Just so it's clear. This is a TRAILER for a series on the website "Sonic State". If you want to see the series you have to go there. This is just a taster. Also, the samplers are not based on "cost" but votes from Sonic State viewers.
if the akai doesn't win it, i'll kill my self. i mean, akai s1000, if it wasn't for that value for money tank beast (or the MPC's and s900/s950) hiphop wouldn't of started in america and hardcore rave wouldn't of started in the uk.
Hell yeah! I use the S1100 and Akai has GOT to be one of the best out there (well, since the LATE 1980's anyway), but for the sounds in clarity and warmth you can't beat it, you can do more with it than the predecessor of all samplers, the Fairlight (Which I wouldn't mind owning one of those too!) but they did miss a few samplers like Synclavier, and Ensoniq ASR 10, Also the EMU SP 1200 for Rap/ Hip Hop-which HAS held it's value and costs more NOWADAYS compared to the $5,000.00 AKAI S1100
please remake this video and add that "top 5 samplers/coming soon" bumper clip a few more times. i dont think it gets used quite enough.

What about the EMU SP-1200 for hip-hop? I agree without Akai electronic music might not be where it is now but the SP-1200 sure still sounds sweet

You can find a decent SP-1200 on e-bay for around $1,200 bucks. And a SP-12 turbo for around $500.
