This is nonsense. The focus of the Catholic Church is Christ. It is not the Latin Mass. It is not the vestments, or traditions. It is not the Eucharist or praying to Saints. It is not the pope, the priests, nuns etc. The focus is Christ. A return to the magic and mystery of the Tridentine Rite does nothing to spread the message of Christ to the world. I wish mt priest would say a Latin I, and many of the other young people in my church hae asked him. He refuses to. Unfortunatly there is only one church that I know of that says the latin mass but it is no longer conected to rome. I pray one day all church will again say the LAtin Mass. We need the tradition and the ceremony back in our lives.
Pope Benedict XVI saw that the people wanted the Latin Mass so he allowed it to be used, and to the best of my knowledge the priest now doesn't even have to get permission from his Bishop to celebrate the extraordinary form of the Mass. Next year the new translation of the Novus Ordo (ordinary form) Mass is supposed to be coming out, which will restore a sense of the sacred and will be more faithful to the Latin translation. The Latin Rite was NEVER abolished from Vatican II...a new translation of the Novus Ordo is STILL an abomination, as its liturgy is a bastardized hybrid of Protestant blather with a watered-down tradtional Catholic mass. I enjoy Novos Ordo. It is what I grew up with. How can any of you say you are being restored when you were born decades after the original Tridentine ended? Even as reverent and beautiful as it is, it isn't what you know, you are foresaking the ecumenical effort, you are foresaking millions of people's history in the catholic church, if we are to be successful, at this point we need both the traditional and contemporary mass.

@catholicarchangel : Because he wants all of us to receive his body and blood. Not just the apostles at the last supper, but all of us. Remembrance of my does not mean that the Eucharist is a mere symbol. He simply wants us to continue receiving him at the holy sacrifice of the mass. and there is nothing more intimate than receiving Lord in the Eucharist. It is not a symbol, it is really him.

I said that at the consecration of the bread and wine, that the bread and wine cease to exist. What replaces it is Jesus himself. I think we're on the same page in our beliefs really.

On the night before he died he reached out to the merits and graces of the cross and applied them to the last supper. He did the same thing when Mary was conceived. That is why we say Mary was born without sin. He applied the grace of the cross before it happened. Jesus is the eternal word. His word is eternal so what he says and does is not bound by space and time.

@mandaloreJCL As far as the New Testament is concerned, Jesus didn't pluck part of His flesh out to be eaten by His disciples at the Last Supper, which should be the primary example of celebrating the Lord's Supper afterwards. Where does the Bible say that the bread actually turns into Christ's flesh? The Last Supper was also symbolic, the Lord's supper is symbolic. Jesus Christ's sacrifice on the cross was the one true real thing.

What is beautiful about the CC is the many forms of expression, whether it is the Eastern and Oriental Rites or the Roman Rite.
There are two Parishes in my diocese that have a traditional Latin Mass. I believe that is a good thing, especially for those who prefer this.
I truly wish that those who are a part of the Schismatics would return to full communion.

This is nonsense. The focus of the Catholic Church is Christ. It is not the Latin Mass. It is not the vestments, or traditions. It is not the Eucharist or praying to Saints. It is not the pope, the priests, nuns etc. The focus is Christ. A return to the magic and mystery of the Tridentine Rite does nothing to spread the message of Christ to the world. It is stagecraft aimed at impressing congregations, raising money, and projecting power. This is not a new morning. It is riding into a sunset.

I wish mt priest would say a Latin I, and many of the other young people in my church hae asked him. He refuses to. Unfortunatly there is only one church that I know of that says the latin mass but it is no longer conected to rome. I pray one day all church will again say the LAtin Mass. We need the tradition and the ceremony back in our lives.

Pope Benedict XVI saw that the people wanted the Latin Mass so he allowed it to be used, and to the best of my knowledge the priest now doesn't even have to get permission from his Bishop to celebrate the extraordinary form of the Mass. Next year the new translation of the Novus Ordo (ordinary form) Mass is supposed to be coming out, which will restore a sense of the sacred and will be more faithful to the Latin translation. It truly is morning again in the Catholic Church. God bless †

The Latin Rite was NEVER abolished from Vatican II...a new translation of the Novus Ordo is STILL an abomination, as its liturgy is a bastardized hybrid of Protestant blather with a watered-down tradtional Catholic mass. It is not a worship but a Protestanized gathering of thoughts and ho-humming. It's morning again when all Catholic Churches rid themselves of the table, use the altar and ONLY say/sing the Latin Mass. Let's cut the P.C. bull.

It's "morning again", time to get back to the days when Roman Catholics like Hitler tried to take care of "the Jewish problem" once and for all. Google "RCscanda" (one word) and see the Germany in which Pope Benedict was born, raised AND EDUCATED. The only schools allowed to function, including Catholic seminaries were the ones that satisfied the Nazi government's demands and supervision.

Yes schools run by the Church and seminaries were allowed to function because it was the largest church group in Germany, if Hitler hadnt let the Catholics go, they would have simply risen up against him, or he would have lost half of his population rounding them up and killing them for disobedience ot his regime. He had to let them go, an so because of that we look bad to you?

I am glad the true mass has been restored. I was horrified and bewildered by all that embarrassing chaos. It was an affront. BUT, I do not want intolerance and bigotry to be restored as well. Each according to his or her own. I enjoy Novos Ordo. It is what I grew up with. How can any of you say you are being restored when you were born decades after the original Tridentine ended? Even as reverent and beautiful as it is, it isn't what you know, you are foresaking the ecumenical effort, you are foresaking millions of people's history in the catholic church, if we are to be successful, at this point we need both the traditional and contemporary mass.
