  • And as far as 'gracious'....check out a video of Sasha's program...Kwan barged out onto the ice and started cleaning up the flowers...God forbid that Sasha have her moment...which was more than worth the Bronze that Kwan took home.

  • @getrealandsee barging? I think sasha is the empress of barging...barging into skaters like michelle during practice, that is

  • @michiganisnotsoco Not true!

  • @getrealandsee then why keep on hiding behind an online username (and multiple accounts)? why don't you contact a reporter with your real identity and personal/professional details so you can tell them all about michelle's "evil crimes against humanity", that have warranted you to stalk her for 6 years?

  • Not that I was blasé about seeing the Olympic athletes up close, but my colleagues and I in press operations were going for our own gold medal—to deliver our best performances on the largest stage we would ever work. After all, the Olympics are bigger than any professional or college sporting event in the United States.

This is the gentleman who wrote the article...HE respects the magnitude of the Olympics!!

  • So, for all her babble and pr scripted philosophical talk this is the real deal no matter how you 'spin' it...then came Torino and another bunch of pr scripted baloney that only a dolt would buy into...paid off for her, of course but caused a NEED for vicious and hard core defenders. Even before that time a whole lot of experts had had a bellyful of Kwan..and those were just the ones who spoke out...this lol hung around way way too long and made a pathetic joke of herself and figure skating

  • @getrealandsee you speak of michelle's "crimes" as if she had murdered a baby..what's more frightening is your broken record of attacks on her. if one were to lay them out side by side with your name and picture next to it you'd probably suddenly get very sheepish. you psycho.

  • @michiganisnotsoco Nope...not even a tiny bit sheepish....Kwan should be embarrassed and ashamed to show her face in the skating world like 'oh well, I am Kwan....everything I do is ok no matter who it damages'....I am mentally very healthy:)

  • The day before her short program, Kwan came out for practice in a fancy, yellow dress, obviously to be worn in competition. Within the first five minutes of her practice, Kwan fell down twice. She immediately left the ice—a rarity—and came back dressed in her usual practice gear. We never saw the yellow dress again in practice or competition.

First Person John Arenberg.....this gentleman saw all of this first hand and the one who predicted that Kwan would get A medal ...Sasha's bronze.

  • During the two weeks, I had a chance to watch Kwan rehearse in near seclusion. Her body language, from the time she walked into the practice rink to the time she left, suggested someone in deep focus with a singular objective: Gold, and nothing less.

  • But I sensed she was wound too tight. There was a feeling that everything had to be just right; anything unexpected threw her off her routine and left her rattled. That’s what happened the day a couple of volunteers approached her for autographs and pictures. Kwan signed one and then retreated back to the locker room where she hid out for a couple hours until the volunteers and media had dispersed.

  • This moment made me sad and I thought I lost faith in skating. I was happy Michelle has a strong faith in her sport to keep going and she kept me interested in watching it for a few years more after this. Miss you Michelle!

  • @1001icetea Why did this moment make you lose faith in skating?

  • @getrealandsee I really like Michelle. She was one of my role models growing up and I really really wanted her to win here but Sarah deserved it. Michelle is what Michelle is and there are those who like or dislike her. I know that you and others don't agree but to me and many others, she was a role model and a class act. I guess I was just disappointed Michelle lost. Anyway, have fun :)

  • Poor Michelle goes boom boom on her behind =(((( The sad violin solo that followed...the pouting...the look of SHOCK on her face... What happened to that goofy grin? It was there in the short program... hmm wait she couldn't get away with it here. Not here, not ever... Olympic GOLD is for true champions.

  • @allenglandlawns And it gives me great pleasure...I DO respect the Olympics!!! Since Kwan has no Olympic Gold medal the integrity and credibility of the Olympics hasn't been damaged too badly. Granted 2006 was a kick in the face of the Olympic Creed and the bronze was a bone but all in all the sanctity is safe. The Nats mean diddly squat...for too long the Nats were just the Michelle Kwan comedy fest...Yep...Olympic Gold is reserved for the true champions. And the Brits called it perfectly!!!

  • So, does anyone know what happened to that wonderful video...the tribute to the actual WINNER of these Olympics...with Jim McKay...tributes to that other skater are all over the place...what happened to the one on the Olympic Gold Medalist Sarah Hughes?

  • Oh man it was great to see that she screwed up BIG TIME again. Tara gave her the butt whipping of her life four years ago... and THIS is what she's learned since then? Same short, same simple jumps, firing her coach...BOOING her marks. What, she refuses to grow and move forward? And yet Sandra goes on to baby her..."she's got to remember she's respected." What? She showed ZERO respect to FS and the Olympics with her actions. Are we supposed to be THAT stupid to buy into that crap?

  • Gary Kamiya Golden girl

16-year-old Sarah Hughes, who looks like America's composite babysitter, shocks the figure-skating world -- and bails out the beleaguered Olympic judges.

  • If there is an Olympic Figure Skating Judges Image Rehabilitation Association, large toasts are being drunk there at this moment to Sarah Hughes. The 16-year-old from Great Neck, N.Y., performed such a monster program that even a judge under direct orders from Tony Soprano to get the fix in wouldn't have been able to throw this one.

  • @allengslandlawns, @getrealandsee: Shhh... take your meds. You're talking to yourself again. I promise I won't tell your nurse...

  • Hello, Tara Lipinski. Nice to see that there is SOMETHING that occupies your time. It must be so therapeutic for your injured ego (imagine, to have an OGM and still remain UNEMPLOYED all these years?) to create so many YT accounts just so you can bash Kwan in all her videos. I hope it helps you recover from the fact that your initials represent the (T)RUE (L)OSER that you are, ha ha ha!

  • SPORTS MEDIA; Skating Commentators Deserve Lowest Marks

    By RICHARD SANDOMIR

I have always gagged at 'courageous'..like other skaters would have run off the ice? Costly? Could be? and if it were any true competitor it WOULD have been costly...Kwan had to thankfully bite the ice..and the photographers were all over it...and Kwan lapped up the praise and accolades with that poor me look....where's that grin now Kwan?

  • The performance would be comedic if it were not a glaring example of how not to cover a sports event. Their preference for Michelle Kwan was obvious; Hamilton's incessant hedging about the impact of her mistakes on her score painted him a Kwan apologist. The attempt by Hamilton and Bezic to make a case for Kwan's courage in not giving up after she fell was laughably absurd.

  • Poor poor Shelly. Given a pity bronze (which belonged to Sasha) for screwing up the Olympics again despite all the help she could get from the judges. Kwan is a fake and will NEVER EVER wear the OGM.

  • As American Sasha Cohen began her final spins, Kwan went into her twitchy pre-ice routine, her arms snapping apart and together like a clothespin. She clapped briefly for Cohen, and then raced out onto the rink, deftly navigating through the toys and bouquets. The flower girls were gawking at Cohen, but Kwan snapped them back into duty, motioning for them to hurry up and gather all the goodies still littering the oval.

  • The USA was very very fortunate to have Sarah Hughes at these Olympics..she skated with courage, fire, grace...she held nothing back and was the pride of the Americans. SHE is what the Olympics are all about...SHE took all the chances...she carried the day! Thank you, Sarah! Sarah has now graduated from a prestigious college and rarely shows up for skating events..why would she? She came..she won...and she moved on with her life. She doesn't have to hang around ice rinks desperate for attention.

  • LOL Kwan thought she had the gold in the bag coming into this competition. She didn't up the ante, skated the same simple programs as last time around, and banked on the judges bias to give her the gold for wiggling and jiggling around. NOPE NOPE NOPE! =) The Kween disgraced herself and the REAL champion was recognized!!!

  • @allenglandlawns Why would Kwan think that she had the gold in the bag??? Look at what the judges did to her at the 2000-2001 Worlds prior to this...They gave her very low marks for perfect 7 triple performances (with a triple-triple) waiting for Irina to skate clean and gift her the gold. She skated a 7 triple performance and still lost in '98 (she wasn't her very best that night). She knew that she had to skate her best to win.

  • @allenglandlawns I think that she deserved to win the SP and beat Irina in the long (Kwan had 5 triples to Irina's 4). Kwan's artistry was also better than Irina's truly awful program. There to NO WAY that she disgraced herself here (she got up and landed 3 perfect triples after this). Oh, and a clean Kwan program would beat Sarah any day (her '98 skate would). Sarah had cheated jumps and poor posture. Sarah was VERY lucky that Kwan and Irina messed up...

  • Kwannie Kwashed to the Ice...poor Kwannie.....poor poor Kwannie....simple, low risk program with lots of wiggles, jiggles, arm waving, facial grimaces and she can't even pull it off...mistakes...downgrades...arrogant narcissist that she is she thought she had gold in the bag again...heh heh heh....ummm....Shelly, this isn't a powder puff competiton...this is the Olympics where REAL athletes and champions compete...up the ante to the max and GO FOR IT! They don't expect gold to be handed to them.

  • @getrealandsee You need to take a step back and look at YOURSELF before you judge others... You sound so self-righteous.

  • Even with all the inflated scores and assurance that all she had to do is to stay standing on an already easy program, she STILL managed to screw up. Kwan is an absolute joke to the sport, true athletes, and champions. She is all name, no game.

  • @allenglandlawns Amen to that!

  • Simple program with pretty waving arms. Sasha was a real athlete with gutsy moves and a gutsy performance here. Kwan crapped up on a rehashed, EASY program. All the top skaters TRY hard triple-triples and they too have truly athletic and artistic choreography. And for the Kwan fans, footwork here was simple too. And Irina deserved to beat Kwan in the lp because of sheer athleticism and artistry isn't just about looking pretty and graceful.

  • @allenglandlawns Irina's program was ATROCIOUS! What artistry? Irina landed five triples like Michelle. Michelle's artistry WAS always better than Irina's. Sasha was one of the very worst jumpers in figure skating history. A real athlete? When did Sasha ever give a seven triple performance at a major? Michelle did it many times with difficult choreography. Yes, this was one of Michelle's lesser programs (it was simplistic compared to her previous work), but it was still aesthetically pleasing.

  • @allenglandlawns Sasha only landed 4 triples to Michelle's 5 (Michelle landed 3 triples late in her program and she landed a more difficult combo).

  • And to really see justice done and the beauty of Sheherezade watch Kim Yuna! There truly is no comparison. Yes, it's a different era as the defenders of the Kwan scream but this program is dull, boring, simple, and hardly of Olympic caliber even at that time and place. There were some truly beautiful and courageous skaters in the era of the Kwan...they just got shafted. The Olympic Judges rock even though Sasha earned the bronze..they pitied Michelle so threw her a bone. Everyone KNOWS that!

  • @getrealandsee YUCK! I HATED Kim Yuna's "artistry" in her version. You can really tell that she was inspired by Michelle (check out where she hits that spiral at the same beat of the music, and her ending pose is just like Michelle's). I found Yuna's artistry very melodramatic and pretentious. Why does she always bend over where her arms touch the ice and open her mouth? She does that over and over. Her program was a sloppy mess!

  • @Karosanyo oh plz, don't even compare Yuna and Michelle's programs. Kwan's program was so simple and risk free while Yuna pushed the sport to higher athletic AND artistic levels. And of course, Yuna had ALL the pressure in the world at the olympics (her OWN country was willing to turn their backs on her if she failed) and delivered when it counted like a TRUE champion and didn't hold back AT ALL. Michelle skated like a scared cat TWICE with simple and DOWNGRADED programs.

  • @allenglandlawns Yuna's Sheherazade is an abomination. That program is pure garbage. Michelle's Sheherazade is a mediocrity (far from her previous masterworks) but at least I found it aesthetically pleasing. Yuna's was an eye sore. I find Yuna's artistry pretentious because it looks so forced and tedious. Yuna never pushed the sport to higher athletic or artistic levels. Yuna has stated many, many times how influential Michelle's artistry was to her.

  • @allenglandlawns I can see her influence on other skaters as well. Yuna's artistry was never innovative like many of Michelle's programs. Michelle is the best artistic skater of all time. Many of her programs look like the music was scored just for her programs (she was highly musical). Yuna is a great jumper when she's on but it's not like she was the first one to do triple-triples. Yuna is also very inconsistent. The only time that she did a clean LP was at the Olympics.

  • @allenglandlawns She truly did hit her all time peak at the Olympics. She was very lucky. When does Michelle stick her legs in the air and open her mouth? Michelle at her best put Yuna's artistry to shame. I'll take a 7 triple Kwan performance over Yuna's any day. Michelle has also done a lot more 7 triple performances than Yuna (Yuna doesn't even do a triple loop). Yes, Yuna's triple-triples are big and awesome, but I feel that's the only thing that she had going for her...

  • @Karosanyo OH MY GOD. Who cares if Yuna did it once. She did it when it counted AND with all that added pressure to boot. And please, Kwan couldn't even skate like Yuna in her dreams. Just as long as the Kwan skated kinda clean, EASY programs with that pretty SPIRAL (smiling with leg in air) give her medal anyway! Yuna was TRULY artistic, blending it beautifully with athleticism. Michelle just used pretty choreography (and they were very pretty) to mask her true lack of courage and athleticism.

  • @allenglandlawns Yes, she hit her peak at the Olympics. Good for her. Yuna IS the one who stated that she would watch Michelle's programs over and over. Yuna's artistry was nowhere near as great as Michelle's. Most of Michelle's choreography in her programs were far from easy (even when they were less difficult they were pleasing to the eye). Landing seven triples with those difficult programs is far from being "easy".

  • @allenglandlawns All of her elements were very solid (I can't say the same about Yuna). Michelle just lacked a more difficult triplel-triple. And there was NOTHING "true" about Yuna's artistry. Once again, I'll still take a 7 triple Michelle performance over any of Yuna's.

  • @allenglandlawns The only place your beloved Sasha skated as well as Yuna was in YOUR dreams! Your opinions are meaningless...the FACT remains that Michelle Kwan is a 9 time national and 5 time World champion!!!!

  • @MissThingSings It's cute how you're trying to track my and getrealandsee's every move to protect Michelle. What do you mean "in my dreams?" Sasha, Yuna, as well as any real athlete out there competed honestly and fairly. That should be enough for any athlete regardless of their medal count. Sure, let Kwan have her 9 nationals and 5 worlds to make her and her fans feel better that she will never be an OGM but she couldn't EARN the only medal that matters to her even with every possible break! :)

  • @Karosanyo You find Yuna's artistry pretentious? Bc she doesn't "skate with her heart?" Please, real athletes and champions skate with their skates. How about this? Why does MIchelle always stick that leg in the air and open her mouth? She does that over and over! I find THAT pretentious lol

Yuna is a true champion who isn't afraid to take risks and push herself to be the best. In that capacity and many others, she's done MORE for the skating's credibility as a real sport than Kwan EVER did.

  • @allenglandlawns You are absolutely right and now we wait for MissThingSings to accuse one of us of answering and agreeing with ourself:):) LOL

  • @getrealandsee Yes, it's blantantly obvious that Yuna was inspired by Michelle Kwan's 2002 LP for her 2009 LP. Check out her final pose and where she hits her spiral. Yuna and her coach have stated many times how much she likes and watches Michelle's programs. I'll take Michelle's 2002 National and World performances (where she SHOULD have won the LP at Worlds) over Yuna's 2009 abomination...

  • @Karosanyo yuna's "abomination" just so happened to break a world record and make her the first korean world champion in figure skating. she was inspired by michelle so the fact that ur calling her program an abomination is basically saying michelle's program was atrocious as well.

  • @ixsharon Your statement is ignorant... I'm not putting down Michelle's program when I call Yuna's program awful. That's like saying that I'm putting down Hitchcock's classic "Psycho" when I call Gus Van Sant's shot for shot remake garbage. Think about it. I also don't care if Yuna's program broke a World record. "Titanic" is tied as the all time Oscar winner, but that doesn't stop me from thinking that it's mediocre at best...

  • @Karosanyo my statement is ignorant? your the one judging a skater's freeskate poorly when it was inspired by a program that you enjoy w. more difficult jumps, alot more choreography and emotion, and ultimately made history in figure skating. i could care less if u like michelle better than yuna. but please, dont be foolish calling someone's beautiful program an abomination.

  • Comment removed

  • @ixsharon It seems that you have a hard time understanding and accepting diverse opinions... In my opinion, Yuna's program WAS an abomination (I could care less if it made figure skating history). YOU may think that Yuna's program is beautiful and superior to Kwan's, but I disagree and I am fine with that... Take care.

  • @ixsharon Yes, YOUR statement was ignorant. Read my post above again. When did I state that I enjoyed Kwan's version? I just stated that I feel that Kwan's version was better than Yuna's pretentious pile of garbage. Yuna's artistry in her version was atrocious (it was very melodramatic, and her arms and whole body was wild and out of control). Actually, I feel that Kwan's choreography and emotion was vastly superior. I am judging a skater's freeskate poorly? Because YOU say so?

  • @Karosanyo OH so i guess you didnt enjoy yuna AND michelle's programs. yes, your right. yuna's arms were flapping up and down the whole program. guess what... thats called choreography and artistry. like u said, i dont really give a crap about what you think since you seem like you dont like yuna at all anyways. i cant accept diverse opinions? i cant accept opinions that are absurd like yours. btw, this is michelle's program not yuna's so i dont understand y u feel the need to bring up yuna.

  • @ixsharon Well, Yuna's interpretation of her choreography was highly melodramatic and over the top. No other female in the history of this sport understood choreography like Kwan (I loved her use of her arms). I actually liked Yuna's Olympic free skate, though it was a bit overrated. That's another ignorant assumption. Yuna's artistry was nice and reserved as well there. Your opinions really don't matter to me. You don't understand why I brought up Yuna? Read below this video of Kwan...

  • @Karosanyo i think yuna's interpretation of scheherzade was perfect, michelle's? it was good but i think it was too simple. yuna's freeskate was overrated? while we are on the topic of overrated, michelle is probably the most overrated skater in history.

  • @ixsharon OMG I so agree with you. Kwan fans are so desperately in love with their Kween that they fail to see that she is such an overrated and mediocre skater with SIMPLE routines. Even with all the adulation, praise, and breaks, she still couldn't cut it at the Olympics. Yuna is graceful, beautiful, a true athlete and champion. NO comparison can be made between the two.

  • @allenglandlawns Why do you seek out and WATCH Kwan's performances over and over if you truly feel that she's overrated and mediocre??? We fail to see? How arrogant of you.

  • @Karosanyo i really dont care what you have to say either because it seems like you dont enjoy the same styles of figure skating as i do.but lets not talk about other ppls versions of a song poorly when it clearly means alot to yuna's fans, south korea's pride/history, and herself.

  • @ixsharon I have every right to express my views about Yuna's dreck 2009 long program... Yes, you and I have different debating styles, and taste in figure skating artistry. Take care.

  • @Karosanyo Inspired by Michelle? Michelle Kwan? The one who bungled a simple jump that should have been a triple triple but two footed? The one who wiggled and jiggled? The one who fell on a simple jump..one of very few in the program? Kim Yuna was inspired by that Michelle Kwan? You surely can't mean the Kim Yuna who blew the competiton away in the 2009 Worlds, who is the most popular person in an entire country and who under immense pressure won the 2010 Olympic Figure Skating Gold by a mile.

  • Michelle was great in her time....and this program was decent however it isn't very moving, or interesting to me....Yuna Kim's take on "Sheherezade" brought more artistry combined with technical abilities that is far more of a wow factor for me.....

  • sorry for comparing between the two... but i actually think yuna's performance is much more interesting and better sculpted to the actual music - as well as more visually appealing

  • Dong Fangxiao

  • What was up with that crotch shot in the K&C? Pervy cameraman?

  • @sleepyjl77 I think the focus was on Michelle and her dad holding hands waiting for the marks.

  • Splatarooni and crappy performance and Kwan paid the price here. Sasha was much better but Kwan had to have a medal so she was given the bronze....and Kwan is the rude and arrogant one..not Sasha...she snapped at the flower girls...she booed her marks and wrinkled her nose like ..hey I am Kwan..I deserve all 6.0s..not even a little classy..just plain arrogant and her sense of entitlement is unrivaled...unlike her skating!! Big deal she never gave up...what competitor does..they all push on!

  • @getrealandsee Sorry, but everyone knows that Sasha has always been the rude and arrogant one.

  • She has a lot of that 'attitude'. Something inspiring, fearsome, and fiery.

  • Well, for such a classy lady she sure showed it when she wrinkled her nose and booed her marks in the short..which Sasah won by a mile..not good enough for Kwan..expects to be marked high no matter how she skates..yeah, real class. I was ecstatic to see that grin wiped off her face here. Sasha was robbed..she won the bronze but no way in Hell was Kwan leaving w/o a medal. The commentator's remarks...'smart but costly?'...not for Kwan....for other skaters, yes.. not Kwan. Thank GOD ass met ice!

  • lol a sasha fan should not be speak9ing about what makes classy behavior. sasha was infamous for being a rude bitch

  • @getrealandsee Michelle has more class in her pinky finger than Sasha has ever displayed. At least Michelle never tried to run over her competitiors in the warm-up! As for ass meeting ice, you as a Sasha fan really shouldn't talk. Sasha did NOT win the bronze, please stop pretending now.

  • @TinyAva93 Well, Sasha DID earn the Bronze so despite the fact that she didn't get to take it home means only that Kwan had to have something shiny to brag about and take home with her. Sahsa is classy and sharp...she isn't scripted like the Kwan. When the Kwan isn't carefully maintaining her pristine image she is downright ugly and vicious. Wasn't the thumbs down, wrinkled nose, and booing ever so cutesy. And Sasha Cohen too wanted Olympic Gold but SHE actually competed and screwed no one else!

  • @getrealandsee Sasha didn't "earn" the bronze. Just because a handful of crazy fans think she was better doesn't mean she earned anything. Kwan beat Cohen fair and square. This may not have been Michelle's best choreographed program, but please lets not pretend that "Carmen" was a masterpiece because it really sucked. It was so choreographically EMPTY. I've seen juvenile-level skaters with more complex choreography than Sasha in '02.

  • @TinyAva93 As for all the CRAP about Sasah's trying to run over anyone...check out what Scott and company have to say about that! It's total garbage and stupid to boot!

  • @getrealandsee Whether or not Sasha was intentionally trying to run over anyone, she was still incredibly rude. She acted like she owned the ice, and everyone else should just skate around her. She was a rude, selfish, obnoxious little witch.

  • @TinyAva93 Her spiral was atrocious, her arms were out of control, and that final spin was sloppy. Her footwork was a mess as well. Michelle's program looked more neat and together (nobody was more musical than Michelle with their choreography). Her spiral and nuances were much better as well. Yuna's jumps are so high and great on she's on (she has the best triple-triples), but I dislike her forced artistry. I actually prefer Michelle's LP at the 2002 Worlds. She should have won the LP.

  • @Karosanyo I pretty much agree with that.

  • @TinyAva93 Oops! I am so sorry, TinyAva93! I clicked on the wrong name for my post! I am glad that you agree.

  • @TinyAva93 And Kwan's ass met ice on the simplest of jumps and she also failed to complete even the simplest of triple triples..Sasha's performance at her FIRST international competition beat the crap out of Kwan's and she most assuredly earned the Bronze but once again Kwannie had to have blingie at the expense of another skater. Everyone KNOWS that..everyone!! This is the OLYMPICS ...not some powder puff competition...Kwan didn't bother to up the ante and even at that she messed up and LOST!!

  • @getrealandsee Kwan rightly beat Sasha, who very deservedly only finished 4th. Sasha's programs were ridiculously simple, her footwork was practically non-existant, her stroking was awful, and the overall choreography of Sasha's programs was just LAME. Of course, that's what happens with an spineless old coach who lets his 17 year old skater choreograph her own programs.

  • Idiot, Michelle Kwan is the best female skater to grace the ice. Expression, technique, grace, attitude.

  • Hey Michelle is a great skater. She has a heart and did you know she was on the Olympics when she was twelve? She really has potential!:D

  • you can see were yu-na got the inspiration for her lp dress for the 08-09 season lol :)

  • that's why we love to call michelle spiral when she does spiral

  • omg how did she manage to do the inside spiral with such a deep and strong edge!

  • wow quite a few people

    have had scheherezade

    for a program, michelle,

    miki, yuna, etcc :o

  • It's very popular because of the way it adds emotion

  • Yuna and Michelle they both are great but u just cant' compare between them. One is from 2002 and the other one is 2010 mercedez model. Of course Michelle is classic but Yuna is modernly updated and the next one will come along later like 10 years later.

  • EVERYONE! Let's just agree to disagree and just ENJOY the different talents of Michelle, Yu Na, Mao, etc.

  • Michelle's Shez kicks Yu-Na's Shez square in the arse!

  • just watched yuna's. yuna is making michelle almost like a kid.

  • Please, Yu-Na WISHES she could be like Michelle.

  • I sorta agree with u

  • i disagree b/c we'll never know. i HATE when people compare skaters from different eras. skaters now can't be compared to skaters from the past b/c the standards were different. Michelle was the best in her era (count the titles); this is a new era of skating with Yu-Na and Mao leading the way. different rules & requirements, a different level of skating. we go by titles b/c they tell us who was the best at that time; Michelle is the gatekeeper until someone can surpass her everything she did.

  • agree! I love both Michelle Kwan and Yu Na Kim. I don't think you can compare these two skaters. Michelle Kwan was the best skater in her era and Yu Na Kim is making her way to become the best in her era; I think she already is~

  • I never said Yu-Na wasn't great but you can't compare her to Tiger Woods or Michael Jordan; she JUST won her FIRST world title. Jordan and Woods have won the top prize in their sport numerous times. All I'm saying that is Yu-Na has the POTENTIAL to be truly great but until she can match and then pass what Michelle did in terms of titles Yu-Na hasn't surpassed her. By the time Michelle was 18 she had 2 national titles, 2 world titles and an Olympic silver medal. I'm just saying...

  • @courtneysk8s You mean a two time Olympic Loser?

  • I just watched Yuna Kim's Sheherazade..enuff said

  • exactly...doesn't compare to MK's...which is much better than Kim's. Thanks for your support of Kwan - we know how much you really love her.

  • Miki Ando fue la campeona en Skate America 2006 con el programa corto "Scheherezade" y gano el campeonato mundial 2007 en Tokyo con el mismo programa.
