Actually, the preparation is not so traditional... And i mean with that, that when you add the semolina to the oil, you have to stir it for at least 15 minutes... Actually, i stir it for at least 20 minutes when i make it, but the old recipe says that you must keep stiring it until the semolina from brown becomes white!!(It could take even more time!!) Then it is ready! And the flavour of the semoline comes forward... If it is not white you can just smell the oil... Try it with that way!!
It is not halva as I know...it is made out of sunflower seed paste or sesame seed paste

@h1z3p9 Yes, cream of wheat can be used as a substitute, but I prefer the taste of semolina.

You make it look so simple. I love it. However, I would add either slithered blanched almonds or pine nuts.

@MyPsipsina I am glad you like it. Almonds and pine nuts sound good idea. Some people add raisins.

very nice !
it's very similar to the Indian Halva!
only difference is is ghee (clarified butter) instead of the olive oil.
saicode 2 years ago
@saicode Some people also use butter instead of olive oil. There are lots of variations.

@saicode The word Halva(Halwa) is Arabic...Persians and Turks use it too for sweets...
