From what I understand is that your "opinion" is that when God/Jesus says "this is my Body" it is a metaphor. Your only argument is that you Read it like that .Well we as Catholics obviously read it otherwise. The logic of your argument is only one of interpretation and very weak at best. We as Catholics have been interpreting the bible a lot longer than you protestants with many many brilliant minds doing so.I think I am going with the wisdom of Jesus' first Church.
If you don't take the Bible literally , then you don't believe in it, PERIOD. Either things are or they aren't , didn't Jesus himself say you must be hot or cold , but never lukewarm ?
Learning to take God's word at face value is one of the most important messages for the Church...New Covenant...Old Covenant. One of the reasons for the strength of Dawkin's beelzebull is OUR misappropriation of scripture, not taking it in CONTEXT CONTEXT CONTEXT, and then the application of OUR Faith. Or as Lewis so eloquently put it in Pilgrim's Regress...settling for a copy of God's word instead of being the evidence of the Unseen. Greg the use of a naked sword is a beautiful thing!
I have pulled weeds all my life. The easiest weeds to pull are the small ones in fertile ground. The toughest weeds are those that lie in the cracks of the asphalt. The logic of Dawkins and Hitchens are weeds in the asphalt. They want to be called the "brights" and are as boisterous as C.S. Lewis portrays "Mr. Enlightenment" in Pilgrims Regress. BTW A must read for any atheist who wants to take on Christianity. Yes we must stand for reason. She is the one to take on this giant weed.
Have you ever read any G.K. Chesterton? May I suggest "The Ball and The Cross" It is about a naive Christian and a naive atheist who challenge each other to a duel to the death. Which label does Hitchens like? Do you like the label the "brights"? I kinda like the label for an atheist...cause then the atheist can sing this "little bright of mine I'm gonna make it shine" Did you know that Shrek is a great movie about friendship? Sometimes it takes a donkey to make friends with an ogre.
Yes, I do and I also believe that they can see angels...just call me Jack. I think there are many naive atheists lacking complete wisdom especially those who like to comment on spiritual things and don't have a clue what they are talking about. No God no wisdom. Know God and know wisdom. I have a song about talking donkies...I will record it and dedicate it to you.
You believe that donkies can talk and can see angels? There's really no excuse believing nonsense in the modern world. I hope that you attain an education and move away from your parents/preacher. Get away from the source of your brainwashing.
If I'm not qualified to comment on spiritual claims, like your god Yahweh, then you're not qualified to comment on Allah, Thor or Zeus. Hopefully you see the error in your "logic."
Boy are you WAY off in your assumptions. Is it possible that the same may be true in your belief system? There's no need for brainwashing when you have EXPERIENCED TRUTH. "Men will not believe because they will not broaden their minds"-GK Chesterton.
Jeremy, PAIN is the first truth. Which evidence would you like to hear first...how my mother tried to kill me or my time in hell? So are you not an atheist as the comments on your channel allude to? If not, what is your belief system? World view?
Pain is the first truth that something is wrong. It is empirical evidence that we all have experienced.
My time in hell...I live in a part of the country where churches spend more money on buildings than they do on taking care of the poor or the elderly.
Where worship is defined by a narcissistic "feeling"
Where crystal meth is raping lives.
Where so called preachers are extorting money from the poor by promising them miracles they can see...
If you take "NO OTHER GODS" literally then you need to reject the trinity and become Jewish. Jesus is a second God, a golden calf, an idol.

Do you take the Bible literally ? NO, because Greg said so.
But who decides to take what literally?

Hitchens doesn't like the "brights" label for atheists. Maybe you should learn about him before you comment.

I don't think I'd like Chesterton's work. Why would an atheist be naive? Most atheists I've met are careful to base any beliefs they have on EVIDENCE.
Hitchens said that "atheist" is a fine label. I don't like the "bright" label.
Do you believe that donkies can talk, like the bible claims?

Jeremy, do you love anyone?

My belief system? I don't recall telling anything about my beliefs, so you're the one making assumptions.
What "truth" have you experienced and what evidence do you have to back it up?

Pain is the first truth of what?
Your mother tried to kill you? How is that evidence of a sky nanny?
I'm an atheist. I never told you anything about what beliefs I have. Sigh.
Your time in hell? Oh, do tell, lol.

Pain is truth that something is wrong? Yeah, I guess you're right. This pain in my ass must mean it's time to hurry to the toilet.
You live in a bad area? So what, how does that prove your sky nanny?
Jeremyguru 3 years ago
Before I get to the Sky Nanny let me record a song I wrote about pain...I'll be back.
