I have this guitar :), hey one question, is your guitar setup like in the user manual recommendation, you know, the thing that says the distance between the pickup and the strings must be (in the bass part) 3.6 mm and in the treble side 2.4 mm or something like that?, I am planning to adjust my guitar to those standards, But I'm just curious, is your guitar setup that way?
WHY,,,,WHY ON EARTH DO PEOPLE ALWAYS WANT TO KNOW ABOUT A GUITARS "PICKUPS" WHEN "PICKUPS" HAVE VERY LITTLE, IF ANY, TO DO WITH AN ELECTRIC'S TONE!!! THERES A SLIGHT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN OUTPUT LEVELS, SINGLE VS. HUMBUCKER COILS, BUT TO THINK "TONE" IS COMING FROM A "PICKUP" IS JUST COMPLETELY OVER-RATED AND PLAIN OL STUUUUPPPIID!!! ....no offence.
Hoping you can help with a question - I just put these in my Tele with the 4 way switch and I'm getting a lot of hum when I am in bridge only and neck only selection. Is that normal? Did I mess up my wiring?
I love the sound! How does it sound when strumming rhythm? I usually like the middle switch when strumming, but I also like soloing as well. Would you prefer the Texas Specials or something a little warming like Nocaster pickups?
@pdawiec That was on Ebay. I've figured out since then that BR stood for bridge (which I thought), but the NR is an Ebay abbreviation of No Reserve price.
Would texas specials be good for led zeppelin style rock?If not what would you recommend to get a tele with a good led zeppelin tone, this video makes me think it would work fine but I'm just asking.
very nice playing ,but the tex pickups are not as impressive that i thought they might be.mexican tele here 400 bucks stock pickups and im totally happy with them.
hehehe,, i dont know why some mex tele sounds better than a usa standard.. that is just an opinion.. but i have tried alot of mex and then switch to usa.. and there you go.. even in the guy in GC is laughing.. the question is WHY
Hey man, i just bought a telecaster with really low output pickups. the clean sound is amazing, but before i had this squier strat that had the most amazing overdrive iv ever heard. Ever play a squier with standard pikcups, and if so, how do the texas specials compare?
Stock pickups on a Squier Tele are just the worst, pitch them as fast as possible and if you have the money get Texas Specials.
And, while you're at it, if you have the extra money just replace every piece of wire in the Squier and totally redo the insides, because it comes with the cheapest parts ever.
I have a Tele Squier too, and I just didn't have the money for a Standard (or even a Mexican) so I gutted mine and redid the insides, worked wonders for me and now it sounds tons better.
Hey great guitar. I just put a Joe Barden double blade in the bridge on mine and want a louder better neck single coil. Do you think the Texas Special neck PU is an improvement over the stock Standard Am. Telecaster's.?
It would depend on what sound you are after. The Texas Special have a GREAT gritty sound, break up nicely. So they have that electric-blues tone. So if that's what you're after, I'd say yeah.
Now you've got a perfect tele.I believe that you'll never abandon the guitar. Why don't you install a Bigsby on it?I've played one with a Bigsby in a store and it's just awesome.I also hope you won't sell this masterpiece, man.

Phillip,
I see some tele "Texas Special" pickups that either have the letters "NR" or "BR" listed after them. Do you know what those letters mean?

Good playing bro, but the bridge pickup sounds a little muddy. Not in a bad way, but I expected more twang from a Tele.

The texas specials are a must for the tele. I refuse to use the regulars at all. Anyways, great sound man. I love it

I,m about to buy a squier telecaster.
But i,m going to put in Texas pickups and Grover.

go ahead and pay a little more for a standard...you'll get tired of the squire a couple of months after you get it.
