You have had really nice ideas! I have also always thought that the best solution would have been to have a single item: luggage which at destination becomes a trailer. An idea could be to attach the Y frame of the Y trailer by carryfreedom to the B&W Koffer (my trailer is the city, but on Carryfreedom site there are other types). Let me know in the future if you experiment other solutions like the one you have written here... Thank you and see you soon!
Now, the next job for me is to mod the BW Koffer by dumping the extendable handle and adding a drawbar (aluminium tubing) instead which can be taken off and packed in the case. Then it's put some other wheels on the case instead of those small ones. I'm thinking of either modding the existing integral ones or making some that come off and also pack. I really think that the case can be the trailer as well; saves on the junk you have to carry with you.
Hey! I've been using the BW Koffer as well for flying with my Brompton. If it's of any use to you, I pop riveted two wheels and castors to the bottom of the case (50mm wheels which you can get in a set for about 20GPB) which makes it easier to move around than barrowing it on the integral wheels with the extendable handle.
No, You don't have to deflate the tires... just fold the bike and put into the luggage :-) The only thing you have to remember is to unscrew the two hinge clamps (just a matter of seconds) because with that luggage (a B&W luggage) it is suggested so.
Enjoyed watching your vids, esp Bromptiana Jones one. I very nearly bought a Brompton last week but decided to hang on to my paratrooper for a little while longer.
@chrisbuxton1958 Thank to you, Chris!...1 year ago I was looking for a similar video. So, as soon as I was back from my tour, I put the video I would have liked to find, hoping it'd be of help. Happy you have found it :-)
You can also tour with the hardcase on the trailer but I preferred to send it back to Italy via mail (from Copenhagen), then cycle till Germany and by train to Italy. Or you can send it to your last tour stop in USA.
Enjoy yr tour, Chris, and let me know when you'r back!

You can find this trailer at carryfreedom
the model is City, very compact, and indeed very light (it's five kgs) and strong. Ciao! Martino
