there is a song by him that starts with a trumpet... not sure what that song is called.... i dont even know how to describe it but if someone could guess what that song could be please let me know. the song is more fun than romantic
Teacher at school ( Registration teacher, he is also French btw ) showed us this. It's really unusual and strange/weird, but when you are made to listen to it nearly every day it gets stuck in your head... and you end up searching it out of school hours haha. :D
From Virginia, USA, merci, merci, Heather, for featuring two of my favourite French artists. Quels talents, et c'est aussi une chanson comique! Bravo à tous!
when I think that artists like gainsbourg are extinct nowadays, and we got to listen to that over-commercial american pop that they feed us, it makes me wonder if french culture has lost its authenticity?
I agree, you see, my father used to listen to it all the time, so I grew up with the "classics" like Serge Gainsbourgh, (my dad is french). The thought of my kids growing up in the futur with Britney Spears and other over-commercial pop songs makes me sick.
@pietrogutta what authenticity? french pop music has always been a series of finely veiled rip offs of ango-saxon pop music, this song being one of the few exceptions. the word 'authenticity' especially sounds jarring when u look at another of france's pop sacred cows- johnny halliday. the americans have produced a lot of shit, but at least they don't keep listening to it.
While I agree with your point, this song is a story using a comic book metaphor, comic books being one of the most American forms or entertainment ever! If anything this is a celebration of American culture and its inclination towards a bright, pop-art style.

Who looks stunning in a superheo outfit? Brigitte Bardot in this video, or Yvonne Craig as "Batgirl" in "Batman"?

@pietrogutta this was a reaction to american pop art and american pop culture. if you're looking for authenticity dont listen to pop music

@pietrogutta i don't think Gainsbourg was Gainsbourg cause he was french. he was unique. no matter how did he say 'hola'
