@cookierocks1000 Yes they are virtualy the same Instrument Euphoniums with the exception have a fourth valve for extending the range of the baritone either down into the tuba or is some cases to the upper range of the french horn

@TheBrendo525 Actually not all Euphs have the fourth valve. The difference between the two is the bore. Euphoniums have a larger bore which provide their better sound. However, they both read the same music generally and play the same notes. The only difference is the sound produced.

The reason the third valve is used sparing is because he has a fourth valve he can use on the side to make the instrument play C's and B naturals more in tune as well as some of the lower registry notes.

@DanielBoyer1 so true.. i started on a 3 valve eupho and my c's were almost always flat compared to rest of band.... although it wasn't untill i got one with 4 valves that i realised how bad it was! also my original instument was old and sone of the tubing was just stuck in place so was hard to tune anyways
