  • This is a good example of irony

  • The misogyny in here is delicious, enjoy your lives virgins.

  • Go Travis! He had the stones to confront her. However, the moment that Albert Brook's character put his hands on Travis, Travis should have kicked his mangina ass and called it self defense.

  • @IrIsHBoI97 He's not pathetic because he's not wrong. There are women who are like what he said. You've seen it. I've seen it. It's all over the damn world. You know women and men like that exist. The only thing is not all women and men are like that. Not all men are pussy whipped sex addicts. Not all women are gold diggers/whores but there are some foul people out there and to deny it would be foolish. Just like denying there are good people out there is foolish as well.

  • To be fair , not all women are cold and icy like Betsy.

  • Great Film. One of the best scenes is at the very end when Betsy tries to crawl back. She even wants to apologize but doesn't. She asks Travis how much the ride costs and he doesn't even accept the money. He smiles and drives away. It means that Travis wasn't a bad person. He was going insane by the sick environment and its people. Including Betsy. All he wanted was love and if not that, a friend. Perfect example of a society. its fucked, greedy and egocentrical.

  • Travis gave the courage to walk up to a girl and ask her out.....

  • I love how Travis just easily avoids the police constantly in this movie.

  • by modern man I mean all those creatures in the magazines and on MTV. They're copied by all those hollow idiots around the world.

  • that clown with glasses and twig is her pussy slave. Being neither man nor woman, he's a good example of the modern man.

By the way he's a pretty lucky character here in the movie, in real Travis would have killed him before police arrives..

  • @NewRenoBoxing lmao. well said. I always hoped Travis would've caught up with him later on and killed him...

  • I had apple pie with a slice of melted yellow cheese. I thought that was a good selection. She had a fruit salad dish. She could have had anything she wanted.

  • Women are like fishing lines, they reel men in, when they're done with them, they cut the chord and start all over again. Its sad, personally I don't like women, I'm not gay either, I think its fucked how women and men have lust toward each other. Women reproduce and literally shit fetus's out of there vagina's, its disgusting. They also shed blood, can hold air in their vagina's and fart from it. That's fucking disgusting.

  • @pyrosheen HAHAHA!

  • @pyrosheen I fully agree, I too dislike women but am completely hetero. Seems to be a growing contingent of men who feel the same way.

  • @pyrosheen I'd say men and women alike are very grotesque. We are all like "the others."

  • @pyrosheen you must realy love your mom

  • He's so right at the end..they travel in packs

  • What name did Deniro give to the cop as an alias?

  • @Robynkimwhite Jamal Patterson

  • @Robynkimwhite Henry Krinkle I believe.

  • Ah Travis, your psychotic-streak aside, I'd totally go out with you! I'd even sit in them grungy porn theatres with you if you wanted!

  • I feel you Travis.

All bitches do is disapoint us.

  • @bbasher79 and the 79 misogynists: women are not "all whores", have you no mothers, have you no decency?

  • @rblodget When a mother treats a father like shit i'd call her a whore even if shes my mother. A god damn whore!

  • I went through an almost similar scenario with a cashier from Best Buy. The difference is that we never went out. She gave me her number and told me to call her over the weekend. My calls went to voicemail. I told her about it, she said to call over the weekend again. Same thing happened!!! The next week when I went into Best Buy and walk up to her counter, she took a bathroom break when she saw me and let someone else take care of me. I realized then how much she's just like the others.

  • @jheadSF06 .....cold and distant

  • @jheadSF06 Yeah man, that shit happens so often. I can relate completely

  • @SeekTheTruth12 -Travis was certainly a study in contrasts

  • I understand exactly how he feels, because this happened to me in my 20s, more than once. But she has a point of view too. You can understand why she wouldn't want to go out with him after the way he acted. He acted like an ignorant, low-class loser, not right for a girl like her at all. She wasn't cruel to him. When he called her at first, she talked to him and tried to put him off in a painless way. Any savvy guy would have taken the hint and stopped calling. He's weird. He scared her.

  • The guy who escorted him out looks like a skinny, '70s-styled Seth Rogen. :P

  • this movie is awesome!love it.it was badass when he did that karate pose."hands off!"awesome.

  • Betsy was a whore, remember the scene when, she says: "you're gonna be my friend", she looks like a horny bitch.

  • omg i wish he would have beat the shit outa that guy with glasses would have made this scene perfect

  • women there like a union lol

  • @orgasmicide2 Hehe. Thanks.

  • felt like this before....

    guns on deck!

  • sometimes I feel like Taxi Driver was made for me, even if I was born well after the film's release. Of all movies I've ever seen, this one truly speaks to my soul. I'm God's lonely man.

  • My favorite films are Taxi Driver and..

    Fight Club.

    The Dark Knight.

    Inception.

    Se7en.

    Full Metal Jacket.

    And A Clockwork Orange.

  • Travis: take your hands off.....HANDS OFF!!!! LOL

  • the worlds morality sucks now, if god is gonna come regulate i bet its gonna be soon.

  • He is really a normal, conservative male, but you have to be some kind on metrosexual freak, to be accepted to this unnatural society of ours.

  • after being in war a man may not change, but after a vicious personal gun fight with 1 particular person will make you a different breed.

  • @jaredleospirit i read since he had psychological troubles he lied about being in the war.....and the ending while driving Betsey he imagined that go look it up at IMDb

  • all women love to slag men off and fuck you over if they can

  • I first saw this when I was 17. I'm 26 now, the same age as Travis, and each year I sympathize with him more and more.

  • @YahtzeeNazi Empathise or Sympathise?

  • @YahtzeeNazi travis bickle is 33 same age as the actor portraying him..

  • @dmohr7 Nope. He says in the opening scene that he's 26.

  • @YahtzeeNazi oh really? shit must mistake then , yeah usually they base the age within the same as the actor

  • women suck

  • All womens are bitches, except my mom and my sister, but they are womens too...!

  • I love that Bruce Lee stance Bickle does at 0:26

  • "You're in a hell. You're gonna die in a hell just like the rest of them!"

  • People that blindly follow society are crazy.

  • @Wes561 Brilliant revelation of Forbidden Truth there. Fantastic.

  • Taxi Driver was a very innocent and noble character who couldn't see his own dark side.

  • All women give us the run around, wether it goes somewhere or not. Their all self absorbed whores.

  • It's summer, I'm 17 - and I haven't met up with anyone over the holidays and it's driving me nuts, I've never had a relationship and I feel like Travis. Something needs to be done with the scum around here.

  • "Take your hands off me!"

    "TAKE THEM OFF!"

    Great moment.

  • perfect scene :)

  • cold and distant....

  • heartbreaking.

  • women are all whores.

  • @bbasher79 did you have problems saw your post on the lforms man just don't go crazy and choke a b you need to get laid.

  • @bbasher79 men are all whores too.

  • @meleethe13 I agree and I am a woman. The human race is a whore, its says so in the Bible, we worship devils

  • @caliopie45 because if the bible says it, then it must me true.

  • @omxpablo19 Upon your death you will learn the truth and all these comments wont matter at all

  • @caliopie45 And santa won't leave me presents on christmas if I'm a bad boy. yaya, heard it all before. I'm sorry I don't adhere to something so dogmatically like you do.

  • @caliopie45 And santa won't leave me presents on christmas if I'm a bad boy. yaya, heard it all before. I'm sorry I don't adhere to something so dogmatically like you do.

  • @bbasher79 I agree and I am a woman

  • @bbasher79 Not my mother.

  • @bbasher79 I wish. Only a small portion of them are D:

  • @bbasher79 they're gonna die in hell just liek the rest of them!

  • @bbasher79 So are men.

  • Another thing is that we never really saw Betsy's reactions to Travis's words. I could tell she was upset and scared but I wish I saw her face as well. She does have beautiful eyes.

  • I think it's much easier being an anti social nowadays than 35 years ago when this movie was made. Now anti socials can pass time on the internet, playing video games, etc. Back then what did Travis have to do? Basically watch TV with like 10 channels. No wonder he went crazy.

  • This is one of my fav scenes of a great movie. I find it interesting how the lady screams and something gets broken as he walks out the door. I figure she was scared of Travis since someone was calling for a policeman for help because of him. I dunno how something (probably the glass of the door) broke. but I like this scene because Travis finally gets to give Besty a piece of his mind after being ignored. Oh how satisfying that would be! He wanted closure and he definately got it.

  • I realize now how much she's just like the others, cold and distant, and many people are like that, women for sure, they're like a union.

  • Love ALbert brooks in this scene.

  • of course hes racist. everytime a black person is focused on its in a negative way. the "passenger" (since that guy kind of represented his own inner angst) in his taxi calls a black person a derogatory name. he focuses on the black men in the diner and they look at him w. hostility.

he's a great character, but hes somewhat racist.

  • He didn't look at those men in the diner with hostility because they were black, he looked at them that way because they were pimps. They were scumbags who deserve a lot more than a rude stare.

  • I agree with you, I have no idea why you were receiving thumbs down. The film, "Taxi Driver", isn't racist but because it is told by the perspective of a racist, it seems that way. I think Travis being a racist adds to the great plot and characterization of Bickle to show how the character was affected by the setting, the inner city.

  • travis would of fucken crushed that prick if he got a chance to throw some fists

  • Not with those skinny "Get Away Sticks"

  • I've been in this situation and have handled it similary its not until later i think about the consquences, I"m From Jersey, work over nights and I haven't had a woman in years and i'm in my mid 20s i really relate to this guy so well in fact I scare myself.

  • Get ready boy, 3 years from now you will be in Travis's age, be same :-)

  • lol got to love his fight stance lol

  • Cold, and distant..

  • He's NOT given a SECOND chance !!!!No AMERICAN DREAM FOR SOME the poor ,the lonely, the

    abandoned....

  • At 0:08 I've seen that look on a girl's face before and it hurts. In a more bittersweet way, the look in her eyes at he VERY END of the film washes away the guilt and shame Travis had for putting her/himself though this. If you liked Taxi Driver check out these films too. They are full of nuances that make them better with multiple viewings. Pulp Fiction Silence Of The Lambs Apocalypse Now The Graduate A Clockwork Orange Edward Scissorhands BATMAN (89) Bram Stokers Dracula
  • i never thought someone had the same interests in films loke me well done

  • @EdwarioERS why Batman from 89??

  • @EdwarioERS Good list except for Batman (1989). I think its a very flawed, mediocre children's movie. The Dark Knight is a much better film and a cinematic achievement in every sence. Also check these films out if you want to see something great: Chinatown, Blue Velvet, Oldboy, Deer Hunter, The Good The Bad & The Ugly, Jacob's Ladder, Memento, City of God, Pan's Labyrinth, Don't Look Now, Vertigo, Se7en, American History X, Fargo, V For Vendetta, Sisters (1973), Reservior Dogs, Rosemarys Baby.

  • @KevsHardLemonade

Pan's Labrynth sucks, and Reservoir Dogs is a straight up rip off of two other films.

  • @KevsHardLemonade

Oh, and The Dark Knight is the most hideously overrated film ever.

  • Comment removed

  • @KevsHardLemonade

Batman 89, Beetlejuice and Pee Wee's Big Adventure are all a big deal to me. I didn't see the true humor in Batman until I was an adult; the reaction shots of everyone while Joker did his antics are amazing. The same way I laugh at Taxi Driver, I laugh at Batman. I've never seen Oldboy, Don't Look Now and Sisters from your list; I will netflix.

When I hear people call Batman 89 flawed I don't get it. Did they adapt the comics wrong? I also like Keaton not growling as Batman

  • @EdwarioERS THANK YOU good chap.

  • @EdwarioERS Well yeah because in the history of the comics, Batman was never a murdering, short, scrawny guy who wears reading glasses, has a receding afro, and whispers sensually to villains. Thats just one of many things wrong with it.

  • @KevsHardLemonade well of course '89 Batman was kid friendly because at that time most ppl associated Batman with the campy '60s series so some of that element had to be incorporated. Tim Burton did a fine job of making the kind of film he needed to for that time. There's no way they could have made a film like The Dark Knight in '89 because it would have alienated the casual fan which is the audience that they were targeting.

  • @drlove1972 As I said to KevsHardLemonade, where do you people got the idea that Batman 89 was kid friendly? It was geared toward adults. Look at the dark humor and the violence in that film. Batman 89 actually showed people getting killed a lot vs. TDK which didn't.

  • @IncredibleFulk1 not sure who are these "you people" to whom you refer. Just because a film depicts death doesn't automatically disqualify it from being kid friendly, it all depends on the intensity in which it is displayed. Lion King, Bambi and countless other kids' films all depict death. Even if Dark Knight had less killing it was far more graphic. Big difference between showing Rachel engulfed in flames as she's blown up and Jack's Joker gleefully firing upon Grissom from different angles.

  • Comment removed

  • @drlove1972 I'm not trying to some a-hole. But Batman 89 is NOT a kids film by any means! Kids that I knew were actually scared of it. I was kinda too as a kid. How can you compare Dinsey films to Batman 89? Yes they had death, but they weren't violent death scenes and those films didn't have a character going around killing people and taking joy into it. Both Batman 89 and TDK should be looked at as equals rather than fanboys arguing which one is better. This is going to be my last response.

  • @IncredibleFulk1 I wasn't comparing Batman to a Disney film, that's you reading what you want into my comments. I only mentioned those films to make the point once again that many films include death scenes but it's the INTENSITY and how the scene is handled that makes all the difference. And I'd like for you to point out to me where I ever said that either Batman film was better than the other. I've always maintained that it's an apples to oranges comparison. Two totally different films.

  • @drlove1972 What about a the feather pen in the guy's neck? Or the man joker burns alive with his buzzer with a charred corpse after? Or Joker's girlfriend's burnt face? Or what about blood in the shooting scene Or even the dead bodies with smiles? Or Viki's photo's with dead bodies. Or people falling to their deaths? I also forgot to mention there were plenty of dark Jokes like "Never rub another man's rubar." and more Why don't you watch James Rolfe's Batman reviews?

  • @IncredibleFulk1 what about a grotesquely disfigured man with a portion of his skull showing? Or a judge being blown to bits in her car, 3 men being shot to death within the first 10 min. of the film? A man being impaled to death from a pencil? Bruce having his flesh ripped by a vicious dog and having it stitched, or being beaten savagely with a pipe just to name a few. TDK came within a hair of drawing an R rating for a reason.

  • @IncredibleFulk1 and oh, not to mention the commissioner being poisoned with some form of lethal acid

  • @IncredibleFulk1 in addition to a bloody corpse dangling from a noose outside the window

  • @KevsHardLemonade Ok, it's your opinon on which Batman film is better. But where do you get the idea of Batman 89 being a kids film? It had dark humor- joker's jokes about people dying, scary images- the dead bodies with smiles and joker scaring vikki with the washed off make up (scared me as a kid) violences- a man burning, pen in neck, blood, and adult jokes-"Never rub another man's robar." That makes for a real kids film. TDK didn't even show the kills. I'm not trying to be an a-hole.

  • "You're in a hell, and you're going to die in a hell, like the rest of them. You're like the rest of them."

Truer lines have rarely been uttered in cinema.

It's really a powerful and sad scene, the point where Bickle gives up hope of being "normal".

  • ur an idiot thats why

  • just dont see the movie abouts "idiots". go see scary movie

  • you are mistaking me with somebody else

  • This is every relationship I've ever had in a nutshell.

  • he is so awesome in this...

  • many people are like that...woman for sure...they are like a union! he doesnt say onion lol

  • Hes not crazy hes just lonely; it doesn't make him crazy. Maybe anti social, but not crazy.

  • He has a personality disorder, I heard.

  • If he had a better understanding of how most woman are ashamed and repulsed by pornography this wouldn't have happened.... as fast. He's almost innocent as he believes a porno would be a good date before any kind of sexual contact with a lady.

Travis does have a personality disorder. Remember when he kept bringing up Albert Brooks when they went on their first date, that was a red flag in my eyes.

Poor Travis, what he really needed was cable tv, an x box and a PC stashed with porn.

  • Does any man really have a true understanding of how woman really are ? The answer is most likely "NO" just because he took a chick to a porn flick doesn't mean he has a personality disorder. He just doesn't know any better.

  • What are you talking about.every time i hear this thing about porn

we 've been living in a porn era !!From the 70 's!A lonely man who's an insomniac becomes a workaholic can"t find stability cause he's sexually ,morally, emotionaly frustrated!

what else do you think he should do!show him his the PERFECT guy like every God damn perfect date is ..the cheating ,the lies..He made a mistake but Betty never forgives him that's the problem.

  • @EdwarioERS no he needed someone to love him moron.....

  • @romans52345

About Batman 89, there's all kinds of odd nuances that I've picked up on. When Joker pulls out his yard long barreled handgun from his trousers to shoot down the batwing, batman has a bizarre reaction on his face. The long barrel is phallic, which makes it seem he carries it around with him to make up for an insecure penis. IDK Joker was stalking Viki when I was 5, but now Joker's antics are hilarious in that movie. In similar ways Travis's social encounters make TD a comedy.

  • @romans52345

Another thing about BATMAN 89. Look at the relationship Albert Brooks and Cybill Shepherd have in Taxi Driver, NOW look at Robert Wuhl and Kim Basinger. The office atmosphere is identical.

What Travis REALLY needed was an iPhone, a netflix subscription, a gym membership and a pet tabby cat...... please these things can only suffice and distract an absence of love -- we all get it -- so don't be trollin' my suggestions.

Google tabby cat, you may be amused.

  • @EdwarioERS Google? GOO GLE??? Can somebody tell me what kind of a world we live in where a Gle dressed up as a Goo? Gets all of my press...THIS SITE NEEDS AN ENEMA!!!!!

  • No, he's a schizoid.

Just look at the signs of schizoids. His loneliness is in fact brought on by his personality disorder, as schizoids are naturally as cold and distant as he is.

  • Paranoid scheziophrenic ! I think that's a little bit over board, just because he's lonely doesn't make him crazy I don't think you really understood the movie, most people don't.

  • What are you talking about?

I never called him a paranoid schizophrenic. I called him a schizoid! They are completely and utterly different.

I agree I don't and it's seems neither do you. It's a complex film with many layers.

The simplest analysis I've heard is that it's about the fact that Travis is constantly stopping himself from escaping his loneliness through his constant contradictions.

  • What's your idea of a personality disorder ? Loneliness is a common human condition everybody deals with it at some point are another, this film is a cult classic usually people who are superficial and lack substance are often unsettled by travis bickle, alot of men understand were travis is coming from if you don't get it, you just don't get it. Like I said before, lonely doesn't mean crazy if you didn't understand the film there's know sense in trying to figure Travis out.

  • What on earth are you talking about. He's a racist, aswell as a psychopath.

People can be lonely and depressed but that not alot of them go crazy and kill someone.

And don't give me the whole "He was just trying to kill the bad people" bullshit because that sort of thing misses out on the irony of the film completely.

Up to a point I can empathise with Travis but you cannnot tell me he is a level-headed person or else you are being completely idiotic and making no sense.

  • The bottom line is this movie is outside the realm of your "MTV Cribs, American IDOL", ADD generation the point is alot of people see Travis point of view, sometimes the answer to a problem isn't the one you always want to hear, when travis killed all those low lifes, you probably saw that as wrong but sub-contentiously that's something everbody wants to do at some point are another, travis just acted on it that's why this film unsettles people until today.

  • Don't treat me like an idiot when you're saying things like "non-contentiously".

And maybe so but a normal person would be able to control those emotions. And let's face it, he was originally going to kill Palantine: is that ordinairy.

He was also about to kill the police officer who told him to move.

Is that something you can relate to?

  • Sub-consenciously alot of people feel the same way as travis, I'm not saying I promote what he did, but I do relate to it sub-consenciously, like I said the reason this film unsettles and fascinates is because travis acted on his sub-conscencious, I personelly wouldn't do what Travis did, all I'm saying is I understand.

  • in contrary to your argument, i add my review - travis has a pesimistic persona of character. he has a better pov of the world and thus making your argument [psychopath] incorrect in a whole lot of levels. travis wished to "wash all the scum off these streets" thus suggesting that he has a better understanding of moral and ethics; that alone can explain the rest why you are wrong.

as for your argument out of him being racist, any evidence to back your point?

  • Who are you, Mahmada Ghandi?

Killing bad people is right, and please don't start with those "we are all beautiful human beings" bullshits.

  • it's Mahatma Gandhi

  • Dude I'm with DIJV79 all the way if you don't understand were Travis Bickle was coming from psychologically then you don't get the whole point of the movie..ima explain to you, look people are like wolves they choose to be with the pack so they wont get ripped apart. So what happens to the Loner? that's why Travis is saying "you are like the rest of them".

  • Look, I get where you're coming from, but neither of you are commending the complex ideas that are in this film.

And she has the right to dump him and be put off. I'm sorry, but taking a girl out to a porn theatre for a date is very strange behaviour. And according to the script his intentions in doing so were not as innocent as people think

All I'm saying is you are making the whole thing out to be far more simple that I think it is.

  • Yea it was kinda creepy.

  • you're right, it was 'the wrong move' of him taking betsy to a porn theatre, in all just to pass accross his point of view of what the street is like, and since betsy works for palintine, he decided to make connections in hopes of passing accross his message. his plans were shy, putting the execution to decripit.

  • @iamhisou you must be a woman.....

  • @DIJV79 Anti social is used to describe a personality disorder that serial killers have. Misanthropic and lonely would much better describe Travis's condition. Sure he goes on a killing spree, and that might seem pretty serial-killer-ish, but it's to free a 12 year old prostitute.

  • @mybeardiskool Anti social does not determine mental are social ability to function regardless of opinion, anybody can be considered anti social in any situation or circumstance, but it does not determine mental illness our the ability to function.

  • @DIJV79 look up anti social personality disorder

  • @mybeardiskool Whats a personality disorder? What determines a personality disorder?

  • Agreed,Serial killers are sociopaths that have high IQs and they often plan their crimes quite methodically, usually abducting victims, killing them in one place and disposing of them in another. There's a sexual element in their killings! Killing sprees are more from mass murderes, not serial killers.Travis suffers more from schizotypal personaility disorder, depression, insomnia along with post traumatic stress disorder he more than likely got in the war. He's not mass murderer or serial killer!

  • @DIJV79 He's not crazy? Ummm...yeah he is. Antisocial to the point of being crazy.

  • @DIJV79 But when you're as anti social as him, you lose touch with society i.e reality? So you might not be crazy, but you are definetly bordeline based on society's terms since you're completly out of it.

They define being crazy as somebody who's a danger to himself and/or others and who's unaware of this or unable to control his lethal impulsions.

Based on this we could say Travis was a little coocoo

  • @figthersdreams he's a little coocoo... but in this particular situation thing are a little diferent... she never gave him a second chance to get to know him better... and he was truthful the whole time, so truthful that he didn't even realized that she just might not like porn movies, especially in the first date... he's a little coocoo for sure... but "common society people" run away on the first "unlikable" thing they see on someone else.

  • @figthersdreams "Common people" run away blindly from the things that they don't know, thinking they know it all, being afraid of almost everything that's beyond their control. The guys that f**ked Iris were probably married and had sons/daughters and their families didn't had a clue they we+re doing it... TRAVIS took Betsy on the very first date to a porn movie cause that was natural to him and he was sincere but he despised what was happening to Iris...

  • @figthersdreams WHO'S THE COOCOO HERE?! i'd like to go for travis, really... but the "normal nice" people are usually the worst human beings walking on this planet, being, hiding everything and commiting real mean abuses to other living beings. KEEP IT TRUE! and stay clean...

  • @viegaz. Okay most of the things you say is true. So what? I can feel Travis loneliness, it often hurts and poisons you but are you gonna go up with guns and try to turn the world around by killing people? Is this ' Righteous' killing?

What tells you that the pimp didn't deserve a shot at redemption?

Is Travis God? You know what I mean? ;)

He's clearly delusional in his own way, a la Holden Caufield in ' The Catcher in the Rye' ( Which is my favorite book, and taxi driver my fav movie)

  • @viegaz When you can't acknowledge or don't even see any of the elements you mentioned even if it's bullshit ( society condionning, societal commodities etc.) then you're out of it.

Why would Betsy an attractive women would give a 2nd chance to a guy she just met who's clearly out of it?

I don't give second chance to women who completly fucked up on the 1rst date, and I'm a guy and I'm wise. It just won't work
