those are mostly kids and teenagers. they are still in the process of being trained with the real monks. the real monks don't showcase the fight. the whole idea of performing for people is to spread the spirit of martial arts and shaolin temple to the world. they want people around the world to know that China has preserved it's treasure and is continuing to be around through generations.
that's awesome! even though a lot of it does seem choreographed, so what? it still requires great skills and I'm pretty sure they'd be good in real fighting to..
this isnt the real Shaolin, well atleast not the Shaolin Monks. There are many schools and shows that teach the fighting styles, none compare to the monestary tho.
You are wrong. This is real Shao~lin, however, it is Shao~lin wushu. All of this was made because of the yellow river dam, which was built right ontop of a fault line in china. This is a problem because if that faultline breaks, then all that water will rush all through china over 100 feet high. Many deaths will occure, and almost all the precius, antique, dojos will be in a watery grave. So, a huge group of Shao~lin monks decided to create a new form of shao~lin called Wushu.
the shaolin temple is a tourist site, you can tell that this has been choreograph the guy was in gaurd mode before the attacker kick him. but I'll bet you anything that when the shaolin temple is closed to the public, that when the monks really train their kung fu skills and some more of their choreography for next day of tourist attraction :)
this is a shaolin temple, and they are real monks. only that they fight a different style. most people nowadays train changquan or nan quan that is being evolved from many styles that make wushu nicer. however, the monks in shaolin is doing a style called shaolin quan which is different from chang quan or nan quan
sadly you got this off of dogpile... I uploaded this then i took it off... Some person probally took so much time making this. dont copy it. even if its not copy-righted. plus you didn't even say that it wasn't yours!
It's contemporary wushu, as opposed to traditional wushu. ALL Chinese martial arts are wushu. This stuff is pretty decent; not up to the level of the professional schools though. They're also not real martial monks, since there haven't been any at the Shaolin Temple Museum since the early 70's.
