  • Jet Power!!!!

  • and its still kickin ass!

  • +1:1 thrust-weight. Eagle was a game changer. (That looks like Elmendorf - was there for the transition from F-4's to F-15s in early '80's. Time flies like a max performance take off)

  • Beautiful plane, beautiful scenery, one hell of a flight for that pilot

  • Wild Blue Yonder, here I come!

  • doesn't get any cooler than this.

  • LOL are you sure this F-15 is not a Space shuttle it sure sounds like it.

  • @SaberTanker22 HAHA, it's funny you say that....an F-15 will OUTCLIMB a Saturn V2 Rocket!!

  • @cap10moman isn't that the Truth lol

  • That's not a plane... it's a friggin' rocket.

  • Air Superiority!!

  • Thats the most amazing F-15 afterburner shriek I have ever heard and seen on YouTube. And that climb rate is what ? Like 330 metres/second. Superb power in those Pratt and Whitney engines.

  • Weak unrestricted climb.

  • f-22,s are all grounded. the air force should buy the f-15SE but are to stupid.

  • Anyone know if there is any deployed fighter aircraft in the world that can outclimb an F-15 today ?

I'm talking active duty full time combat fighter,

no test, no prototypes or one of a kind modified fighters...please.

    Thanks

  • @rampking1 Well the F-22 is in service as of 2005

  • @TH7596 You have a great point considering it has (at least) 35,000lbs of thrust per engine.

However, I've read from good sources that there is more to it than just power.

Perhaps there is a first hand opinion out there who can elaborate on this.

  • @rampking1 Nothing can....Even the Saturn V space rockets were outclimbed by the F-15 (at least to it's stated service ceiling....but has reached 100,000+ ft, non-sustained).

So in short, No, there is no currently deployed fighter aircraft on this planet that can outclimb the F-15 (and I guess you could include some rockets as well.....). This includes the F-22....

  • @cap10moman

Heard that same story of the Saturn V vs F-15

Your comment is even more amazing when you consider the prototype of the F-15 rolled out in I believe 1972.

    Thanks

  • @rampking1 You are correct....June 26th, 1972.....June 26th just happens to be my birthday as well!!

I took the controls of a 172 over when I was 7 and 1/2 yrs old (way before I even touched a car's steering wheel). 1972 is exactly 15 years before I was born and 15 years after my mother was born (who I 1st flew with). Her birthday is 15 days after mine....Not to mention, the first time I took the controls of the 172, I was 7 1/2, and she had been a mother for 7 1/2 yrs....=15. Kinda Eerie...

  • @rampking1 I've had 23 years to figure those numbers out (so it's not like a conspiracy thing, LOL...I just noticed the connections over time). My mom hung a poster of the F-15 next to my crib, and I still have the same poster hanging in my office (framed with explanation plates of course).

I know almost everything about this plane....So to get some Wikipedia quotes, you'll have to read some other comments. I say what I've learned through my life...it may not be 1st hand, but 2nd is good too.

  • @cap10moman Thanks for the great comments,

a little footnote, I kept the original Air Force Association 1972 magazine with the first F-15 on it's cover with corresponding article within. It was a light blue with dayglow orange trim.

I was at McChord AFB back when it was still a NORAD fighter F-106's base in 1980.

It was wonderful, imagaine Canadian F-101 Voodoo's, F-106's doing practice touch and goes, then a visiting pair of new F-15A's showed up, showed them how it is really done !

  • @rampking1 Soo glad to finally find someone who is an F-15 fan on here!!!

That's amazing that you still have an original issue F-15 magazine!! I'd love to see a photo of it!!

If you're interested in selling it, send me a message....If I can't afford what you're asking, my Dad definitely can (since I'm 23 and still paying off college and all).....But if you're like me, you'd have to pry that thing from my cold-dead-hands!! haha.

    Respect.....

  • @rampking1 Oh and I forgot, my dad was 26 yrs old in 1972, and his birthday is 15 days before mine (the 11th). Hahaha. I just had to add that, as he is a pilot as well.....There's a lot of 26's in there and the 15's go with the F-15....I guess it was destiny for the F-15 to be my favorite!!! haha

  • @rampking1

The only thing I can think of is the old English Electric Lightning but they are long gone and didnt carry anywhere near the payload that an F-15 does and the radar/avionics on the Lightning were prehistoric and hardwork to operate.

So to answer your question - The F-15 is pretty much the King of the sky.

Its the number 1 air to air plane, nothing beats it.

  • that thing is rumblin hard

  • Damn, I miss seeing these sights.

  • I respect ya dude.....

  • If it looks right, it IS right! The F-15 is a wicked looking airplane, and it performs wickedly too! Just ask the pilots who have gone up against it, if you can find any survivors! Like a top fuel dragster, this plane looks like it's going mach 2.5+ just sitting quietly on the ramp. The F-22 is a great plane, it just looks squat and dumpy on the ground for some reason. I guess that means it is truly only at home in the air.

  • @pg1171 The F-15 to the F-22 is like a steam engine next to a desiel electric. I saw a F-22 follow a F-15 and square off the corners.

  • @gregrutz It's more like a Lotus and a '67 Mustang GT500. Sure the F-22 is more maneuverable ("square the corners"), but the F-15 will win in anything "straight". You had a pretty shitty comparison example too...as trains run on rails. So both the Steam and Diesel-Electric would would go around the corners exactly the same....just sayin'. Show me one single video of an F-22 outclimbing an F-15, and I'll show you the video of the first man on Mars...cuz until that day, you won't find one...

  • @cap10moman The F-22 takes on 4 or 5 F-15s in practice dogfights. They can't find him.

The steam engine / Electric comparison was about looks = Stealth.

I just know whick one I would rather be in under any conditions.

  • @gregrutz If the "4 or 5" F-15's can't find the F-22, it's not a dogfight. It becomes a dogfight once the pilots obtain a visual, not when a blip appears on their radar screen. The F-22 is stealth....not invisible to the naked eye.

And LOOKS? REALLY? alright, then the F-15 is like a GTO, and the F-22 is like a Prius. I call BS on that explanation..

And why rather be in the 22? A plane with a less-than-proven combat record when the 15 has a FLAWLESS ~35yr combat record? I'll take FLAWLESS

  • @cap10moman I am not saying the F-15 was not the best fighter out there but you will never out turn vectored thrust. The F-22 doesn't need to fly to stay in the air.

  • @gregrutz You're right, the F-15 will never out-turn the F-22's vectored thrust....It'll just light the burners and say "see ya later!!"

You're also right about the F-22 not needing to "fly" to stay in the air....but how does that help you...at all??? Go ahead, stand still in the air with the F-22....just an easier target for the F-15.....

Still waiting on that video too.....

  • @cap10moman Missiles now do mach 5 so you are going to get shot down from the ground anyway.

  • pioneer peak?

  • Man that puts a smile on my face!

  • yep taking off runway 24 at Elmendorf AFB

  • Pure power baby...

  • that is sick.

  • is that 15 from this recent red flag tdy to alaska

  • HOLY CRAP!!!Love the plane and still lovin the noise!!
