These youths are growing up in a society which values NOTHING but consumerism, in which the very people up top, are NEVER held to account for anything - so, they are emulating it. Nobody is excusing their behavior, but they are learning all this via the 'society' at large: a dog eat dog world. Cameron was involved in destruction of property during his teens- did he get punished? No, he's now the prime minister. This woman is talking about the SYMPTOMS of a diseased society, not its causes.
I'm going to be honest and white knight for Christine a bit, even if she herself does not support my views..and probably doesn't.
As a small government social conservative (atheist n economic progressive though) I had to laugh and clap when I heard this, this is a triumph of support for personal responsability. yay!
But with that aside, I think it is comentary that got unclearly mixed in with what was the facts of the reports.

I thing one thing you are misrepresenting her on though is that you seem to be saying she is calling all people there rats, like she has a rich conservative disdain for those people when it's clear she is upset with the looters and supporters of the looters and seems a little distraught about it all.
About the teen moms I found no evidence for that but I did read of people coming from other areas to loot, so a opinion n a fact.
I am all for sticking up for a friend or someone you think is being misrepresented so you will get no opposition from me there. That being said, I think the rats comment was being applied with a broad stroke brush. She used it numerous times and she applied labels to other people (teen moms) without merit. There is something about the tone and her subtlety in which she spoke that makes me think she was applying it to more than just the visible looters.
