@fahim113 i think it has gone crap. rmember how Stoner used to blow away Rossi on straights with that bike? that was pure horse power! now the others have caught up. not saying Stoner was not a better rider of the bike, just saying that the Ducati has fallen back.
@wkmitchell i don't think it was so much a top speed advantage. i think it was an acceleration advantage. the other manufacturers have steadily chipped away at that advantage though, which is why Stoner did not win a championship on that bike again. but yeah i do think Stoner rides the bike better than Rossi, i just don't think Stoner would be leading the championship now, if he was still on a Ducati.
@fahim113 I agree. You can tell it isn't a totally crap bike by looking at Nicky Hayden as a yardstick. He is no further forward or back than he was last season. He is the one constant that links Valentino's performance on the Ducati with Stoners.
@wkmitchell nicky hayden on the gp11 finished nearly 15sec behind from his last year's race time. in fact now the ducati is fighting with the suzuki and the sat ducs. that is definitely backward.
@rattletop Yeah, 13.6 secs down on last year, which to be honest would not have been the case if he had of had clear race track in front of him instead of Valentino. I have never seen Rossi so buggered after getting off a bike in my life. He has the ability to make himself very wide when he clearly has the slower bike ('08 a perfect example). Hayden was as frustrated as hell at not being able to get past. All of the riders times where at least 3-4 seconds slower than last year. Cheers!
@rattletop The other point I'd like to make is that I was referring to track position, points, championship standing etc, not necessarily race/lap times. My main point however is that if you want to compare Vale to Casey on the Ducati, use Nicky to measure them. If Nicky was usually 25-30 secs off Casey's pace at the end of a race, then that is how far ahead Valentino needs to be in comparison. Hayden was hardly ever even close to Casey's race or the practice times, Vale isn't that far ahead.

@MrMilan90 I won't discuss about Rossi but about Ducati. Who can ride it fast ? Everyone is crashing because of the ... let me guess ... the front. He is the fastest of the Ducati riders and he doesn't want to change his style that much in order to take enormous risks to crash like it happened with CS last year.

@horayman The Ducati only had a speed advantage for the 1st half of the '07 season. Since then, there has been very little difference in top speed.
