  • So the people in the triangle had no choice but to either die in the fire or jump out the window.(Just like in the towers of the WTC) The triangle shirtwaist was the worst fires in new york history before what occured with the world trade center. Notice if you mix up the numbers of the year from when the triangle shirtwaist had occurded you come up with 1911....9/11/1 weird how the 2 fire disasters in history in new york had a connection with the Triangle year and the WTC terrorist attack date.

  • there are loads of things coinciding with 2001 "terrorist" attack , Triangle , Women origins , 147 victims , 1911 etc etc , waisted lives again ...

  • This is a disgusting and tasteless video of an American tragedy. Terrible song choice, especially for what you're trying to reenact.

  • @bandgeek2560 Those were my thoughts as well - couldn't watch past the first 30 seconds.

  • Poor guy at 10:54 looks like he was trying to get back on

  • i read a book got LOST BY JACQUELINE DAVIES and it talks about a girl that was actually involved in that fire

its a pretty good book you should read it

  • it's amazing to me how these people do not get out of the way or stop to give plenty of room to the emergency vehicles. East coast versus West coast I guess.

  • my cousin is now a firemen at that station ladder 117

  • This disaster must be commemorated in the stone and iron of New York City. The fact that the women who perished in the oven of the Triangle Shirtwaist Company have not yet been sufficiently memorialized is a disgrace. This city must create a timeless memorial to the incinerated and fallen victims as a lesson to all of the consequences of vicious greed and unearned power in the hands of the heartless.

  • i agree this fire became the start of the OSHA and fire prevention laws that are still in effect today

  • This is an...interesting clip (documentary). Too bad its riddled with pretentious recordings and the stupid rock music in the beginning (tasteless). Cute though, nice try.

  • the owners LOCKED the door and wouldn't let them out untill they were finished and reached their quota

  • Actually they kept the doors locked routinely to keep the girls/women at their seats and to keep them from stealing. The owners were tried for manslaughter but aquitted. There was a documentary (about psychics) where psychic John Holland went to the building (still there).

  • um you are re enacting radio transmissions of emergency services from the triangle fire, except for the fact that two way radio didnt exist in 1911, the first truly operable one wasnt developed until 1923, nice try though

  • I'm learning about this in my 8th grade s.s class o-o

And teacher said that the workers got locked inside because the owners didn't trust them... or something like that.

    o_e

that's why they were trapped. :T

  • does anyone know how the triangle shritwaist factory started and why all of the workers were trapped inside

  • anyone have information on Hannah Gallo?? also called Anna Gallo? or Hannah Gullo? or Anna Gullo?

I can't find any info on her... we're doing a mock trial and I'm her and..... I NEED HELP! ah!

  • Dose anyone else think its kinda wierd that it happend on 1911? I knowticed that and was a little spooked haha

  • Deaths- 146

    Date - March 25th 1911

Problem - people say a ciggerate landed in a pile of shirtwaists and started a fire, the doros were locked, well some were open but they needed to be pulled in not out so the girls never knew that, the elevator stopped working after a couple of trips up and down

  • thats not the real footage of the Triangle Fire is it? Did they even have cameras back then?

  • Its not real footage of the fire, but the footage you see is from 1908 and is of the FDNY. You should read up on Thomas Edison and his invention of the motion picture camera.

  • I figured it wasn't real footage of the fire. I think you have your inventors wrong, it was Lumiere. In 1895, Lumiere and his brother were the first to present projected, moving, photographic, pictures to a paying audience of more that one person. Edison gets far too much credit than he deserves, lol. I know he "improved" the technique. In 1891, the Edison company successfully demonstrated the Kinetoscope, which enabled one person at a time to view moving pictures.

  • very informative! Well done video. TY

  • I have pictures of this and when the Chinese that were already rescued were asked, they all pointed like in that shot of those just after Martin Luther King was shot, causing the hair on my neck to stand up.

Picture ran in the NY Post.

To get back to the topic, my wife works in a place like the Trinagle, but she makes it sound more like the magazine in "Ugly Betty" than a factory. Lucky for me and her....

FDNY Best in the world and you know it.

  • L 117 was the house the guy used by Bush on the pile was from.

One day they made an amazing rescue that I told them to make. To this day I don't know what made me do what I did but it was a Chinese family overlooked in the searches that I demanded they go back and look again because I found an electronic address book in Chinese in the street

A comment someone made to me as I arrived caused me to think they were still inside and they were.

Airlifted to the hyperbaric chamber in the BX

  • Yeah the guy on the pile next to George Bush worked at TL117, his name is Bobby Beck.

  • Those poor women I've read a book about this tragic event at my libray. I also learned about it in Jr. high and high school.

  • To the US - NY Fire Men. All those with absolutely no intention of letting you through? Just ram them, back-up and ram them again. They will bloody learn to get out of the way eventually. Idiots almost had your response down to walking pace there.

  • I just learned about this in my History class today. It was so sad. Working conditions were horrible back then D:

  • What a tragedy. Awesome video. Great history lesson.

  • Great Footage nyfirebuff.

  • Actually, they locked the doors to prevent the workers from taking breaks on the job.

  • RIP to the victims of the 1911 triangle factory fire. My God continue to comfort the distant family members. And may there never be another atrocity like this ever again, due to human negligence.

  • why do you say that exfdny?. That doesn't sound very polite. Unless your from view point that all fire buffs and/or rubber neckers need life's then I can understand to some extent. Those who chase us to fires with scanner in hand, who gawk, get in the way, slow traffic up while watching from their car bug me to no end. Stay safe out there, God bless. Good video nyfirebuff .

  • I disagree to your opinion, to an extent. You see, some professional buffs like some I know along with myself know to stay out of the way, and make sure they don't slow down traffic. When I respond to a fire, I park 3-5 blocks away from the scene and stay behind the yellow tape and at least stay on the sidewalk.

  • FUCK YOU BITCH DIS IS SAD.

  • Great Job! You should be a fireman!

  • Well it is good to see that someone made a video about the Triangle Fire of 1911 Great Job!
