  • For the girls with purple hair, I wonder if the carpet matches the drapes? ;>)

  • This show is a great concept just begging for a modern-day remake! I was just a kid back then but I still remember with fondness watching this show on tv. Modern day movie making techniques could finally do justice this. I've been hearing on-and-off again rumors about a new tv series or possible feature film. Are any of these still in the works?

  • @farmerne I agree, but you know that somebody in casting will douche it all up with the actors.

  • I wanted a girlfriend with purple hair

  • 1980!

  • What can i say....fantastico...I was real lucky growing up in 70/80s..

Thanks for taking me back a good few years.

  • Heard Gillard & Bowen are proposing a UFO type border security next. Apparently it was written after watching this show & the minutes were recorded on a beer coaster, just the usual ALP way of doing things really.

  • Nothing makes Sennheisermike hotter than seeing a big breasted, sassy looking British chick in a fishnet top. I don't know. Just call me old fashinoned, but those purple headed chicks just don't do it for me.

  • Ahhh those Saturday mornings, What great memories! anyone else notice @ 0.29 you can hear the earliest drum and bass. At least they got one prediction right !

    Thanks for posting :)

  • X-COM: 70's Edition.

Seriously though, this looks like a fun show. I'll have to check it out sometime.

  • Wow, that brought back some memories! This was before I had discovered anime, but man if that one chick didn't have the anime hair look way back when.

  • ha, yea, i remember this too - along with that other show that had the 'ken' and 'barbie' dolls. the other cool sound track at the start was 'danger island' uh oh chango!

is that a theramin, or moog synthesizer?

moog apparently was quite the scene back then, when i was in the US Air Force West Germany, i checked out an LP from the Ramstein Air Base library called 'MOOG GROOVE' that had exclusive moog stuff on it. groovy!

  • Neon Genesis Evangelion drew a lot of inspiration from this T.V series.

Misato Katsuragi's hair color and aesthetic was inspired by Lt. Gay Ellis, and the opening sequence bears a striking resemblance to the opening sequence portrayed in the 1995 NGE series.

I am highly interested in this series.

  • As a child I thought this program was the best! I never missed an episode.

  • What a Groovy looking show!

  • thanks for posting, probably the best sc fi series ever, how many themes from ufo have been "borrowed" ie liquid breathing, animal mutilations etc, christ straker was scary at times, you had the right mix of suspence and manevolence,i hope the new movie does not make a total balls up of the series.

  • Hey...didn't this become Space 1999 at some point or other?

  • @timepoet77 No, this was far better.

  • Muy buena serie, lastima que solo hay una temporada.

  • One of the coolest TV series intro. Never missed an episode

  • U.F.O. was usually shown late at night on UTV. Guess it was too adult in every way. Love the theme by Barry Gray, who also did season one of Space 1999. The thing that always strikes me most (oddly) is hairstyles in the future. With this show and Star Trek The Motion Picture I really noticed how difficult it is to come up with those kind of details that don't look silly.

  • It never gets old !!! I just love love the sound tracks . tx

  • I wonder what year in the future this was supposed to be set in?

  • Hmmm...I have no idea....hmmmm.... :-P ;-)

  • @dlnorton3001 Lol, I'm glad you got my joke; I've had people reply like I was serious. Those cars and purple haired gals never go out of style. ^_^

  • Too cool dude - I remember this show when I was like.... 5??? maybe

  • einer der besten englischen serien der welt :-))))

  • haha this was made in the 70's? How much did they think would change in less than 10 years? XD

  • Way ahead of its time. Miniature FX work still great to this day. Music is cool!

  • I used to watch this on Saturday nights on Channel 2 in NY. My parents were always going out to dinner at the time this was on and I will always associate this with my hot babysitter!

  • Man I can't wait until 1980 gets here! Alien encounters, purple hair, the miracle of polyester...

  • Well as for us boys gabriel drake was a sweet hottie for a kid who was about 9 then lolol. In fact for all boys at that age when watching UFO. But the aliens and ships were really at that time hard core stuff without a lot of barriers to get in the way of action. This was really a good kid show with gadgets and cool cars and swinging women to give the show a great luster. I have all cd's of this series and never get tired watching them again.

  • Are you saying us kids at that time were gay? Maybe you but not me. I dug all the chicks on this show and I was six at the time, see?

  • Best show ever made, I reckon. The rest of TV is tame rubbish by comparison! :)

  • i had a crush on the white hair guy - i was eight at the time lol - never forgot him lol

  • Not the 1980 that I remember.

    Sadly...

  • excellent !

    great memories

    thank you

  • The Future(1980) appeared alot more sexual than it became.Where are the women with purple hair and mini-dresses? lol
