  • @remijnB, perhaps you should use infrared LEDs instead of radio control. A website called Newark carries all sorts of components including infrared LEDs. But you should research more before using IR LEDs.

  • do fisherman get pissed when they see you coming? my brother used to do rc boats at lakes and ponds, the rednecks would accuse him of scaring off the fish. but oh well, the park is for everyone.

  • im into rc cars but o guess i wanna have one like this too... it's so cool... thanks for sharing this video... :)

  • I fell into a pit of lava and survived. Natural causes!

  • what rc frequency is best used underwater? I heared that radio waves don't travel well through water...

  • How deep can this sub dive?

  • Ware did u get it or did u build it

  • wat f u will build a camera that it can transmit the video wirelesly from the sub into a tv....

  • im not into subs heli,s are my thing but bloody good vid looked so real in the lake :)

  • No he has a mini camera on it

  • Modify it so it launches plastic torpedos.

  • Are you swimming with it?

  • There were a few small fish. They swam away fast from tthe sub. Maybe they thought it was a shark.

  • Amazing we didn't see one fish in the water.

  • Could I buy yours as Small World Models don't sell them anymore...

    I would pay 200-300!

  • @FishyPOL Sorry no.

  • How did you add the music to the video what program did you use ?

nice video by the way :)

  • @Emomoz this is an older video, at the time I think I used Pinnacle 10.

  • The name brand of the camera + price.

Thank you for answering my questions.

  • @drychalice Well I use a couple of different camera's. The camera mounted on the submarine itself is an A2K.

  • Where's the fish

  • @drychalice 4:14 lower right.

  • the worse background music EVER

  • @shadowfaithx Ironically I agree!

  • where can i buy one

  • @asskicker589 Don't believe Small World Models makes these anymore, you would need to find someone that is selling theirs.

  • So cool. Keep um coming.

  • Very nice! Thanks for posting this.

  • how deep can it go?

  • @Paintballboy54 In fresh water I typically operate 10 to 12 feet. They go deeper though.

  • I'd like to see an rc sub in paranah infested waters. I bet that would be cool

  • nice music men

  • It would be interesting to dive in large rivers like the Amazonia in brazil to make footage of abundant river wildlife , the Nile river and the lake victoria in africa

  • rofl at 4:29 Submerging into the ducks butt! Duck WTF

  • I love the detail of the depth guage on the tail.

  • What an incredible way to spy on fish. That's cool.

  • These very cheap craft of air and sea can be made in a way to control with a laptop or home computer so that they can travel very long distance expecially using small helium balloons to control into pupulated areas where people are starving and in need of food and ligiud nourishment. It can be like a wealthy or well off persons hobby to fly into remote areas where food and medicine is needed to fee the poor and hungry eat and with cameras to deploy online for a way a score successful missions!

  • wear can you get these

  • ware can i buy one love it

  • @articzoo Close. The St. Lawrence River, just downstream of Lake Ontario.

  • that was great. almost eerie!... you could put something creepy in the lake like an old mangled barbie!...and just as the scary music builds...zoom in it! lol...

  • Wow, that n=means you have pretty much all the time you want to control it, unlike the rc electric hei I bought, I went back to the shop asking okay I bought the box and it came with a charger I want the best aftermarket charger to charge in 15min and I want some longer lasting batteries...he looked at me and kinda just said well 1 hour charge and 6 to 9 minute flight time is the best you can get for a blade cx2.. :(

  • Got the blade CX2? The biggest limitation on flight time for me has been the motors. The stock motors heat up fast making heat sinks a must for extended flying. Even with the sinks I need to let the motors cool after flying for one 6-9 minute session. Also the battery is already about as heavy as it can be without affecting performance.

  • how long the battery last? i bet its way longer then 8 min for the helis that i got into right?

  • I would say on average 30 to 45 minutes per pack is my comfort zone. Can and have run in access of 1 hour ... but it is an easy field swap anyways.

  • niiiice vid! I'm in rc planes, never thought this can be fun, you changed that :) thanks a lot

  • me to wat kind of plane do you have

  • @GeneralZerimar I'm still new to RC, having an RCPowers Extra300, Cessna182, Multiplex EasyStar, wanna start with jets now - all electric... you?

  • did the sub come with a video camera or did u modify it so one would be on it? and how much did it cost

  • I modified the submarine to carry the camera.

    RC subs aren't cheap ... about 1K.

  • @bcliffe3055 Is your camera reception good at up to 5meters? Just bought a neptune sb-1, stock camera comes with a direct wire for video to monitor. They say video reception is poor in water. Any thoughts? I have no experience with these yet.

  • I have used a number of different cameras ... security wireless camera's as well as on board video. 2.4 Gig/Hz doesn't work in water you need to float an antenna to the surface to transmit.

  • Is it the Das Boot soundtrack?

  • No ... for this video it is actually the theme song from Dracula.

The Das Boot theme was used in my other video with the U-Boat

  • Haha love the music choice for this vid =)

  • i think i dodge a bit on my chair....

    scary shit right here hahaha

    awesome

  • do the horizontal wings or what do you call them, work ? or do you dive by just taking in water

  • great vid and sub by the way =D wish i had one

  • Well, you can't really dive by taking in water. You see, to get underwater by using ballast you have to hold a small amount more water than you do air. That is a taskall in itself, and you cant use ballast alone to dive great depths, simply because the more pum ps you have, the more air. To the ydroplanes do have to work.

  • Both. A ballast tank will allow water in to allow the boat to sink. The stern dive planes are really important for keeping the sub level while moving. Once submerged the stern dive planes are also used to increase or decrease depth.

  • When i was little my dad made me a rc sub . i sent it down to deep and we never saw it again :(

  • @Randomstuffs261 i feel sorry for you =/

  • lol that happened to me except mine got stuck in a little hole underwater and then my camera i had mounted broke

  • Heartbreaking.

Rule of thumb is to run in water you know very well, and be willing to go swimming.

  • Ever had to battle a miserable pike or musky :) How do cope with RC signal loss underwater is your video instant feedback or recorded.

  • I find that Bass are actually very territorial and protective ...

Most RC signals do well in fresh water but not salt water.

I have done both video types but prefer the record on board for quality.

  • OH yeah, i heard Sheerline had one of those to but more expensive

  • That's so cooooooooooool! Wow! Nice video!

  • Thanks!

  • bro if i was like u id put a fake shark fine on top of the sub an take it to the beach an record the scared shitless people haha

  • Hey, that is great job really. How deep it can go, and how far away from controller it can go? Could somehow increase range to 20-30 meters under water and 50-100 from controller?

  • On the surface radio range is good the same as any RC car or plane.

For depth it depends on the water. Fresh water ... down to 40 feet has been done.

  • The captain is on dry land looking into the water.

  • Very......very good movie..

  • Great vid. What camera are you using?

  • I use a couple of different cameras .. the sub view was an Orgon A2K

  • how cold is that water?

  • anywhere between ice and 75 degrees. The rule of thumb of RC subs ... if you can't go swimming for it don't play. The footage was taken mid summer so 70 to 75.

  • Really interesting!

  • Does an RC submarine work very similarly to how a real submarine work? Like how a submarine breaches?

  • Yes, most static diving submarines have ballast systems that operate on the same principles of the real thing.

  • buy????????????

  • CONGRATULATIONS....

    video...sound...photo....

    very very good!

the video is perfect. looks like a real film.

  • if your at a beach and u use a sub how do u know where its going

  • were can i buy one of this submarine,

  • That is awsome I would love to do that, where did you get the sub, ive looked all over sites and i cant find one.

  • Small Wold Models

  • nice sub. were did you get it?

  • Small World Models

  • Good job on the video. Thanks. I'm thinking of getting involved in this myself but (being close to the ocean) I was wondering if you might know of any way to overcome the video signal loss in salt water issue?

  • build a manned one!

I'm sorry, not much else, I didn't even knew salt water blocked signals!

  • well what comes to mind now would be something that floats which is physically attached (via a wire) to your sub.

So the floating thing would be your antenna.

To prevent trouble with the wire you might build something inside your sub which rolls the wire up (springloaded)

But this might not be worth considering for you, it partly ruins the stealth factor!

  • that water must be sooooo frickin cold

  • Great video. Nice touch with the (Bram Stoker's Movie ) Dracula music.

  • Thanks. Yeah I have mixed feelings about my soundtrack.

  • How many nuclear warheads does it carry? Just kidding.

  • hello nice vid, i fly rc planes via camera and goggles, would like to do a sub the same way, have to build one, my question is does the tx signal go very deep into the water?

  • The depth will very on the water. In a fresh water quary a buddy of mine his sub was getting a singal at 40 feet.

In the fresh water river I usually use I have no issues at 12 feet.

Typically in a chlorinated pool you will loose radio signal 4 feet down.

Salt Water ... immediate signal loss.

  • does it fire out torpedos and were did you get it...

  • This one no, but some RC sub do, check out my other video's.

    Small World Models

  • Great video buddy. I served on HMS Trenchant in the Royal Navy in 2007, what you have there is an amazing replica and to see that it actually goes underwater is very cool... hats off to you man.

  • Thanks !! The fact you served on the boat and enjoyed the video is the ultimate compliment. Thank you for serving !!

  • Nice video. I was trying to find an underwater footage for a long time.

  • Thanks a lot ! ( for Dracula... :) )

  • That is the coolest thing I have ever seen.

What great work and it runs so smooth.

I machined many parts for U.S. Navy subs of all types. I sure whould like to see the valveing in this Boat.

  • Well thank you as one who has served your comments are most welcome.

If you want to get an idea on the inside google "Reviewing Small Worlds Model HMS Trenchant".

  • excellent !! I love it ! ( could you remind me from wich soundtrack is the music? Thanks)

  • .. Dracula ... I know, go figure.

  • thanks !

  • I mean the camera.

  • Used a couple of different cameras, but the camera strapped to he sub is an Oregon Scientific A2K. Got mine on E-Bay.

  • Does it have a live feed to some display?

  • There is no live video output, they now have a model with a screen mounted to the back of the camera.

  • Thanks very much, hoping to make my own sub soon!

  • Where did you get this from?

  • Small World Models

  • well i'll be dammed, thought it was like replica guns where they have to be over 50% random colour so people dont think they're real. which would have been pointless on a model sub due to its size. with that in mind, good job it looks pretty much real.

  • Thanks. Ironically the blue paint job helps see where the RC model is rather then hides it.

  • whats with the gay paint job?

  • Google "Submarine Camouflage Schemes" to see ..

  • Do you have a screen showing the live picture from the camera or you do just make it go randomly? :-)

  • I do have a wireless camera to mount on the sub, don't use it for regular running ... tunnel vision.

In the right water you can see sub running. I can drive the sub 20 feet away 2 feet down and know where it is at the cottage.

  • Aha, Great stuff (Y)

  • Where did you get it?

  • 4:16 LOL fish

  • where did u get it

  • very cool!

  • That's so rad! Do they make little torpedoes for them, too?

That's really cool that you could stick a camera on it; It heightens my hopes for espionage!

  • Camera is put on at 1:40 :P

  • That was sooooo cool.

  • 2:36 SEA MONSTER

  • So same location with another Sub (not mine) Watch "The World Below (Part 2) at the 2:28 mark. That is what you would call a BIG fish.

The vid in question would be B_zAdqGVY3A

  • ive got a idea 4 u - u get loags of fifh bait, and put it on it (the sub) and let the fish chase it that would b so funny

  • it be funny if a big fish trid to eat it and you get it on video

  • You would be suprised how much bass will try and defend their turf ... just hasn't been caught on video.

  • Where do you buy RC boats like this? ive been looking everywhere. Any help?

  • Google "subcommittee" for the specific sub in this video Google "Small World Models"

  • is there/do you install a failsafe of some sort that will cause it to surface if it dives too deep or loses radio contact?

  • Yes there is. The $30 dollar investment of a failsafe helps to mitigate the loss of a an expensive RC toy.

  • How deep can the model dive? :)

  • It depends on the water. Models behave differently in fresh, clorinated and salt water.

In fresh water the model could operate at 30 feet, however you never go deeper then you can swim to retrieve the model if something should go wrong.

  • Saltwater is heaver, right?

  • err, heavier

  • The problem in saltwater is that radio signals do not get through. To operate an RC submarine in saltware the Receiver antenna needs to be above the surface.

  • Ah. I never that. Whats the RC range on the surface?

  • Well you should always do a radio range check, as it depends on different Transmitters / Receivers.

A couple hundred yards + is very common, usually you can drive the boat further then you can really see it.

  • all the way to the bottom! XD

  • whrong type of music

  • Yup ... it is as covered in earlier comments.

    What would you suggest ?

  • lol at music...

  • Where did you get that submarine?

  • Pretty cool

  • where did you get and how much was it

  • Sift through the rest of the comments, as this has been asked already.

Small World Models ... a fully operational static diving submarine with video will be more then 1K.

  • Excellent! Thank you for sharing.

  • Wonderfully done.

  • You must be a PRO!!! The camera going through the reeds fish and all, it could have been in the Movies! And then the Music bult tenshion!!! oh I LOVED it!! A+++++++

  • Thanks ! :)

  • great, absol. top pictures, more!

  • Thanks! I have a bunch more video and do to numerous requests will post some more soon.

Next up will be Ted's Type IX U-Boat with working torpedoes.

  • i look forward to your future video posts... do you have a time frame in mind?

  • Just posted 2 more ... will try and get the Type 9 done this week.

  • WOW - I would dream of stuff like this when I a kid! Great Job!

  • Thanks ! Yup I did to, guess I never really grew up :)

  • Good i will kill for a RC sub. with a water proof camera!

  • but this might be a nice alternative to a 2 million dollar ROV. We have people that could certainly drive them via remote control with all the Wii's out there. Anyway nice work.

  • Thanks.

On YouTube search for "The World Below" to see Ted's Submarine/ROV ... he call's it the Pipe Dream.

  • Wow, I had no idea that someone (You) had made a working model of a submersible with an on-board camera. A couple of things...1. Outstanding/Beautiful sub! 2. Incredible footage, relaxing to watch. 3. If I were you, If you have not already do so, would try to get a Govt. contract to build the navy some of these or at least a working model (wouldn't have to be a model of a submarine, probably better if it was not). Seems like it would be a great thing for them to have.I know about ROV's see below

  • Very nice video and beautiful model=)

  • at 2;52 wat the hell is in the back of the screen?

  • That would be the stern of our 14 foot KMV run about boat. Mostly used for fishing.

  • what are you talking about? It's Nessie! OMG!

  • but look at 4:16 through 4:20 ther are fish swimming !

  • i saw something but for once it was more at 4 09 but i saw something right below the surface

  • there were no fish!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • look harder around the 4:10 mark in the video

  • thats awesome those were sunfish!!!! make another video of the submarine !!!!!!

  • yeah there were

  • how much did it cost for your rc sub and where can i get it????

  • dig through the other comments ... already asked and answered
