One of my fave scenes that always make me tear up. Another one is Never ending story 2 when Bastian is in the desert with Nimbly. Such great moments. :')
I always feel bad because no matter how many times I see this scene, I never cry, and I feel like I should. My goal is to never cry at sad moments in movies until I find one that I really feel counts. I feel like it should be this scene, because these are my favorite movies of all time, yet I never cry. I've never WANTED to cry to a scene so much, yet it never happens. :/
Step 1: DONT watch these movies for AT LEAST 7 or so years.
Step 2: When nostalgia hits, it is time.
Step 3: Have a weekend long marathon.
Step 4: ?????
Step 5: PROFIT!
Seriously, I had a similar thing with some of my childhood fav' films. The biggest tear jerker is nostalgia, trust me. You WILL bawwww like a fucking baby.
thats way more then 500 people, because you have the people of both cities rohan and gondor.including the soliders of both cities so there is like 4000 to 5000
@hotlikesummer I was nearly in tears in all of the following scenes, I mean if you don't get wet eyes when frodo leaves his friends, you don't have a heart.
I swear can Elijah Wood only do one face? Whether the world's about to end or he's being possessed or he's being honored he always has the "I'm about to cry" face. I love these movies, but he is my least favorite part by far.
@SoWeak1000 oh but I do. I get that Frodo is in pain but the depth of the character just isn't there in facial expression. Loving and understanding the movies doesn't mean you blindly love every performance in them. As I said he is my least favorite part BY FAR. I can't really insult any other performance it's just a shame they got such a shallow actor to play the lead. I was infinitely more entertained watching the other storylines and characters than I was Frodo's.
To all the people saying he should smile or something, imagine how you would feel if the new King and EVERYBODY in Gondor suddenly bowed down to you. Wouldn't you be stunned too? Consider that Frodo *just* got back from an extremely perilous journey to destroy the Ring--and he had to carry the Ring for 18(?) months. That would leave a mark on your sanity.
the delegation of damn near anything to little children alone is for insecure young teens. An adult may find most kid-targetted works lacking in depth and complexity, but a mature adult also knows how to chill the fuck out and be a kid sometimes. Lotr, heck even stuff like Justice League, has far more depth than the movies which target those insecure teens such as The Hangover(guessing based on preview. I don't watch that crap)
(cont.)Tolkien's works may largely have been intended for the enjoyement of 13-ish people, but they're also social commentary which he hoped would influence the adult world, and they certainly have inspired many.
This scene sums it all up nicely. The films weren't perfect. But I don't think anyone could have done a finer job than Jackson and his production team and this group of actors.

@billy22804 He protected Frodo in the mines of Moria, he fought with the Ents in Isengard, he participated in the charge of the Rohirrim at Pelennor Fields, he killed the Witch King and fought against the orcs at the Black Gate. Just that.
@LightRosk but loads of other soldiers did that too. all he did to the witch king was stab at his leg, the only really impressive thing he did was unite the ents.
@billy22804 and you think stabbing witchking to break his force field so that eowyn could kill him is a small thing ?he was the lord of the nazgul dammit .almost everyone on middle earth was frightened of him even some of the most powerful elf kings were unable to kill him. and he convinced pipin to not go back to shire emty handed but he took part in convincing ents and if u want more plz read the books for his every detail.
@846adil when an evil guy is doing his monologue, he's too distracted to notice a hobbit sneaking up and stabbing him in the leg. hardly that difficult to do it really. and how is convincing pippin not to go home worthy of a bow?
To really make a great ending, they should have had a ring-wraith survivor on the back of a Nazgul fly over, launch a spear that skewers all four hobbits at once! Now that would have been an ending! (let's see how fast this gets negative votes or deleted)
