i played the np 30 KEYBOARD and thats the reason why i say its a keyboard and not a stage piano. you can not compare np 30 to a piano.. it has very very light keys..like every other cheap keyboad. it just looks like a piano and good piano keys... so dont be blinded... .. but for boring days its okay...but not for people who want to learn piano, i am happy that i went to a shop and played it

No sè si me explico.
Para lo que yo busco es perfecto: liviano, 4 sonidos de piano que pueden combinarse, touch, speakers, midi y audio out.
If anyone who owns it can tell me: can u make an expression on this piano? i mean, are keys rather light or heavy? i would be grateful if u could compare it to some more expensive digital piano of yamaha
I like Casio CDP-100, but I think it's too expensive. This is cheaper, but I read about this problem in high frecuences, and with unweighted keys, and I'm not sure.
Could anyone recommend me some of this pianos, or another one?
I almost bought this keyboard, it is very cheap , the only problem is that there isn't weight in the keys, the keys aren't smi-weigted or weighted, but I loved this piano.
mine came todsy. Before it came i was worried because it wasn't weighted but it doesn't have that shitty plastic-y feel :). It still feels pretty good and slightly weighted. Very good buy for something you just wanna jam and practise with
No one would buy it if it wasn't velocity sensitive. The whole point is that it brings a decent likeness of a real piano to one's home, for a low price. It's not a toy-yet not much more expensive than one! I can't wait to make it mine.

Yeah its the L2C made by Yamaha, it screws into the NP-30 making for a very stable stand. However they are expensive compared to your conventional iron board stand.
I've lugged around almost every monster (including an acoustic piano!) on over 35 years of gigs! Am trying one of these at this price as so many city centre hotels do not have close by car parking, lots of stairs and tiny stages! Will let you know Mr Baartmans! (LOL).
I never said he didn't say it had 76, I said 88 because typically that's what most people want in a digital grand piano.
My comment had nothing to do with the guy in the video or whether I watched the whole thing, it was a comment concerning digital grands in general and a statement about what you should be looking for in a piano - or at least what I want.
Its sad I have to explain this, its also sad my original comment got a thumbs down. Yeah it was sooo over the top and wrong. lol
i just bought one yesterday. it buzzes. i discovered the buzz coming from where the two plastic halves join in the back. i press on it, and the buzz stops. i'm taking it back. maybe for a exchange. i'll see.
Bought one last week and absolutely NO buzzing sounds from the speakers. I've had my ear RIGHT up to the speakers and there's nothing but clear piano sound. The speakers are OK, but nothing amazing. Sounds SO much better listening through a quality pair of headphones.
i think im getting it, for the price the sound is amazing i did alot of research i know it has its problems but the grandpiano is so clear doesn't sound as muffled as some other digitals. im just going to get a pedal and hook it up to a pa system
Dang! I too was on the verge of buying one of these online - does anyone know the state of play now (july 2008) re the noise problem? Are new models being checked/fixed before shipping to retailers? What's the key action like? Does it feel more like a keyboard or a piano?
Love the sound, but I think I'll hold off on getting one until Yamaha fixes these problems. I've heard way too much about the issues this thing has to even consider it now. I might end up spending a little more and get one of the Casio Privias.
Damn I was going to buy one of these - I guess research does pay off. I wonder when it will be "safe" to buy one? I am in UK and was really excited at the thought of a cheap but quality piano substitute - I won't say what I did to my "real " piano as it may upset some listeners!
I can confirm I've had the same problem with hum/buzz/noise on a few keys just below middle C. (All other keys are fine and the problem only exists if the volume is not at full.) I have bought two units in the UK c. December 2007 and both exhibited this fault.

This is a global problem affecting NP's everywhere. I pick mine up today! It went in for the warranty repair to fix this issue. I'm going to speak with the tech and find out exactly what the problem was.
My NP-30 has been repaired, and it's much better now. The noise isn't completely gone, but Yamaha has somehow managed to cut it back and cut it back big time too. I would say mine is cut back by over 95% compared to what it was like when I brought it in for repair
Damn I really wanted to buy this baby sooner rather than later ... Did yamaha publish information about this issue and perhaps more importantly did they mention which 'batch' of serial numbers were affected by the hardware bug (if, as you say, not all units have the defect) ?
I took my unit in today for a warranty repair. I tested the unit in his store and it had the same issue. Send me a private message and I'll go more into detail about the problem.
SqueakD on other sites you give this baby rave reviews, are you now saying don't tbuy this keyboard until Yamaha address these issues or do you think the problem you are experiencing may be just an issue on your particular keyboard? I really must try one of these when i can to see if their is a hiss issue on the higher keys.
It's touch and go man. My initial review on the sound, keyfeel, ect still stand, and I think the NP-30 is a very nice affordable digital. However, there is a problem that has affected (what appears) to be some units, and not all. Mine is scheduled for repair for this problem.
Folks, beware of this model as it has a serious design flaw. I reported the problem over a month ago, and still have yet to hear from Yamaha regarding a solution. Buyer beware.., several keys have a very annoying hissing and static noise.
I bought the np30 (in Italy) and I found the same problems.I have replaced it but also the second had high frequency noises between keys f2-b2.I wrote to yamaha-europe but they don't know this problem!
Contact Yamaha again. The problem has been identified by Yamaha Japan. They shipped parts here to the USA to fix mine under warranty, so it's clearly a hardware issue. Again, contact Yamaha and push them on the issue. Let them know that Yamaha USA is repairing these units.
Yes, it's "Lament - The Most Absolutely Lamest Song Ever" a.k.a. "When U Sob, I Cringe", from the movie " The leaves are fallin". It's played during a scene where the protagonist, Lou V. Hertz, is walking through Central Park reminiscing about his dear old cat, who was killed by an infection from a squirrel bite at the very same location some ten years ago.
I have the NP-30, great key feel, good sounds. However, there's a problem with high frequency noise on a few keys. Yamaha confirmed this and is looking into it. Mine is just used as a midi controller now due to this noise issue--it's very annoying. Thankfully Steve Deming at Yamaha is on it:)

I own this nice keyboard.
Try to play it in a shop. I understood when someone say "light" I think "heavy" or vice versa.
It has touch response and graded keyboard like acoustic piano. Whatever it's lighter than heavy.

They are not weighted, but have some sort of mechanic resistance that amost feels like a weighted key.
