a great night in Lemington spa Duncan from Suff druming and i think simon was there too i know they did a couple of Snuff tunes think it would be about 93 94?
I saw these guys at the 1992 Reading festival not knowing who they were and was completely blown away...the 2 guitar attack on this track in particular was incredible. They were one of the best bands that weekend and the late great John Peel who was DJ'ing and MC'ing the event played this song at least twice that I heard and raved about Leatherface's performance.Great great band.
Leatherface are my No1 band still after 20 years, I think Mush is one of the best albums too.... used to go see them live loads and promoted them a couple of times at our own venue, brilliant, one of the best live bands ever, the atmospherics of their sound and lyrics is very poignant somehow hard to describe
We're a special bunch we Leatherface fans. Most middle of the road punk fans don't like 'em. Every Leatherface fan is my friend. Love you guys ! LEATHERFACE IS ALL HEART !
I'm with you. I heard them on the HWM split and thought they were good but I didn't get it like I did--just tonight, actually. They are literally my favorite band. But, is it me. or do you wish they would, on most of their albums, put the vocals in front of the music (just a little more) in the mix? My favorite part about them is the voice. And the mix makes you want to hear it outfront a little more. Could be just me. I'm wondering if I'm the only one to ever have that thought about them.
I had heard about Leatherface for a while in the 90's, but the first music I bought of theirs was on the HWM split also. I'm a huge fan of Leatherface and have been for some time now. I disagree with you though, about the vocals. Stubbs vocals make Leatherface, but what sets them apart is the fact that they put the music at the front of their sound, with Stubbs vocals almost playing harmony to that. It's a classic sound I don't think anyone else has.
@justbass4 I hear what your saying, but it's more of a pop punk thing to have the vocals right up front. Leatherface are all about great loud guitars as much as stubbs' vocals, kind of like early Stiff little Fingers. Having them buried a bit more lets the band wash over you in such a gritty and great way.
when i first got into punk i thought vocals were always hard to hear (bands like snuff/leatherface) but i think it adds to the music doing the talking...i think its just right as it is, once you KNOW the lyrics you hear them louder in your head ;-)
@ParliamentOfCrows AGREED, i still feel betrayed by everyone i know for not forcing me to listen to this years ago ... i don't know how they slipped through the cracks, but i'm so happy to have them now, it totally makes up for all the years without ... saw them live in a basement show with like 30 people a year ago ... life changing
Don't like this tune? You probably deserve to have molten glass poured into your urethra then.
