I feel like a champion should at least be intimidating. I mean, Cynthai has an amazing battle theme and is also genuinely scary, with a scary team to back it up. Meanwhile Alder is far too cheery for a champion IMO and even though hes strong the battle feels kinda lame becuase of his music and him. N/ Ghetis on the other hadn mught as well have been the champion, as they were far cooler.

I heard this theme alot in my first run of Emerald. Especially since I was stupid enough not to get an electric pokemon, and had to brute-force my way through with my Blaziken, Geodude, Azumaril, Absol and Staraptor
This theme is better than Garys. really. everyone says gary's is good, but gary is just and over leveled, unlikable asshole. And whats the deal with garys theme being "a true rival theme" ?
it's only a normal trainer theme because they were to lazy to make one for him. Sure, gary was a good rival and a challenging champion, but still. steven is WAY cooler.
@lucaskronenbergen1 Can't agree 100%. Emerald bing my first game has left me sort of used to fighting wallace. But what I'd truely love to see is this:
Steven is champion durring story line. After you beat him he appoints wallace to fill his place.
Post game you can fight steven in meteor falls many times, daily or by pokenav, with level 70+ pokemon ofcourse where you then fight wallace as champion with level 70+ pokemon also. I don't realy dislike either, I want to see how they're remade.
@lucaskronenbergen1 Agreed, but in Emerald, Steven ends up being pretty much Red 2.0 if you find him. I fought him with only level 50s... one hell of a tough fight.

If wallace were to utilize their potential he could become stronger. My watertype team uses all hoenn accessable pokemon and I beat my friend with it.

I'd have to disagree though. The champion doesn't need to have an agressive appearance, if that were the case they would've made a dark or fighting type champion ages ago. Plus just look at alder, even though he's my least favorite. I guess it's just more of a preference sort of thing, but I feel Wallace is perfectly cool looking with that cape. Capes are amazing.
@lucaskronenbergen1 Through my time playing emerald where Steven was a sort of "Red" character hidding away in his mountain, I've come to respect both as actual "champions" much like Lance and Red. Steven's team doesn't require much changing at all, Infact the new generation does him good with the enhanced sturdy ability. I do feel that Craydily would be better off with its dream world ability (makes water damage 0x).
I don't mind Steven being champion, but hoenn is the region of water types.
@okjoek1 Hoenn is actually 50% land and 50% sea, because of Groundon and Kyogre... You're right about sayng that Hoenn has the most sea routes and water Pokémon, but I think Hoenn is the place of many relations. I just don't like Wallace because his appearence. This is prejudice, but it's a game. I prefer Steven because of his appearence and his Pokémon.
@okjoek1 The first Pokémon game I have ever played is Emerald. I remember when I was going to choose my very first Pokémon. It was Mudkip. Since then I love water Pokémon.

What I noticed when looking through bulbapedia that sets hoenn off from other regions is that most have one boss like pokemon with a base stat total of 600, but hoenn has two, Metagross and Salamence. The others are: Dragonite, Tyranitar, Garchomp and Hydreigon.

According to Ash in DP191, to become a Pokemon Master, you have to win the Pokemon League of that region, then beat Elite Four, and then, beat the Champion.
Then you become Champion Master and of course the Pokemon Master too.
@AkamaBara1 Also, if you lose to any member of Elite Four or Champion, you are eliminated from goal to become a Pokemon Master because you cant rematch them after you lose and you have to do it again in another region.

@999giratina Not against gyarados and tentacruel you're not =D. Water pokemon are the best because they've been paired with every element except fire. They only have two weaknesses which are easily blocked by sub typing and ice moves. Sadly it's hard to realize their true power when the game refuses to let the pokemon league advance past level 40/50s.I hope they each bcome champion in one of the hoenn remakes. Saphire resembles water (wallace) and ruby resembles earth or stone to match steven.

Nintendo has said they are not going to make a R/S remake, but the hope is in the version they left out, they left out Emerald, and that makes you think they did that for a reason right? I hope they at least remake Emerald. Emerald was a good game.
