIP: Most Tool songs are easily played on a REAL guitar!

  • @keckelma

    who asked for your tip?

  • @canibaldance Who asked for your comment about my tip? Or is it just your own personal desire to stir some sh*t up?

  • @canibaldance I agree.

  • Glad to see them reaching out to new audiences. btw not that i care, but people saying "sellout" a lot even know what it means? cuz i think (and I'm probably right) only reasons you would post a comment saying that, is either that's your way of expressing yourself (quite frankly pathetic) or you're just blindly repeating something someone else said in the same situation just to make yourself look smart. you know what? nobody cares,so shut up, and i try to see past your ignorance.

  • @Barto1361 50% right....

  • Whats background music ? I think its no Tool song .

  • Two fukn thumbs up for TheGreaterSatan. I wanted to write a comment about the definition for "sellout" but you said it man.

  • so people mimic eating pussy when they play guitar hero?

  • Since I'm getting a lot of positive replies....

It also wouldn't hurt Nintendo to just make the songs for GHWT in the wifi shop. I would hope that later they make most songs available, and at least have ratings on them, since obviously some Tool would end up censored. Seriously, a drooling kid that plays on Beginner wouldn't know how to get onto wifi anyway and buy the songs. I think it would be cooler if the user could set their age on their Wii so Nintendo can distribute the material we want.

  • what's the BG song called?? .. is pretty cool ...

  • @stevekiddo the song is called royal charm by able and baker.

  • Comment removed

  • they should make a guitar hero just for Tool, that would be the shit!!

  • @Victizzle1 If they did that, everyone, include their dog, would like Tool, just like the Beatles.

Honestly, they should just make a guitar hero where you can just port your own songs.

  • Anyone know the song in the background??? Seems like a sneak peak at some new stuff

  • hell ya kycap, tool pwns, everyone in the world has to listen to lateralus

  • @Mystikalmiguel86 Which is actually my favorite song not to mention. First listened to it one night when I had to write a long-ass research paper. My teacher probably thought I over thought and over-analyzed some details I wrote.

    Hell, well I'm not complaining!

Another song everyone in the world must listen to is Aenima, for obvious reasons.

  • @KycapLanew LEARN TO SWIM!

  • @jason85321 Wait! ....was that supposed to be an flaming or encouragement? Come to think of it I've quoted Aenima a lot through these Tool related vids because all anyone wants to do is smoke pot while listening to the music.

  • @KycapLanew dude, stfu i am just fucking with you and yes i DO smoke pot while listening to TOOL.i get a lot of spiritual connections from the high and the music.why not?

  • @jason85321 I find that being high while listening to the music would distort the meaning in their music, but I'm not entirely against your personal freedoms, I just prefer not to tread that path. Go ahead man! Get high!

  • anyone who says "instead of playing guitar hero, pick up a real guitar!" is a fucking moron. I picked up a real guitar because of Guitar Hero.

Just thought I'd throw that out there

  • Well that sucks TNA796

I got a guitar because i love music and it was perfect

and only later tried guitar hero...it is totally different.

  • If it wasn't for this game, I wouldn't be listening to Tool now.

I like trying to understand their music, and I never would've heard of this band if it wasn't for what they did here. I bet this reeled in a lot of other younger fans, who are now growing up thinking more sensitively, and are definitely maturing faster than the people who listen to that Lady Gaga bullsh*t.

  • good for u man! good taste!

  • @KycapLanew SAME HERE

  • @KycapLanew i did have a vision as a child that they would create guitar hero,i had a vision of the guitar and everything...i do hope the come out with a TOOL version

  • @KycapLanew I totally agree with you. I never would have got into Tool if it wasn't for ghwt. only heard mention of them before and now i love them. :)

  • @KycapLanew ya same i never would have heard of TOOL and now I have some CDs of them all because of the 3 songs on GHWT.

  • @KycapLanew Same for me, despite my newfound dislike for GH (because they make a new one every year) thanks to this game i found out about this fantastic band

  • @KycapLanew I actually liked Tool way before I even heard of Guitar Hero. But I heard them on KROQ. From that station I heard "Vicarious" and "The Pot". I thought those songs were pretty tight so I decided to check out more stuff from them. When I did, I just felt enlightened. I felt blessed to be open to Tool. The thing is though, I'm open to almost anything from Metallica/SOAD to Michael Jackson/Public Enemy. So when I heard Tool, it was like a gift for having an open mind. (continued)

  • @StalfosSlayer That's really what happened to me, and in addition, I also listen to Dragonforce (growing out of it though, favorite song is EPM), SOAD, and sometimes Rise Against. I do think of Tool as a mixture of bands sometimes and they do this in all their albums. 10000 Days had some nice acoustic songs, Intension, and Right in Two, and Undertow is like all of Tool's Metal, and heavy stuff, Flood ;). It's all Tool, but the albums are all different, and carry great messages subliminal or not

  • @KycapLanew So when Guitar Hero 3 came out, that's when I got into Guitar Hero and Rock Band. When GHWT was coming out, I was exited to see Tool in there. But I also thought, "Is this even possible? Tool doesn't really care about publicity." But this BTS vid pretty much clears things up for me.

  • @StalfosSlayer And, the best part about Tool is that their songs mean whatever you want them to mean. I think of some of their work as love songs, like the lyrics in H, 4 degrees, and The Patient (somewhat). Really, Tool doesn't convey a meaning to their songs unless they actually announce it, like how Wings for Marie was for Maynards mother, and how H was actually (read this in a comment, not entirely sure) was about Maynard missing his son from all his touring with Tool.

  • @KycapLanew Yeah, it's also interesting how the connection between their song titles and the meaning of their music. "Prison Sex" for example (my dad was like "What the hell" when I told him this). When you hear that title, you think of big creepy men finding love within enclosed areas, but that's not what it's about at all. I've seen ppl debating the meaning of these song in comments of other vids but I just say "Fuck that, who cares? It's music and that's all that matters. =]

  • @KycapLanew well you can like both im 14 and i like tool and system of a down and i love lady gaga 2 i play guitar hero asswell as real guitar

  • @djghostaxel I just think Lady Gaga is such a narrow artist. She only allows herself to be what her fans want her to be, the majority of her songs are about clubbing/drinking, and her fans, who attend my school, are either total sluts, or complete assholes. (no offense to you) Let's compare to TooL and SOAD. Their singers are EPIC, and their songs have powerful meanings. I think it's great that you have an open mind in terms of music, but listening to music has different purposes for many people

  • @KycapLanew yes atleast she writes her own songs never playbacks and has a good voice though better than frickin justin bieber

or that other terrible sound people dare to call music whats it called oh ja techno

  • @KycapLanew and there is one thing i hate about all new artists it all sounds so autotune whereas to artists like system of a down NIN MM Tool they all have emotion in their music and they are awesome live

  • @KycapLanew Amen!

  • fuck yeah dude. i started listening to tool when my dad bought the 10,000 days album and made me listen it in the car. ever since then, i can get enough tool. i can stop counting the letters that maynard sings. i can stop thinking about the riffs that adam does. i love the beats that danny makes up. and i love the solos with justin chancellor. i play guitar so i had a really deep connection with this band. ive expanded my mind to capture and understand things i could have never doon without tool

  • @KycapLanew A lot of people would bitch you out for finding this band out through Guitar Hero, but I just say "Fuck yeah, new Tool fan!"

  • @Isosyth Lol, well EVERYONE bitched me out when I found Dragonforce through GH3, but the difference between Tool and Dragonforce is that I don't listen to Dragonforce religiously.

(besides the other obvious differences I mean)

  • @KycapLanew Eh, I don't see why people do that. To me it doesn't really make a difference how you found a band, through the radio, a game, TV, etc. If you love the music then why should it matter how you found it?

  • @KycapLanew you think you're better than someone because they listen to music that you don't like? Not that I personally listen to Lady Gaga or Justin Beiber but if you break it down then you will realize that that's all that is being played on the radios and televisions these days and it's being forced down these kids throats and the majority of them don't know any better because they haven't heard anything better because to really find good music anymore you have to dig deep and search..

  • @Coxor629 Im not talking about whether or not a person is better than another. I'm talking about potential and kids who listen to something as meaningless as clubbing music will not reach their potential in realizing the complexity of human sensitivity. Surely there are people who understand things you learn by listening to more complex music AND are still choosing to listen to Gaga but those people seem uncommon these days The rest must know there's more to life than what theyre being forcefed

  • @Coxor629 Not to get into an internet war, but gaga is really on a different level than bieber or the jonas brothers or perry.

  • @KycapLanew

you just gave me hope that the world is not falling apart one gaga song at a time.

  • @KycapLanew Tool is and has always been an amazing band from the beginning. Glad you found them your ears will thank you for it. Might I suggest listening to their very early stuff as well. I love all of it, but nothing and I mean absolutely nothing can top opiate.

  • @atomana11 I prefer the Lateralus album myself, but all of it is amazing, and it evolves as the band matures. It's fantastic music that needs to be shared with the few willing to appreciate it.

  • @atomana11 My favorite album is Lateralus hands down. Opiate was equally as powerful but the only reason I liked Lateralus more was because the subject matter intrigued me. Really, you can't compare Tool albums as far as absolute awsomeness because they always do something different with every album. For example, Lateralus = Meditative, Opiate = Complete Bad-ass, 10,000 Days = Aliens/MJK's past. I find their music more favorable than other metal bands because Tool always strives for diversity.

  • @KycapLanew Me too

  • Fuck guitar hero, go on tour!

  • selling out isn't about what you do, its about how you do it...people can go commercial and still not be sellouts...

  • I can't believe TOOL did this either.I mean it's great, but it seems to go against a lot of what they are about...somebody's gotta pay for maynard's fancy wines i guess

  • i can't believe Tool did this! They seem so elusive to interviews and commercial stuff. That rocks that they chose to do it. Adam Jones does all of their vids.

  • i wish they had tool songs on rockband, I like it better than GH

  • alex should of talked a bit

  • Adam is so cool !!! he could totally make a sick movie.

  • should have done, cold and ugly, lateralus and maybe the pot or hush, definitly cold and ugly and lateralus, maybe keep parabola

  • @ZyggieFromJiU Vicarious would be kept too.

  • Jambi, Forty-Six and 2, Aenima and Third Eye.

    But I'd keep Vicarious. :)

  • Who is Linkin Park?

  • @Zybezane

    They're kinda like...Slip Bizkit.

  • Lol.

  • Yeah right, you're fucking retarded if you think they even sound close to Limp Bizkit or Slipknot.

  • @shibbywalkk

Hey dumbass with the misspelled, stupid name: It was an inside joke. One that you obviously didn't get. The joke is: Back in 2001, when TOOL was promoting Lateralus, they did an interview with Channel V in Australia. At one point the band was asked about the "nu" bands, such as Linkin Park. Danny didn't know who they were and asked, "Are they a boy band?" to which Maynard replied, "No...they're like...Slip..Bizkit...or whatever that stuff is."

    Stupid.

  • lol!

  • what is the name of the song playing in the background?

  • hahaha he called u a douchebag! u gonna take that? man u a bitch if u do!

  • dude, there is nothing wrong with tool fans communicating theyre ideas and feelings. thats how the worlds remains influence. think about it like this. when tool writes a song, theyre communicating theyre ideas. we listen. were influenced. same with other fans.

  • @ Linux Python Your an asshole! Nice try with the virus on your page. Just so everybody knows if u click on this douchbags website on his page its a VIRUS. Report him.

  • spooky? thats one word tool would never use to define their music...

  • adam jones speaks!!

  • i like the the eye ball

  • if there was ever a band specific guitar hero game that should-fuck it- needs to be made, it's guitar hero: tool. hell, one of the only reasons why i would ever want to play guitar hero 4 again, is to play the tool songs.

a neversoft and activision should take advantage of having tool songs. not only would it gain some respect back from them, it would also be cool to see what else they can do with the music video type backgrounds instead of having fugly characters prancing around on stage.

  • @Maztuhmind I thought about that too.

It would be rated MA though, but no one should give a damn.

You would have the option of playing Intention separately, or have Right in Two follow immediately, 10000 Days Hidden Track would be playable, Lost Key + Rosetta Stoned........and lol.....Lipan Conjuring, that would be epic!

Jeez, I love 10000 Days so much....

  • @Maztuhmind The last thing i want to see is Tool sellout. You know your band is dying when you have your own Guitar Hero.

  • @lookitsmyvideo

    lol true.

  • Funny seeing people argue about Tool songs/ meaning on here in a really serious way. You do realise that a lots Maynard's lyrical content is actually quite sarcastic and a bit of a piss-take? There's songs about baking cakes, Bill Hicks, and a drugged up dude who shits himself.

"We take what we do seriously, but we don't take ourselves seriously" - Quote from Maynard.

Anyway, I personally really enjoyed playing the songs on GH. In no way is it "selling out". Just enjoy playing a Tool song!

  • wow i must say well said, i can see that you are quite the Tool fan and a true fan at that

    -cheers

  • You forgot about the song where a man yells at another man for agreeing with him.

  • yes, judging by comments on youtube, a lot of tool fans see themselves as higher up intellectually than the average person. its kind of sad really because its just music and if they want to put it on a game then so fucking be it.

  • exactly, well said.

  • But its not your typical dumbed down crap that the radio plays. Tool fans come off as more intellectual because it takes that kind of mind to even understand this music. Tool is not your head bobbin no thought music, You want to see brillance in music go watch the video "The fibbonacci in lataralus" Average musicians or people dont comprehend It, so tool fans ARE smarter because that what it takes to even "get it".

  • @jmntooldrummer but many of them probably don't even understand it, they just say what they heard some other tool fan say about a song, or rattle on and say something pretentious most of the time.

  • That is a shame.I know there alot of young tool fans out there.I recently saw them live for the 12th time in Pomona and Most of the crowd knew all of the music but when they played Flood there were a select few people that knew what was up, and the seemed to be older. Im 30 and have been a hardcore fan since 97. Mabye being immersed in their music, art and thought process for the last thirteen years has made it sink in,Im also a musician so I think that helps.Being a tool fan has changed my life!

  • @jmntooldrummer

Im pretty young, being 21 and I was at that show in Pomona and I knew all the songs they played, I think it is just a matter of how into the band you are. The first album I heard of theirs was undertow, and I have listened to them all. Ever since then they've always remained probably one of the most influential bands in my life

  • Right on, good to hear. What did you think of Linkin Park's show compared to TOOL? Just out of curiosity?

  • I personally don't really like Linkin' Park all that much. I went to the show to see Tool so the other performances were okay but nothing incredibly memorable. I didn't even go up close to the stage until Tool and it took like 15 minutes to push my way to the front but I got there.

  • I did like Alice in Chains though, I didn't think any of the artists had a bad set

  • @jmntooldrummer i feel ya man, It has changed mine as well,. I think differnetly now. I love tool

  • oh please, you make me laugh. "Tool fans ARE smarter". try not to generalize a base of a few million people, ok? the Fibonacci sequence being incorporated in a song is nothing spectacular. it's creative, and original, but it's not some higher form of intellectuality.

it doesn't take a genius to understand tool. they're one of my favorites, i love their creativity, but i don't go around saying how all those who understand their creativity are "smarter" than others.

  • @Progressification Smarter as in i can do math better than you or "Enlightened"?. Well im not that good at math but "getting" tools music makes me feel like i know something most of the world does'nt know ... im glad tool added songs to gh , love to drum to their tracks .. XD thank you come again ..

  • @Preciado6

"makes me feel like i know something most of the world doesn't know" , You make me laugh, kid.

Explain what it means to "get" their music, I'm interested to see your logic.

  • @Progressification Its not something i can tell you, it might mean something different to you . i Dont know what tools music means to you but , their song mean alot to me cause they put their emotions and talent into their art, and i feel it ; it makes me emotional , and its personal to me. i can't and wont tell you cause we live in different worlds , mind set wise. Thank you come again ...XD

  • @Preciado6

Ok, I understand that perfectly, they're music makes me emotional as well. But saying we're more intelligent because we listen to Tool is just ignorant and absurd. It's just art.

  • @Progressification yea, some people are ignorant. But I never replied to say i was smarter for listing to tool just enlightend, if you know what i mean. XD

  • @Progressification

Just have some fun with it.

  • @ambientend

piss take it may sound like

but there is always ALWAYS an underlying message.

one that usually the artist, writer etc, understands

i dont like your comment, and i could argue against so much you've written, but intsead... since its youtube

    peace

    .

  • TOOL allday allday......everyday. best band out there. i mean how in the FUCK do they come up with that stuff??!! its kinda depressing as a musician knowing u cant make music better than that

  • what go fuck yourself they are not deep at all jesus grow up fuck off

  • 0:06 whats the song called?

  • i dont think tool has sold out with this. i think it gives there fans a chance to play there songs on guitar hero. its not like there selling pepsi and snickers.

  • humanity has been sold out

  • at this point, why do they care if their likeness is on a video game? their music is on it, why not put ur video game selves on it too?

i understand that they are about the music etc. etc. but cmon, stop dont take urselves THAT seriously

  • greater satan makes a good point...selling out isn't what you do it's why you do it...johnny depp was talking about letting them put his face on cereal boxes and he said it might be selling out but i just dont care so he sold out without really selling out

  • Tool owns

  • Do these lyrics ring a bell? "All you know about me is what I've sold you, dumb fuck. I sold out long before you ever heard my name." So shut up and buy...

  • does your brain work? a song is just a perspective about something, in that song maynard´s obviously exploiting the anger that he has towards ignorant kids who think they´re cool and different because of the products they consume. In those phrases he´s appealing to the extensive ignorance of people who judge musicians as sell outs just to feel like they´re not the ones who feed the whole business with the shit they buy.

  • Hey, look everybody. A Tool fan who knows everything! Maybe he will enlighten us with the meaning of all of Tool's music, using his vast knowledge and understanding of Maynard's lyrical ability. And if you say I was forcing my view...I was simply quoting lyrics. Take from it what you will, but do not try to stop my own journey of understanding...

  • I don´t know everything, it just seems pretty obvious.

  • "And in between sips of Coke, he told me..."

Tool has not sold out. They have never abandoned their principals to make a quick buck.

  • people who are mad about this are idiots. and people who are calling tool sell outs are even bigger ones. they never liscense their music and they do it one time? tool doesnt even have their concerts professionally filmed.

  • WOO!!! :D Outro of Schism at 1:03! (Don't question, I play the guitar, not the game.)

  • Why do 95% of the people who use the term "sell out" have no idea what it means? You're not a sell-out just because your music is in a video game. A sell-out is one who contributes their name/work to products they care nothing about purely for profit. It's more likely that most (if not all) of the bands who contributed to Guitar Hero/Rock Band liked the idea of people "playing" their music.

When Tool or Metallica start doing Disney movies or Zoloft commercials, then you can call them sell-outs.

  • @TheGreaterSatan I also like to add to this great comment. You cannot find Tool on iTunes no matter how hard you try. They encourage their fans to buy their albums in stores, the traditional way, and the best way, ofcourse. Buying music digitally is becoming overrated now. Tool would be alot richer that way but no.

  • @TheGreaterSatan They will never be sell outs, because they'll never ever do that stuff. I mean when was the last time Metallica or Tool contributed their name for money and fame. Only on guitar hero, that's it. But the reason they did that is to show kids nowadays what REAL music is.

  • @TheGreaterSatan your right they arent sell outs me and my friend sean are pretty much the only kids at our school who have liked tool since we were 9, grew up to this shit. everyone who checks them out is like wtf they are creepy and weird its like grow up and listen to some lyrics that actually mean somthing in a higher meaning. get over this love hip-hop shit and put some soul and anger into some music

  • @KLBRECH1 Wow, I'm embarrassed to call myself a Tool fan when there are people like you claiming the same name. "Put some soul and anger into some music" - you don't think there's soul and anger in hip-hop?? In nearly EVERY form of music?? There is crappy music to be had in EVERY genre - hip-hop, rock, EVERYTHING. There are rap artists with tremendously greater talent & music than some rock bands, and vice versa. Genre isn't to blame, the musicians themselves are!

  • @keckelma So true. A few shitty artists doesn't make a whole genre to shit.

  • other bands focus sooo much on image but when you reach tool and their gig on guitar hero its completely different game mann its soooo fucking overwhelming you almost dont wanna play their songs thats how i felt lol

  • I think Tool should just come out with their own Guitar Hero game! They're a very special band, if they had their own game, they could get their ideas out there and present Alex Grey's art. They are way too good to be in the same game as Paramore or Tokio Hotel.

  • you don't know it because it's not one of their songs...if it's anything related, it sounds like an Ashes Divide song

  • Man. This is embarrasing. I'm a big Tool fan —I even have all their albums— and I don't know the song in the background. o_o Can someone please help?

  • say that to maynard housefish

  • it looks like the caveman from the commercials

  • dont search 'tool' then.

    fucking mong.

  • maybe he searched "GHWT" >_>

  • no fucken way their should never be a fucken guitar hero tool itll destroy the whole meaning and deep meaning of tool with all of a sudden a bunch of stupid poeple saying they are tool and fans and dont even understand the art tool makes no way can tool end up like metallica

  • I agree metallica are a bunch of sell outs doing anything for money

  • i will refer you to the song 'hooker with a penis'.

for a tool fan, you sure seem like an idiot.
