Williams fumbling is 100% not his fault as the job of the special teams coach is to call the correct play & the job of Jim Harbaugh to step in & make the right call which should of been a fair catch. I'm amazed everyone wants to crucify this kid like he did it on purpose. No one seems to mention that this was a heads up football play by special teams. The first muff punt was so close that the refs didnt even see til they got under the hood, Good heads up play by Devon Thomas. (Ok maybe he shouldve let it roll but 49ers had momentum and the kid wanted to make a big play) The second fumble was just good execution by Williams by going for the ball. Defense played well on both sides of ball.

@jejesdad I understand you--like many NFL fans-- always want to find some excuse to make sense of a loss. It makes you feel better. BUT, the 49s weren't moving the ball at all on their last 4 drives of the game. They had their chances, but weren't generating any offence to win.

Also, fielding a punt and returning it isn't exactly the easiest thing in the world to do.

Those guys are trying to destroy you out there, or at least strip the ball.
